Korven stares at the intruder, or rather, the lack of. After leaving the meeting that already had her interacting with two miracles, now there's a third, and this one wants blood.
"Did Aldrick send you?"
Korven asks, trying to avoid a fight no matter what. Because of how rare it is to be born a miracle, Korven has memorized the names and abilities of every one in Kilder.
"Tenyk, what are you doing? I thought you were dead."
The ability shes fighting against seems familiar, but the user of the miracle vanish: Tenyk, had gone missing a year ago.
The intruder doesn't answer questions, his dripping blood becoming visible only when the drops hit the floor. The floating dagger, raised, starts moving closer and closer to Korven as she hears footsteps on the ground. Instinctively, Korven jumps away, gripping her glass shard firmly. The glass shard cuts into her hand, but Korven ignores the cutting pain; she hears the invisible intruder charging at her again, off the shelf beside her. Korven grabs a book titled The Complete History of Kilder II and unthinkingly throws it toward the dagger, hoping to hit the intruder in the process. Korven hears the intruder jump out of the way and watches the flying book unceremoniously hit the door of her apartment. As she reaches for books I and III of the series, the intruder lunges at her with another attack. This time, Korven's attempt to jump away fails as the dagger cuts into her right arm.
"If you're going to break into my house, you should probably be ready for a fight."
Korven remarks in a snarky tone. She sees the dagger flying at her again, going in for another strike. Korven doesn't react fast enough to dodge, blocking the dagger with her left hand, leaving a gushing wound. Korven holds the sharp end of the dagger and starts to laugh at how weak this miracle-born really is.
"There's no way you're Tenyk, if He attacked me, I would have been dead already."
She says, laughing. Right as the intruder rips the dagger out of Korven's hand, Korven throws an attack at where she assumes the intruder's arm is, trying to slit her wrist. As the intruder falls back, Korven throws her blood at the intruder to see where she is. Only a few drops hit the intruder, but that's still enough to show Korven where she lies. Korven runs at the intruder again, just barely stepping to her right when the intruder tries the counter-attack. With an open opportunity to strike, Korven aims for her drops of blood on the intruder's body and stabs again with the glass shard. The intruder screeches in pain, and Korven comes to a realization,
"You are definitely not Tenyk, you are not even any man, you're a woman."
Korvens was surprised because very rarely do people have the same miracle; even if Tenyk is dead, he only died a maximum of a year ago, and it would usually take a decade for someone else to be born with the same ability.
Korven looks down and realizes that the screech of pain had activated the intruder's miracle's limit, and the intruder is no longer invisible. On the floor of her apartment, Korven sees a frail, struggling girl who looks exactly like her. In fact, it's like staring into a mirror; Korven is looking at herself.
"What the hell is this? Who are you?"
Korven asks while grabbing bandages out of the junk drawer. The girl refuses to answer, standing up and running at her again with the dagger. Korven feels pity for the slow-moving, severely injured girl, so she drops her glass shard and disarms the girl with just a punch to the hand. The girl trips over some clutter on the floor of the apartment and lies on the ground again.
"Please don't kill me."
The girl whispers, bleeding out to the point where that ask might already be too late.
"Only if you tell me who you are, why do you look like me?"
Korven asks, not understanding why shes staring at herself, crying on her floor. The girl answers, trying not to cry,
"This is just how my miracle works."
As she says this, she touches the glass shard and is engulfed by a blinding golden light for a few seconds before it fades. Korven looks to see that the girl is now invisible again.
"I am either invisible or the form of whoever is looking at me; I don't have a true me."
As she talks, her body forms back into that of Korven's.
"I go invisible by touching something transparent, and I lose that form when I talk."
By now, Korven has wrapped the intruders' and her own wounds.
"Who forced you to come here? Who is paying you? You obviously aren't a career criminal."
The girl looks down, ashamed,
"I can't tell you that, or they would kill me."
Korven's disappointed that she won't answer because now she has to do what she hates most,
"Well, if you don't tell me, then I will have to kill you."
Korven stands up and walks towards the girl threateningly.
"WAIT, my name is Silia, but that name was given to me by myself, not my parents. I was sent by Father Guardian. Please don't kill me."
As she begs, the door is bashed open by three policemen holding guns.
"Damn, my neighbours must have called them."
The cops scream,
"GET ON YOUR KNEES, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!"
Korven doesn't know who they're talking to, but right before she can ask. Two officers grab Silia while the third one calmly walks up to Korven,
"Hi ma'am, we were alerted about a large disturbance by your neighbours. We know you are very stressed right now, but we need you down at the station to answer some questions."
