The Betrayal
Audrey's heart stopped. She pressed her hand against her mouth, trying to silence the scream rising in her throat. Through the slightly ajar door, she saw him—her boyfriend—laughing with her step-sister, Alison. Her world tipped sideways. Everything she trusted, everything she believed in, shattered.
"Brian! So this is what you do? Cheating on me with my step-sister? How shameless can you be?" Audrey shouted, tears streaming down her face.
Alison stood, face red with anger. "Your man? No girl he's mine "
"I wasn't talking to you," Audrey spat. "I'm talking to my boyfriend."
Brian looked at her, scorn dripping from his words. "Your boyfriend? Never. You were just a play toy… my personal ATM."
Audrey felt her chest tighten. The man she loved, the man she sacrificed everything for, had just destroyed her.
Then he knelt before Alison, a ring in hand. "Alyson, will you marry me?"
Audrey's legs shook. Breath caught in her throat. "Marry you? You said you were not ready" She cried
"With you, I was never ready. With her… I was born ready," Brian sneered
"Yes baby I'll marry you" Alyson said grinning from ear to ear. Alyson stood up, legs wobbling, hands trembling and her body shaking and left for her house. When she got home she let out a loud scream and cried till she slept off.
The next day Audrey went to the mall to get some things she needed for the house and while she was shopping, her step sister Alison walked up to her with a smug face on her " Hi sister how are you feeling today?" Alison asked her mockingly. Audrey looked up, resisting the urge to beat her up "What do you want?" "Relax sister, I'm just checking up on you," Alison replied. Her eyes filled with hatred. " You know, I never wanted Brian I only took him away from you because I hated seeing you happy. I mean he's not my type. Not now, not ever but the idea of seeing you broken makes me want to stay with him until he forgets you totally. Have a nice day loser" Alison said walking out of the mall with a satisfied look. Audrey choked on her tears and went out of the mall without buying anything.
