Chapter 47 - A Surprise Fan Visit

"Oh? I thought it was some impressive figure who could make Sister Liu voluntarily leave Jiaxing Entertainment. Turns out it's just a big hero who saves people!"

The man appeared to be around forty years old, dressed in an impeccable suit and leather shoes, but his words carried an uncomfortable tone.

Xiao He slightly raised an eyebrow.

Liu Rulan also withdrew her previous smile: "I was wondering who would take over my work next. So it's you after all."

Tian Heng, one of Jiaxing Entertainment's top agents and Liu Rulan's longtime rival, always created a tense atmosphere whenever they met.

Tian Heng chuckled lightly: "You really haven't changed after all these years - still so impulsive, leaving without even a word."

"Normal job transition, no need to make a public announcement, right?" Liu Rulan sneered, "But as for certain people, let me give some advice - be careful when reaching for gold bricks, you might just grab shit instead."

Xiao He: "Pfft—"

Sister Liu really had a way with sarcastic remarks.

And this was killing two birds with one stone.

Tian Heng didn't get angry though, just gave Xiao He an ambiguous look before saying to Liu Rulan: "Well then, I hope you and your gold brick have a prosperous future together."

Then he took his assistant and, just like Liu Rulan had done, began distributing drinks and snacks to the crew members.

This display seemed like he intended to confront Liu Rulan head-on.

Xiao He asked Liu Rulan: "Sister Liu, are you okay? Is there anything I should do?"

Liu Rulan glanced at him: "What could possibly be wrong with me? I terminated my contract with Jiaxing amicably. That Tian Heng guy is just naturally narrow-minded. You just focus on filming your scenes properly."

Xiao He: "...Alright."

Not long after Tian Heng left, producer Ma Qianyou came over to inform them: "This afternoon there will be fans visiting the set. Please make preparations in advance."

Xiao He frowned.

Fan visit? He hadn't received any prior notification about this!

Liu Rulan also raised her eyebrows, looking at Ma Qianyou: "Fan visit? When was this arranged? We didn't receive any notice."

Ma Qianyou looked somewhat surprised: "We sent someone to notify you yesterday."

Liu Rulan glanced at Xiao He, who shook his head slightly.

Having figured out the situation, Liu Rulan didn't say anything directly but instead smiled and nodded at Ma Qianyou: "Okay, we understand. Thank you for the reminder, Producer Ma."

Ma Qianyou scanned both of them, probably guessing that someone had interfered, but as long as this didn't affect their production's interests, he wouldn't actively get involved. He simply pretended to know nothing and turned to leave.

Once Ma Qianyou was gone, Liu Rulan asked Xiao He: "Are you sure no one notified you about this?"

Xiao He specifically took out his phone to check group messages, then shook his head: "No one notified me, and there's no announcement in the group either."

Liu Rulan snorted coldly: "They only know how to play these petty tricks."

She turned around and picked up the script beside Xiao He: "What scenes are you filming this afternoon?"

Xiao He thought for a moment before answering: "It's the scene where Meng Zetian arrests Bai Mingchuan."

"Case solved then."

Liu Rulan quickly skimmed through the script, her expression calm: "The fans will mostly be watching this scene of yours. This script involves both kicking and fighting. If you perform well, they'll definitely put you on trending blacklists. But if you perform poorly, they can still get you trending."

Xiao He stared in astonishment: "Huh? It can work like that?"

Liu Rulan looked at him as if it were obvious: "This is the entertainment industry where even professionalism becomes a selling point and viral material. If someone's willing to get you trending a few times, they're actually showing you respect - at least they're spending money on you."

Xiao He: "..."

Well, well, well, if they're willing to put thought into scheming against me, that's at least something.

"Then should we ask the director to change this afternoon's filming schedule?"

"That's definitely not possible. These filming plans are arranged well in advance. If you dare to change it, they'll immediately put you on trending topics."

Xiao He: "..."

Really? Is it that exaggerated?

Xiao He didn't understand, was greatly shocked, and humbly sought advice: "Then what should we do?"

"What can we do? Just act normally, and leave the rest to me to handle."

Manager Liu tugged at the corner of her mouth almost imperceptibly, her eyes looking even more fierce than Xiao He's.

"These little tricks are all things I've played with and moved past long ago."

Xiao He silently averted his gaze.

For some reason, he felt like Sister Liu was emanating dense resentment... Ahem, lighting a candle for those people over there.

-

On the other side, just as Liu Rulan had guessed, Tian Heng returned to Su Shengxi's side and earnestly instructed: "I've already prepared everything for this afternoon's matter. You just focus on acting properly, don't do anything unnecessary."

Su Shengxi nodded: "I understand. It's just that Sister Liu's side—"

"Hmph—" Tian Heng snorted coldly, "What? Still concerned about your old agent?"

"Of course not." Su Shengxi sneered, "I just want to tell you that she's not someone to be trifled with. Since you've come to be my agent, you must be more capable than her and won't involve me, right?"

"Naturally."

Tian Heng crossed his arms, a cold glint flashing in his eyes: "You know Tong Junhui, right? When he withdrew from the industry back then, I was half responsible for it."

"Tong Junhui? That award-winning actor Sister Liu used to represent?" Su Shengxi paused, looking his new agent up and down, "You did that?"

Tian Heng thought about what happened back then and pressed his lips together: "Well, it wasn't something I could accomplish alone, but... alright, let's not talk about this. My point is, you can rest assured. Liu Rulan is no match for me."

people who genuinely liked him. "You don't think I'm too fierce, like a bad person?"

Ever since acquiring that dark aura, everyone's first impression of him hadn't been great. It usually took gradual contact for people to change their views.

But these fans had never met the real him, never conversed with him - how could they be willing to so sincerely like a complete stranger?
