Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Depressed Rachel

Chapter 4: Depressed Rachel

Early in the morning, Emma arrived at the coffee shop for work. Moments later, Ross walked in.

"Hi, Emma, you work here?" Ross asked, surprised.

"That's right. I'm using this job to tide me over before I seriously look for other work. Do you want something to drink?"

"Just a regular coffee. Oh my god, I looked everywhere, and no one wanted to listen to me. Emma, I know we aren't close yet, and if you mind, I won't talk to you about it," Ross said.

"Are you going to talk about paleontology?" Emma asked warily.

"No~, you really are a humorous girl," Ross replied awkwardly, though he truly didn't want to talk about that right now.

"I wanted to say that I sent Emily 72 roses, but I still haven't gotten a response. She's still angry at me. What else can I do to make her forgive me?" Ross said.

"Let her go, Ross. She's not your lobster," Emma said while handing him the coffee.

"No, I don't want it to end like this with her. I don't want to be divorced twice before I'm thirty. Emma, you're a girl. If a guy wants to make you happy, what do you think he should do?"

"Ross, your situation can't be solved just by making Emily happy."

Ross listened carefully.

"And I think Emily has a pretty good temper. If I were Emily, and you said the wrong name at our wedding, you might be a pile of ash right now."

Ross widened his eyes, not expecting Emma to be so direct.

"Thank you, Emma, that was a great help," Ross took a sip of coffee.

"Ross, you know, from Emily's perspective, it's humiliating. If you really want to continue living with Emily, prove to her that she is your one and only, and that will never change. If you just want to get married and avoid getting divorced so many times, then I advise you not to bother trying; just let Emily make her own choice."

Ross fell into deep thought. Anyone who has watched the show knows that Rachel was always in his heart; it was just that the situation became too complicated later, and both of them got scared.

"Well... I'll think about it. Thank you, Emma." Ross quickly finished his coffee and left the cafe.

Emma continued her work. Soon, Monica, Chandler, and Joey also arrived and sat on their usual couch. Monica was holding a pile of photos. Emma walked over.

"Hi, would you like something to drink?" Emma asked.

"Oh my god, Emma," Monica exclaimed.

"I'm working here for now. Can I ask you guys something? If my major back home was Communications, what kind of job could I find here?" Emma's voice grew softer as she asked, feeling increasingly uncertain. She wasn't someone who would slack off; she wouldn't stay here serving coffee forever.

"Uh..." The group fell into contemplation.

"Thanks, that was a lot of help. What kind of coffee would you like?" Emma changed the subject.

"Iced tea," Monica said.

"Latte," Chandler said.

"Same as Chandler's," Joey said.

Emma nodded and went to prepare the drinks. At this moment, Rachel walked in, looking dejected.

After the coffee was ready, Emma brought it over and distributed it to them one by one. Rachel was currently staring up at the ceiling.

"Oh, I just can't believe it. Ross got married! He actually got married!" she wailed.

"Rachel, you don't need to worry at all. That's Ross; he'll get divorced sooner or later." Emma blurted out, only realizing the others were staring at her in confusion the moment she looked up.

"Oh, I forgot, we haven't reached that joke yet. Rachel, what do you want to drink?" Emma changed the subject.

"I don't want anything to drink, I'm so depressed!" Rachel grumbled.

"Rachel, Rachel, stop thinking about Ross. You should start a new life. Look, there are plenty of quality guys here, like Gunther."

Gunther, hearing this, secretly smiled smugly.

"Or, the guy by the window. Go for it," Monica comforted Rachel.

Gunther was on the verge of tears, while Emma patted his shoulder.

"Monica, I don't want to just date some random guy," Rachel refused.

"No way, Rachel. I'm making the decision for you now. Go talk to that guy and go on a date with him," Monica said.

Rachel reluctantly stood up. "Fine, whatever you say." She walked up to the guy, and Gunther was nearly crushing the plate in his hand.

Immediately afterward, Phoebe walked over with her large belly, equally depressed, and sat down in the spot Rachel had just vacated.

"Phoebe, look at the photos we took in London, don't put your hand..." Before Monica could finish, Phoebe snatched them away.

"You, Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, and... and me..." Phoebe drew herself onto the photo with a marker. Monica watched the photos, anxious but not daring to stop her.

"You must be sick of hearing us talk about London, right, Phoebe?" Chandler asked sensitively.

"Sorry, I'm just feeling down. I'm pregnant and couldn't go anywhere to play with you guys."

A moment later, Rachel returned, having successfully gotten a date with the guy. Emma looked at Gunther. Gunther pulled out a sign from under the counter that read: "This establishment reserves the right to refuse service to anyone."

Then, Gunther used this sign to drive the guy away.

"Hey, Emma, can I have extra syrup on my pancakes?" Joey secretly asked Emma, who looked confused.

"You didn't order pancakes from me."

"Oh~ then I'll order now: 10 pancakes with extra syrup, any flavor."

Emma showed a knowing smile. "Alright, coming right up..."
