Dante's kiss was a territorial claim. It wasn't the romantic, soft focus kiss of a shoujo manga or the eye-catching warmth kiss seen in Wattpad novels; it was the kiss of a man who had just narrowly avoided death and decided to take his adrenaline out on the nearest available heartbeat and that's your truly.
His tongue invaded with a predatory hunger, tasting of high-end whisky and a chilling, dark authority which send shivers down my spine.
My brain screamed at me to remember that this man was a murderer, a villain, the Tyrant of the underworld and not some kdrama ceo who I always dreamed of meeting.
But my body....this new, sensitive Serenas body was fucking traitorous and annoying.
A heat I had never felt in my previous life bloomed in my pussy, radiating outward until my fingers curled into the expensive fabric of his shirt, definitely gonna break it.
He began to suck in my lips with vigour of a master at its art, he must have had lot of experience in it .
He gently bit my lower lip and brazed his tongue against my teeth. His hands were getting restless as well , they were roaming all around me like searching for something.
His left hand went to squeeze my tits through my clothes while his right hand slowly caressed my spine. It finally reached its destination, my buttocks.
It should be noted that this body is crazily attractive , a dream body for any women.
He slowly but gently kneaded my ass and then his left hand left my breast to join in and took a rough squeeze of my ass completely kneading it like kneading a spongeball, I was totally keeping myself from moaning .
Suddenly, he pulled back just an inch, his eyes dark with a mixture of lust and lingering suspicion. His thumb brushed over my lower lip, which was now swollen and red.
"You're a mystery, Serena" he whispered, his voice a low growl. "And I hate mysteries that I can't solve within the hour."
Before I could respond, he sat up, grabbing my wrist and pulling me off the bed in one fluid motion. I stumbled, my bare feet hitting the cold hardwood.
"Wait...where are we going?" I asked, clutching the thin lace of my slip dress as if it could actually protect me, which mostly i am sure it couldn't.
"You wanted to be a partner?" Dante grabbed a silk robe from the foot of the bed and threw it at me. It was heavy, dark navy, and smelled purely of him, nice...!!.
"Then come see what happens to people who try to play me. Let's see if that stomach of yours is as strong as your mouth."
The basement of the Moretti estate was not a dungeon out of a medieval movie. It was way worse than that.
It was a clean, soundproofed medical grade facility that smelled of bleach and sanitizer which i last used during Covid, wait is that a thing here , i mused to myself.
As we stepped out of the private elevator, the air grew heavy. Two men in suits stood guard outside a heavy steel door.
They straightened immediately when Dante approached, their eyes flickering to me in my oversized silk robe and messy hair and broken lips.
They looked confused, but one look from Dante silenced any questions they might have had. I could see that they feared the mafia king.
"Is he inside?" Dante asked.
"Yes, Boss," one of the men.....Marco, the one from the radio replied.
"We found the ledger hidden in his gym locker, just like you suggested we check after the sweep. He was planning to run tonight after the..... incident."
Dante glanced at me. A sliver of respect, sharp as a glass shard, cut through his cold exterior or was it my imagination.
I had been right about the sniper, and I had been right about the traitor. We walked into the room. Lucca, the right handman, was strapped to a chair in the center of the bright white room.
He wasn't bloody yet, Dante preferred to do the work himself, but he was sweating profusely, his eyes darting around like a trapped dog looking for a bone to chew
When he saw Dante, he began to blubber. "Dante! Boss! It's a mistake! The Russians set me up, I swear on my mother's soul....."
Dante didn't say a word. He walked to a side table, slowly peeling off his suit jacket and rolling up his sleeves.
The tattoos on his forearms were intricate - thorns and serpents that seemed to writhe as his muscles moved, like the ones john Wick had, still Keanu looked best with those tattoos.
"Serena," Dante said, not looking back at me. "Come here."
I stepped forward, my heart hammering. This was the moment. In the book, Serena never saw this side of him until Chapter 40. By bringing me here now, I was accelerating the plot at breakneck speed and i don't know how to feel about that .
"He says he's innocent," Dante said, picking up a pair of heavy brass knuckles and did he just caress a chainsaw on the side.
He turned to face me, his silhouette imposing under the harsh fluorescent lights.
"Tell me, Partner.Does your talent tell you if he's lying?". Lucca's eyes locked onto mine.
He recognized me...the Rossi girl and the debt payment.
"Serena Rossi? What is she doing here? Dante, you're listening to a girl? She's a brat! A mere toy!"
I looked at Lucca. I remembered his fate in the novel. He was supposed to take over the Moretti empire in the Bad Ending route and turn Serena into something far worse than a mistress, raping her and inevitably leading to her death.
The fear I had felt since waking up in this world converted into a cold, hard diamond of resolve.
If I wanted to survive, Lucca had to die.
