Chapter 52 - Chapter 52

A DOOR REOPENS

Serena stepped out of the courthouse, sunlight hitting her face for the first time in months.

House arrest.

An ankle monitor.

Restricted movement.

But she was free.

She tilted her head back and laughed softly.

"Freedom," she whispered.

"Even if it's temporary."

Her lawyer warned,

"One wrong move and you're back inside."

Serena smiled sweetly.

"I'll behave," she lied.

Elara's Unease

Across the city, Elara suddenly felt dizzy.

She placed a hand on her stomach.

"Lucien… something's wrong."

He rushed to her side.

"What is it?"

"I don't know," she whispered.

"I just feel… exposed."

Lucien froze when his phone buzzed.

Security Alert: Serena Blackwood released on house arrest.

His blood ran cold.

"She's out."

Elara's eyes widened.

"No…"

---

The Stranger Approaches

Later that afternoon, Elara sat in a café with her bodyguard nearby.

A woman walked up to her table.

"Excuse me," she said softly.

"Are you Elara Wynn?"

Elara hesitated.

"Yes?"

The woman smiled nervously.

"I used to work for Serena.

She's planning something."

Elara's heart dropped.

"Where is she?"

"I don't know," the woman whispered.

"But she said… she wants to finish what she started."

---

Too Late

Before Elara could ask more—

The woman disappeared into the crowd.

Lucien arrived moments later, breathless.

"Security lost track of her for ten minutes," he said.

"That's all she needs."

Elara grabbed his hand tightly.

"She's coming for me."

---

Serena's Promise

In her house, Serena stared at the city from her window.

"They think I'm done," she murmured.

"They think prison broke me."

She picked up a small box from her drawer.

Inside—

a hidden weapon.

"Not yet."
