Chapter 43 - Chapter Forty-Three: A Promise for a Lifetime

Guan Xing did not answer. He simply glanced at Sun Yiran and asked, "Is the food ready? I'm a bit hungry."

In truth, he was not really hungry. He just did not know how to begin. He had never intended to hide anything from Sun Yiran, and he knew that sooner or later, this matter would have to be faced.

Sun Yiran sensed it too. She revealed a faint smile and said, "The food's ready. I'll bring it out. Husband, you know what? I've already found office space for Xingran Company. I can go sign the contract tomorrow. And I've contacted a few good friends—when they heard I was starting a company, they were all willing to come help me."

When she reached the kitchen door, she suddenly turned back and sent him a charming, flirtatious glance, smiling as she said, "But don't worry, husband. They're all women—and very pretty ones."

The dishes were still rich, the taste still delicious, yet this meal lacked the warmth it usually had. Guan Xing did not speak. Although Sun Yiran diligently picked food for him, it only made his guilt heavier. Even forcing a smile felt difficult.

After the meal, Sun Yiran did not ask anything more. She simply spoke gently, telling Guan Xing to go wash up first.

Leaning against the headboard, Guan Xing closed his eyes and thought about everything that had happened that day. In his heart, he decided that no matter how difficult it was to speak, Hua Ruobing's matter had to be made clear to Sun Yiran. It was his fault, after all.

The bedroom door opened softly. Sun Yiran walked in with a towel in her hands, wrapping her long, flowing black hair. She slowly came to the bed and leaned her back into Guan Xing's embrace. Her faint body fragrance carried a breathtaking allure, drifting gently into his senses.

"Husband… do you already have a woman you truly like?"

Sun Yiran had already spoken the answer she needed.

She was a woman. From Guan Xing's hesitation, she had already understood. Although she had not loved him for long, she already knew his character well. This man was not someone who clung indecisively. Such difficulty could only come from this reason. After all, a man who did not even care about ten billion dollars—what else in life could make him unable to speak?

"Even if you don't say it, I know," Sun Yiran continued softly. "Husband, you can not love me, you can even dislike me, but please… don't lie to me, okay?"

She put down the towel. No matter how strong she was, she was still a woman. As tears slid down, her stunningly beautiful face carried a fragile, pitiful tenderness.

Having finally found someone to rely on, Sun Yiran had poured everything into him. There was no way back anymore.

Guan Xing lifted her beautiful face, kissed her gently, and licked away the crystal-clear tears. Seeing her cry broke his heart.

"Yiran, I love you—very much," he said softly. "You don't need to doubt that. In this lifetime, I want to have you. In the past, I was unruly and never thought about marriage or family, but your appearance stirred something deep inside me. Yiran, you have truly entered my heart and will stay there forever."

Her sobbing gradually subsided. Guan Xing's words brought her shy joy. No matter how strong a woman is, she cannot resist sweet words and solemn promises from the one she loves. Sun Yiran was no exception.

"Ruobing is a good woman," Guan Xing continued. "Actually, we already knew each other before you appeared. But I never dared to think too much about her. She is too pure, too devoted. I was afraid I couldn't give her what she deserved. Yet… she fell for me for the first time."

"Just because of one careless sentence from me—that I don't like virgins—she actually thought of…" Except for God's slaughter of the Yun family, Guan Xing told her everything about Hua Ruobing and what happened the night before, without omission. Once he started speaking, he realized that there was nothing that truly couldn't be said.

Silence fell.

After he finished, the room sank into quiet.

Finally, Sun Yiran let out a long sigh and said, "I thought I was the only foolish woman in the world—so muddle-headed, giving myself to you without hesitation. I didn't expect there to be another woman even more foolish than me. Or perhaps, women who fall in love with men are all equally foolish."

After murmuring this, Sun Yiran slowly turned around to face Guan Xing, their eyes meeting. There was a calm sincerity in her gaze.

"Husband, Sister Hua truly deserves your love. I've never seen a woman so devoted. From now on, she'll be your girlfriend. I… I'll just be your little lover instead. I like being your little lover. That way, I can indulge myself and don't have to cook for you every meal anymore. Hehe—remember, from now on, let Ruobing wash your clothes. I'm on strike."

