Chapter 65 - The Blood Sorcerer's Awakening

Blood and feathers rained down around the room, torn pieces flying through the air like gross confetti.

Adrian, snapped out of his god-like state, collapsed weakly to the floor. A moment ago he'd been all-powerful, now he couldn't even cast a simple Protego to shield himself from the disgusting chunks of meat landing on his face.

After a long rest, Adrian finally recovered enough to try recreating that incredible magical state. But his power had retreated deep inside, flowing normally through regular channels. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't lift objects with just his thoughts, let alone do advanced transfiguration without his wand.

The experience felt like being kicked out of heaven back down to earth. It left Adrian really unsettled.

But thinking about what had happened...

Vaguely, Adrian remembered a similar experience from his inherited memories, the magical awakening at age eight.

He'd been woken up by a nightmare in his small bedroom when his magic burst outward, destroying everything nearby while temporarily bringing to life a wooden carving he'd been holding. During the whole thing, he'd used no wand or spells. Fear had driven him to subconsciously push away everything around him, causing widespread destruction, while his need for comfort had brought the carving to protective life.

Adrian didn't fully understand why magical outbursts made such things possible, but Harry's accidental magic in the original books seemed similarly reality-bending, growing hair overnight, turning his teacher's wig blue, making zoo glass disappear with a thought.

Every young wizard went through something similar when their magic emerged.

Adrian suspected the potion-induced power surge had triggered a second magical awakening, stronger and longer-lasting than the first, letting him have brief conscious control.

"Is it because of the fusion ingredients?" Adrian wondered. Many of the potion's components were related to healing magic, which might explain the weird effects.

Unable to figure out a definite answer, Adrian put the question aside for later research.

The sticky blood coating his clothes and skin made him want to throw up, while the room looked like a tornado had hit it.

"Scourgify," Adrian drew his wand and tapped his robes before dealing with the chaos around him.

Under waves of invisible magical energy, everything reversed like time itself had rewound. Fallen cabinets righted themselves and went back to their spots, scattered tables and chairs put themselves back together in their proper places, and even the dirty dust and sawdust vanished completely.

Adrian marveled at how convenient magic was. Cleaning such a big space by hand would have taken days.

Yesterday, his Scourgify couldn't have done this level of restoration. His magical power had almost doubled, dramatically increasing how effective his spells were. After fusing with unicorn blood, his wand felt incredibly responsive, magic flowed through it without resistance, actually boosting his power.

Even so, the cleaning charm wasn't all-powerful. The table-turned-"phoenix" couldn't be restored. The torn flesh, blood, and feathers only gathered in one corner, forcing Adrian to burn them up with Incendio.

Many spilled potions had mixed with debris, becoming worthless sludge. Adrian's heart hurt looking at the waste, those potions could have been worth hundreds of Galleons.

Fortunately, he found one intact Fire-Protection Potion, which was some consolation.

Once everything was sorted out, Adrian finally checked his system status, curious about his improvements.

[System Points: 179]

Adrian studied the updated system panel, noticing several new things.

First, his class had changed from "Wizard" to "Blood Wizard"? though he didn't understand what that meant yet.

Second, all his magical skills had increased dramatically. Adrian suspected this was related to the strange state he'd entered after his magical outburst. His Transfiguration had not only reached Level 4 but gained over a thousand skill points in one session. The system's message log showed dozens of notifications, mostly about transfiguration improvements.

Adrian wondered if he hadn't tried the deadly phoenix animation, could he have kept the state going longer and pushed Transfiguration to Level 5?

Of course, keeping that god-mode permanently would be ideal. In that state, Adrian felt he could match Dumbledore himself, at least within his magical range.

Finally, the new Bloodline Magic column was what he expected. According to The Origins of Blood, successfully fusing magical creature blood usually gave you some of their abilities. Wizards with Veela blood, for instance, had supernatural charm.

But Adrian's Bloodline Magic column showed only five question marks, revealing nothing else, for now...