I walked right up to the chair, ignoring the way Dante's eyes tracked my every move, sometimes i could most certainly feel his eyes on my ass.
I leaned down, the silk robe fluttering open slightly, and whispered just loud enough for Dante to hear.
"You didn't just skim the casino accounts, Lucca. You sold the coordinates of the December shipment to the Valetti family, didn't you? The one with the emeralds?"
Lucca's face went from pale to ghostly white. His jaw dropped. "How… how could you possibly…"
I turned back to Dante, a smug, chilling smile playing on my lips.
"He has a Swiss bank account under the name Rossi. He used my father's name to frame us in case he was caught because we were broke. The password is his daughter's birthday."
The silence in the room was absolute.
Dante moved so fast I barely saw it. He was in Lucca's space in a heartbeat, his hand gripping the man's throat.
The sound of Lucca's muffled gasps filled the room.
"Check it," Dante barked at Marco.
Three minutes of frantic typing on a laptop later, Marco nodded. "It's all there, Boss. Every cent and the communications with the Valettis."
Dante let go, and Lucca slumped over, sobbing. Dante didn't look at the traitor anymore. He looked at me and there was something terrifying in his gaze.....a mix of intense fascination and a hunger that had nothing to do with business but mostly with my ass.
"Get out," Dante said to his men.
"Boss?" Marco hesitated.
"Take him to the warehouse. I'll finish this later," Dante commanded.
"I want the room,Now."
The guards dragged a screaming Lucca out, and the heavy steel door hissed shut, leaving me alone with the monster. The silence was deafening. Dante began to walk toward me, and instinctively, I backed up until my calves hit the edge of the interrogation table.
"Who are you?" he asked, his voice a low, dangerous vibration.
"I told you. I'm Serena Rossi."
"No." He placed his hands on the table on either side of my hips, pinning me.
He leaned in so close our noses touched. "Serena Rossi was a sheltered, weak willed girl who couldn't look me in the eye without trembling, who would only cry and keep her head down but you... you just dismantled an Underboss with three sentences."
He reached out, his hand sliding inside the opening of my robe, his palm resting right over my racing heart and slowly tracing my neck to my lips.
"Your heart is beating fast," he noted, his eyes dropping to my chest.
"But you aren't running. You're enjoying this."
"Maybe I just like being on the winning side for once," I breathed.
Dante's hand moved upward, his fingers tightening around the back of my neck.
He pulled me forward until my chest was pressed against his.The contrast between the cold room and his burning skin was intoxicating.
"You're a dangerous addition to my house," he whispered. "I should probably lock you in a cell until I figure out how you knew my secrets."
"You could try," I challenged, my voice dropping to a sultry whisper.
"But you'd miss the information I have about the meeting tomorrow in the harbor. And... I think you'd find a cell far less entertaining than your bedroom."
Dante's eyes flared with a dark, primal heat. He growled...a sound of pure, unadulterated want and hoisted me up onto the table. The metal was freezing against my thighs, but the sensation only made the heat where his hands touched me feel more intense.
He parted my knees, stepping between them. He looked at me like a man who had just discovered a new world and intended to conquer every inch of it literally.
"You think you can play me, Serena? You think you can trade secrets for your freedom?"
"Not my freedom," I said, reaching up to unbutton the next two buttons of his shirt, exposing the hard, tattooed muscle of his chest.
"I'm realistic, Dante. I know I belong to you.
I just want to make sure I'm the only thing you're obsessed with."
He let out a jagged breath, his head dropping into the crook of my neck.
He nipped at the sensitive skin there, making me cry out and arch my back.
His hands roamed over my curves, the silk of the robe the only thing between his rough palms and my skin.
"Be careful what you wish for, little bird," he rasped against my skin.
"If I become obsessed with you, I'll never let you go. I'll ruin you for any other man.You cunt, your lips , every thing will only belong to me ever . I'll make sure the only name you can scream is mine."
"Is that a threat, Mr. Moretti?" I teased, my hands sliding into his dark hair.
"It's a promise."
He pulled back, his gaze locking onto mine. The power dynamic had shifted.
I wasn't his victim anymore, and I wasn't just his toy, i was a catalyst and i was the variable he couldn't control, and for a man like Dante Moretti, that was the most addictive drug in the world.
He bent his head, capturing my lips again, but this time, there was no suspicion.
There was only a violent, overwhelming need to possess, as his hand slid beneath the lace of my slip, I knew I had successfully rewritten the first act.
I wasn't going to die in Chapter 50. In fact, by the time we reached Chapter 50, I planned to have the King of Chicago on his knees pleasing me.
Author's Note:
The heat is rising! Serena has proven she's more than just a pretty face.
But how will she handle the rest of the Moretti family?
And what happens when the original Heroine of the book shows up?
