Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 – Volunteering as a Wife

After dropping the three women off at their homes, Guan Xing didn't take too long, thanks to his trusty "King" car. Cheng YunYa was with her parents, while Qin YunLu and Hua Ru Bing were both living on their own in rented apartments, having come to Kyoto to pursue their careers. They invited him inside, but Guan Xing politely declined. It was already late, and he wasn't about to put himself in a potentially compromising position alone with two women at such an hour.

Besides, when it came to emotional matters, Guan Xing wasn't exactly the type to suppress his desires, and he wasn't looking to complicate things at the moment. He had enough on his plate back home, and the last thing he wanted was to add any emotional baggage to the mix. With a simple goodbye, Hua Ru Bing flashed him a sweet smile and wished him goodnight, which Guan Xing couldn't help but appreciate.

It was already past ten o'clock by the time he hit the road. Rather than head straight home, he decided to take a leisurely drive along the quiet outer ring road. The atmosphere was peaceful and calm, with the coolness of the nearby lake air gently washing away the stress of the day. The road, flanked by clear water on one side and green grass on the other, stretched toward the hills in the distance, offering a taste of rural serenity amidst the urban chaos. This place, far from the oppressive buzz of the city, was where Guan Xing often came to clear his mind.

If it hadn't been for the three women accompanying him earlier, he might have taken more direct action with Qian Bao and his gang. The thought of what could've happened made him realize how close he was to losing control. He had a violent nature, something honed during his years on the "heavenly" battlefield where force was the law, and taking lives was often a means of survival. However, he didn't want to expose the women to that kind of brutality. People like Qian Bao weren't worth getting his hands dirty over.

Still, there was something about the person who could mobilize health department officials to act against him. That caught his curiosity. Was someone already aware of his real identity? He thought of Xia Ziliang, the general manager of Huaxia Group's Qingfeng Pharmaceuticals, and that mysterious woman who seemed to be connected to the company. With Xia Ziliang involved, things were bound to be more complex.

But Guan Xing shook his head and dismissed the thought. Five years had passed since he left, and he had changed so much. If it wasn't for a few close individuals, no one would be able to recognize him now. Still, it bugged him. Who would go through so much trouble to challenge him so forcefully?

As these thoughts swirled in his mind, he breathed deeply, letting the moist, fresh air calm his nerves. But then, something unexpected caught his eye—a woman, elegant and slender, standing near the riverbank. She was holding a bottle of alcohol, desperately drinking from it, as though trying to drown her sorrows in the night. It was a tragic sight, and her despair resonated with him. This was the third time they had met.

She was a striking woman, dressed in a black gown that swayed gently in the breeze. Her long, beautiful legs were exposed, and the faint fragrance of her skin seemed to draw him in even from a distance. Guan Xing stopped his car but didn't get out right away. He could sense the pain she was in without needing to approach her. She was clearly struggling, trapped in a sea of emotions that she couldn't escape.

Her tears, unvoiced but potent, glistened in the light as she tilted her head back, drinking deeply. Her curves, accentuated by the way the dress clung to her, were intoxicating, but it was the despair in her eyes that drew him in. She wasn't just a beautiful woman; she was a woman at war with herself.

Guan Xing could've left, but something told him that he needed to intervene. This wasn't just any ordinary encounter—it felt fated. Without saying a word, he parked his car and walked toward her. By the time he reached her, the bottle was empty, and her body had given in to the alcohol. She collapsed, exhausted, onto the railing.

Her long black dress couldn't hide the powerful beauty of her figure, and despite the messy situation, she was undeniably captivating. Guan Xing, with an instinct he couldn't quite place, decided to take her back to his place. She had already been in distress when they first met, and perhaps, he thought, tonight he could do something to help her get through whatever she was dealing with.

It was now the third time they'd crossed paths, and each time, it felt like fate was pushing them together. This time, he decided he wouldn't just let her spiral out of control.

Later that night, when they arrived at his apartment, Guan Xing tried to ease her into a more comfortable state. She seemed emotionally spent, and he gently laid her down on his couch, making sure she was resting peacefully. Guan Xing didn't expect to sleep well that night. But by morning, he was in for a shocking surprise.

He woke up to the soft scent of milk, followed by a sweet voice calling out, "Honey, wake up. Did you sleep well last night?"

When Guan Xing turned around, he was taken aback. The woman, the one he had rescued, was snuggled up against his back. She had wrapped her arms around him, pressing herself against him intimately. Her warmth radiated through him, and the sensation was so overwhelming that he was momentarily at a loss for words.

She was wearing one of his T-shirts, and underneath, she seemed to have discarded everything except for a pair of small panties. Her slender figure, partially revealed, was simply mesmerizing. It was a sight that nearly knocked him off his feet.

She giggled, covering her mouth, and said, "Honey, what's wrong? Do you think I'm more beautiful now?"

Her teasing smile and the flirtatious gleam in her eyes made it clear she was fully aware of the effect she was having on him. For a moment, Guan Xing lost his composure, the raw desire within him awakening in an instant.

But just as he was about to lose himself, she pulled back and playfully said, "Honey, I made breakfast for you. Hurry up and wash up."

Her voice was soft and caring, yet Guan Xing couldn't help but feel like he was in a dream. Was this really happening?

After taking a quick shower to calm his racing thoughts, Guan Xing sat down to breakfast, which she had apparently prepared. She had taken the food from the fridge—food meant for late-night snacks—and managed to turn it into something surprisingly tasty.

Sitting across from him, the woman smiled sweetly and said, "Let me introduce myself. My name is Sun Yiran."

Guan Xing looked at her calmly. "I'm Guan Xing, a doctor."

Her eyes sparkled mischievously as she leaned closer. "Guan Xing, remember, from now on, I'm your wife. I know you don't have a girlfriend or a wife, so I've decided to volunteer for the job. I'm quite beautiful, you know? Many people have told me so."

Guan Xing almost choked on his food. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. This woman wasn't just playful—she was serious about this. Did she really think she could just claim him as her husband like that?

But looking at her, he couldn't help but wonder—where would this strange relationship go from here?
