Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

As we marched to the battlefield, we noticed that the opponent was already here, not wasting any time as both sides charged at the other. It was a day filled with bloodshed and lives lost on both sides. I didn't stray from my spot close enough to the King, so I could keep an eye on him. The opponents just kept coming one after the other, they came from over the hill.

Losing and defeating men left and right, as my sword sliced through their armor and their flesh. The opponents blood spewing and drenching their bodies underneath their armor. We were winning, we were winning more fights, losing less men, but each loss couldnt be mourned; we still had a fight to win. The king was fighting a man, though I couldnt tell who it was, I could tell that Arthur was winning. I was watching from the corner of my eye as he fought his opponent, each strike was delifered with rage and frustation. Arthur put every ounce of strength into each thrust of his sword, he jabbed into his opponents chest, the man crying out in pain and even more so as Arthur pulled back his sword.

The enemy swung his sword towards Arthur's legs and succeeded in damaging the stance that Arthur had mantained the whole battle. The opponent got too cocky and swung for a killing blow, Arthur seen this and blocked the attack with his sword, he was staggering and wasnt able to put weight on his left leg. This didnt stop Arthur though, he advanced his opponent, blocking another attack with his shield as he swung his sword for a killing blow.

As Arthur delt the killing blow to his opponent he was advanced from a man behind, he didn't see him, too focused on the opponent in front if him. I raced to get in front of the opponents sword as he raised the sword up to strike the king. I faced towards the king and away frome the man to help protect my face, he swung his sword down and struck me along my back, I swung around to slit hit throat, he jabbed his sword into my chest. I still managed to kill him and he fell gurgling and clutching his throat, chocking on his own blood; I had also fell to my knees.

"Meliodas!" I heard Arthur yell as he turned to notice me, he had defeated his opponent the sword from my opponent still sticking out of my chest. I summoned all remaining strength to look up at the king, smiled and collapsed onto the ground. He limped over to me, holding his right side.

"Meliodas, we won. The opponent I was fighting, that was my nephew Mordred." He eplained through big huffs of breath, exhausted from his battle from what I now know was Mordred. I gave a dry painful chuckle, and groaned, our men had started cheering as they defeated the last of Mordred's army. Their cheers filled the battlefield as they started chanting.

"LONG LIVE KING ARTHUR!"

"Well would you look at that, who would have thought." I started "Long live king Arthur." I whispered.

"Meliodas, why were you so dumb to do that?" He asked with tears starting to form in his eyes. I thought about our live together, from the time he demanded his mother to take me home, to the times I took the punishment for him when he did something we knew he shouldnt do, even the times I covered for him so he could spend time with his now wife, Guinevere. There was only one answer that I could even think of to give to him, I took in a suddered breath as Ianswered him.

"Anything for my brother." I repeated his own words to me from earlier, he finally let his tears that had gathered into his eyes, fall. They streaked down his face as he laughed dryly at the irony.

"Only you Meliodas, only you." He repeated, I chuckled lightly, I was growing weaker as i lost blood.

"What do you think death is like Arthur? Do you think I'll meet my parents?" I whispered, he let out a quiet sob, and took a suddering breath.

"Only God can make that happen. God will meet you there, he will let you into heaven, I just know it." He explained, I smiled weakly.

"I love you, brother. Dont forget me." I say to him.

"I love you too brother. I will never forget you Meliodas, never. Rest now, I will get us some help." He replied, I closed my eyes and took one long final breath.

Darkness soon followed.

So, this is the outcome of this battle? Queen Igraine, I fulfilled my promise, I kept him alive. I thought as I slipped into the afterlife.

Though, death did not come, I opened my eyes and had to blink away the brightness that greeted me when I did so.

"Where the hell am I?" I asked out loud to no one but myself.

"Well Meliodas, you're in heaven. Welcome. I'm God." A voice said and as I sat up to look where the voice came from. There he stood, a silhouette of a man, I couldn't see any features as there was a bright light that shown behind him as if to hide him from view.

"God? As in THE God?" I asked.

"Well there is only one God," He replied "I need you to do something for me Meliodas. You won't like it but it must be done." He continued.

I looked around further, it was bright white everywhere, there was no darkness anywhere, not even a shadow.

"This is heaven huh? Who would have thought." I whispered.

"Where else did you expect to go? Even tho you killed people, which is against the 10 commandments, you did it for the right reason, for a good cause. Im willing to overlook the fact that you have sinned in this manner." God explained.

"Yea good point." I replied, I looked down at myself and i was wearing a white Chiton with a gold chlamys.

"What is this and what is the favor you need me to do for you?" I asked, curious as to what I could do for GOD.

"That, is a tunic that the ancient greeks wore when they were alive. Comfy right?" He started, "As for the favor, I need you to overthrow Lucifer." He said nonchalantly.

"Huh, ancient greek huh?" I started, "I'm sorry did you say Lucifer? As in the ruler of hell?" I asked.

"Again, only one Lucifer." He replied. "You were a good leader to your soldiers, smart with your battle strategies and won EVERY battle you fought in. You're perfect."
