Chapter 1 - When Our Paths Crossed Again

When Our Paths Crossed Again

Eight years from now

Eight years from now, you are a successful dancer in Philippines, one of the most famous artist, known and loved by so many people. People admire you, imitate your moves, and look up to you as an icon. Your posters fill malls, your performances trend online, and your smile can light up any stage.

And eight years from now.. I've become a famous karate athlete. I've traveled from city to city, country to country, winning tournament after tournament. My medals hang on the walls of dojos, my techniques are studied by younger players, and I've earned the title of master. I teach discipline, strength, and passion; just like the passion I once had for someone back in high school.

The Concert

One day, my friend invited me to a concert. She didn't tell me who was performing or where exactly it would be. I agreed to come since I didn't have anything else to do.

When we arrived, the venue was packed. Fans were shouting, waiting for the idols to perform. We found our seats near the front.

When the lights hit the stage and the performers appeared, I saw someone familiar.

I didn't look at the rest of the group; I only looked at her. That one idol.

The moment I recognized her, I froze. I stood up without realizing it because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Is that really her? The girl I knew in high school? Or the girl I wanted to love openly but never got the chance to?

My eyes started tearing up.

My friend tapped my shoulder and said "Sion, why are you crying? " They're just idol. Are you a secret fan or something?... "

I couldn't speak.

My voice refused to come out.

All I could do was stare.

When Our Eyes Met

As the group performed, she was dancing with so much confidence, so much fire—like she was born for that stage. But then, in the middle of a routine, her eyes drifted toward the audience. Toward me.

She froze.

Just for a second. But I noticed.

Even with thousands of people screaming, she saw me.

She only saw me.

Her eyes widened slightly, like she couldn't believe what she was seeing. And then, during the rest of the performance, she kept glancing back at me—quickly, secretly, like she was afraid she might be imagining things.

When the performance ended, she stood there onstage, breathing hard, sweat shining on her skin, still staring at me.

I could tell—she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Because the person who's watching her now is the same person who used to watch her perform as a majorette in high school... and the same person she once loved.

And maybe... just maybe... even after eight years, she still loves that same person.

The Unspoken Truth

And at that moment, I wondered:

Does she still remember me?

Does she still think about the girl she loved in high school?

After eight years... is there still a part of her that loves me?

Because the way she looked at me – it wasn't the look of an idol toward a fan.

It was the look of someone who once held my heart...

A look that carried years of unspoken feelings.

Behind This Story

– A Version from the Author –

This story comes from real feelings I've had – the longing, the hope, and the moments that shaped my connection with someone important.

This story is about two friends who met in high school. We started as classmates, then became close, and as time went by, we became more than just friends. I'm Sion—my nickname—and from the moment I first saw her, I had a feeling I would fall for her. I wanted to be her friend, but deep down, I knew my feelings would grow even more. Meanwhile, she never expected to fall in love with someone she met so unexpectedly—but she did.

This story shows the reality of someone who still longs for a person. It's about two people who end up crossing paths again by chance, at a moment they never planned and in a place they never expected.

After years of no contact, they suddenly meet again – even though, in their own ways, they had been looking for each other for a long time.

I always told her I would be her biggest fan no matter what—even without medals, certificates, or achievements. I showed up wherever she needed support. And she told me to keep going, even when life was heavy. I knew she was proud of me no matter what. Even if I only placed third, she still congratulated me, with the same sincerity. We were best friends, but honestly, we were also each other's strongest supporters.

But eventually, her family had to move away.

I didn't have a choice but to accept it, because I knew that sometimes in life, the people who make you feel seen, safe, and cared for won't always stay forever. Still, I held on to one belief:

"What's meant for you will always find it's way back to you."
