Chapter 11 - THE GIRL I USED TO PURSUE

Go Yoon-jung couldn't imagine Kwon Hyuk landing an audition role just days after starting acting.

It was more believable for her to think that Kwon Hyuk had a deep background and abundant resources.

However, his rapid growth in class made her feel it was somewhat credible.

Most people in the entertainment industry are not fools, not to mention Go Yoon-jung had entered the modeling industry two years earlier.

This also made her feel a bit strange internally, and her impression of Kwon Hyuk was refreshed again.

Everyone likes to associate with excellent people; this is not a derogatory statement.

However, it was still too early to say all this; currently, they were just two entertainment industry newcomers of similar age, struggling to make their way.

It's very normal for newcomers to stick together for warmth.

...

The next day, Kwon Hyuk gladly accepted the invitation to meet with a close friend he had made during his time at S.M. Entertainment.

Inside an elegantly decorated Instagram-famous coffee shop in Cheongdam-dong.

"Long time no see!"

Kwon Hyuk leisurely sat in his seat like a young master, heard a voice from behind, and felt a pat on his shoulder, then the figure walked in front of him.

"You're here! Oppa, you look completely fine, it seems it didn't hit you hard."

A pure and sweet girlish aura wafted over, and Kwon Hyuk looked up at the girl in front of him, her face beaming with a cheerful smile.

"You're still quite blunt. If this happened to someone else, they'd be quiet for a while and wouldn't be able to get over it."

Kwon Hyuk slightly adjusted his sitting posture, looking at the girl in front of him.

Kim Sung-kyung smiled sweetly, her voice pretty.

"I don't see any signs of disappointment in you."

Who is Kim Sung-kyung?

This name might be a bit unfamiliar, but change it to a well-known stage name, and you'll know who it is.

Lami.

S.M. Entertainment's most anticipated trainee, arguably one of the future new girl group members and a future big star.

Almost everyone thought so, including Kwon Hyuk.

"It's alright, I just adjust faster than others," Kwon Hyuk said.

It was quite normal for him to know Lami.

Kwon Hyuk was outgoing and sociable. Although trainees also followed senior-junior hierarchy, he was older than all the trainees, so who would dare to act as a senior in front of him?

He also liked to interact with people, actively communicating with some outstanding trainees. He was eloquent and had excellent personal conditions, so not having friends would be strange.

It was only natural for two outgoing people to become friends.

"So, Oppa, what are you doing now?"

The two were already very familiar, so Lami asked directly without hesitation.

"I've changed careers to acting and have already landed a role."

"Really?"

Lami was extremely surprised, her almond eyes wide open.

"Of course, why would I lie to you?"

Kwon Hyuk said as a matter of course, then sharply retorted.

"Haven't you seen the news?"

Lami smiled slyly, changing the subject.

"Does Jimin Unnie know? She'd definitely be very surprised if she knew."

A teasing smile appeared on Lami's face as she jested.

This Jimin was, of course, Yoo Jimin also known as "Karina" , her stage name.

She knew there was a bit of a story between the two of them, not sure if they ever got together, but there was definitely a story.

This story could be talked about in detail, but in short, it was Kwon Hyuk seeing a certain person and being tempted by her beauty, deliberately trying to hook up.

The large-capacity facial cleanser was still great.

Trainee regulations prohibited dating, so the two secretly developed their relationship, but ultimately didn't confirm it because Kwon Hyuk ran off to participate in an audition.

This also caused their relationship to stagnate; they hadn't been in contact since he participated in the show.

"If she knows, she knows. I don't care."

"But you were the one who pursued her first."

Lami spoke up for her.

"Are you suggesting I wait for the girl to pursue me?"

Kwon Hyuk deliberately twisted the concept and talked nonsense.

He had no burden in pursuing girls and didn't feel ashamed, nor did he consider a girl pursuing him something to brag about.

"Just you wait, you're really making people angry."

Lami swore, somewhat sharing the same indignation.

To be honest, Kwon Hyuk did act improperly, cutting ties so suddenly without giving an explanation.

"Everyone's a trainee, and besides, you're about to debut. If the company finds out about a relationship, wouldn't it be over?"

Kwon Hyuk felt it was nothing, just an ambiguous relationship, it didn't mean anything.

"That's easy to say, but why don't you consider that Jimin risked being discovered by the company and never said she disliked you for not being able to debut?"

In their eyes, Kwon Hyuk was just a trainee who inexplicably joined, and an ultra-aged trainee at that. For an idol, it was fine to say his future was bleak.

"If I hadn't been a trainee, I would have thought the same."

Teenagers in middle and high school are in their adolescence, seeing each other every day. Is it believable to say they don't date or have something happen in private?

It's too common for trainees to have private relationships and date, they just hide it from the company.

Just like teachers in China don't allow early relationships, but when you meet someone you like, can you really control yourself?

"I advise you to contact Jimin proactively soon. That's what a man should do, right?"

Lami advised.

Although her relationship with Yoo Jimin wasn't as close as best friends, they were still friends, and it was for this reason that she spoke these words.

"When I have time, I've been quite busy lately."

Kwon Hyuk spoke truthfully.

"Alright."

Lami still believed him and nodded.

The two chatted until evening before parting ways.

The conversation in between wasn't just about him, but also about Lami's debut.

Her parents weren't very keen on her debuting, and crucially, her image didn't quite fit the concept of the new girl group.

The situation was complicated, and the future development was still unclear.

However, Kwon Hyuk observed her reactions and could tell that she was also quite conflicted and uncertain about her own future development.

They both faced an uncertain future, and when faced with choices, they didn't know how to make the right decisions.

After bidding farewell to Lami, Kwon Hyuk suddenly remembered something on his way home.

He had been in contact with Lami in the middle, but his sixth sense hadn't reacted.

If that's the case...

Lami didn't appear in his limited premonitions of the future, which means... her future prospects aren't very bright?

Even if he knew, what could he do to help? His own future wasn't completely clear yet. He should focus on his current matters first.

Kwon Hyuk temporarily put these thoughts aside without dwelling on them, concentrating on the crew that was about to be assembled for filming.

...

Yoo Jimin learned from others that Lami and Kwon Hyuk had met.

She was very angry, even sad and confused, wondering why Kwon Hyuk hadn't proactively contacted her to clarify things.

He was the one who pursued her first.

Heaven knew how conflicted and angry she was when she saw Kwon Hyuk make it all the way to the end of the show.

When she finally saw him lose, she didn't know whether to be happy or sad. She hesitated for a long time whether to contact him proactively, but eventually restrained herself.

Now she also knew that Kwon Hyuk didn't contact her first but instead met Lami for a meal, and feelings of resentment surged into her heart again.

"Really..."

Yoo Jimin felt that her personality and temper were good enough, but she was still left feeling indignant by Kwon Hyuk, this scumbag who ran off midway.