Her eyes glistened, but no tears fell. Guan Xing could feel her sorrow, yet she smiled sadly. Her charming allure, carrying a bewitching affection, rippled like waves.

Her soft red lips were already pressed to his. As her nightdress slowly slipped off, spring scenery unfolded. Her warm, alluring body stirred an irresistible tide of desire within Guan Xing, wave after wave.

"Husband, love me," she whispered. "No matter how many women there are outside, you must love me just like this. Yiran will always stay by your side—forever belonging to you."

That night stirred Guan Xing even more deeply than the one before. On her delicate, graceful body, the fusion of love and passion reached perfection. With a woman's gentle devotion, Sun Yiran moved Guan Xing's heart. For the rest of his life, he would cherish her, protect her, and treat her with utmost care.

The next morning, everything returned to normal. With traces of lingering passion on her face, Sun Yiran looked even more enchanting. Even during breakfast, Guan Xing couldn't help but pull her close and kiss her several times.

"Husband," Sun Yiran said, "you should keep that money yourself. Xingran is just starting—two hundred million dollars is already enough as seed funding. Once the company framework is set up, I'll find ways to bring in business. I'll work with every pharmaceutical company in China to bring in at least one drug. You mentioned imported medicines before—we should move quickly so I can prepare the advertising copy. Oh right, husband, you're a doctor. If you have connections in hospitals, remember to help promote us."

Guan Xing was momentarily speechless and laughed awkwardly. "Madam Yiran, please—this kind of thing, I really can't use connections. That'd be too embarrassing. Let's take it slow."

Sun Yiran shot him a seductive glare and scolded, "Husband, this is your company. I'm just working for you. I'm making money for you, you know? Don't be so irresponsible. How much is face worth?"

Sweat. His wife's mastery of ruthless business logic was truly impressive. Guan Xing admitted defeat.

"By the way," he said quickly, "I didn't go to work yesterday, so there's a lot to handle today. I'm heading out. Yiran, you've worked hard. If it ever gets too tiring, just come home and be a housewife. I'll support you."

Before Sun Yiran could reply, he grabbed his coat and fled out the door.

Watching him leave, Sun Yiran couldn't help covering her mouth and laughing. She muttered to herself, "Who would've thought my husband cared so much about pride? But he's really heartless too—the company hasn't even opened yet, and he's already thinking about it failing. Hmph, I won't let him get his way."

A sense of happiness mixed with faint melancholy filled Sun Yiran's heart. In the pampering love of the man she adored, she once again thought of that woman—Hua Ruobing.

"What kind of woman is she, really?"

Shaking off her thoughts, Sun Yiran took out her newly bought phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, A-Ling? It's Sister Ran. Yes, that place. Go ahead and rent the entire floor at yesterday's agreed price. Once the lease is signed, start renovations immediately. Tell the contractors—I'm giving them only one week."

With a lifetime of love secured and her dreams still ahead, Sun Yiran felt that even if she could never marry Guan Xing, she would have no regrets in this life.

When Guan Xing returned to the company, he received a call from Cheng Yunya asking him to come over. After greeting Sister Fang, he took the elevator to the top floor, to the general manager's office.

So early in the morning, all three of Feiyang's great beauties were present.

Cheng Yunya was as elegant and graceful as ever, noble and refined. Qin Yunlu's bright eyes sparkled with youthful liveliness, though there seemed to be a bit more reserve on her lovely face.

Only Hua Ruobing had changed the most. The once ice-cold fairy seemed to have fallen into the mortal world. When she saw Guan Xing, a shy, joyful expression immediately appeared on her face. Her slightly bashful, girlish demeanor was plainly noticed by the other two women.

A woman in love was indeed different.

"Doctor Guan, good morning," Qin Yunlu teased shamelessly. "You look radiant and full of energy—seems like you've been enjoying some romantic blessings. So, how is the figure of our Feiyang ice beauty?"

"Yunlu! What nonsense are you saying? How can you say something like that?" Hua Ruobing protested shyly. After one night of passion, her girlish heart had bloomed, and what she now revealed was the rich charm of a newly awakened woman.

Cheng Yunya also smiled and said, "Well, if someone dares to do it, why can't we talk about it? Doctor Guan, you're really impressive. In just a few months, you've already won a beauty's heart. So—are you planning to take the next step?"

"The next step?" Qin Yunlu asked in confusion, her face full of curiosity.
