A strange place, that is the only way the boy could describe that place that the boy woke up in. The boy could not see, not because there was no light, more of because there is nothing to see yet, at the same time the boy could see clearly. He could move around but no matter how much he tried, he'll find himself still in the same place. The boy decided to call this place the void as it best described where he was. Was he right? He doesn't know as this is just one of many thoughts to keep himself awake because something inside him told him not to sleep. Not that he felt sleepy or hungry, in fact, he felt nothing at all but he knew that he should not sleep. He has been doing the same thing over and over. Moving around while thinking on ways to improve even if there are none, making scenarios and solving them, making theories to advance what he knows about the universe, not that it mattered anymore, creating ways to make magic real and how he would use it but at last, this was all for nothing as he knows he is already dead, but even then he knows that he should not succumb to the feeling of slumber. He must stay awake and wait, and wait and wait, but for what? He does not know, all he does know is that he will continue until something changes, until something feels different. And for eons this is what the boy did till now because now is the moment he felt something changed. He looked around to see but as said before, there was nothing to see. The boy still felt that thought telling him to surrender and sleep but he also felt something calling him. And so he moved towards it and it felt right. One step forward, an actual step forward. Not like the ones he took before where no matter how much he moved, he would stay still. A step that actually moved him. The boy wanted to stay and study this phenomenon but something inside the boy urged him to keep moving as if danger was approaching but the boy saw nothing around him. But the boy listened to his instincts as they have never failed him before and he also felt something was wrong. So he made progress towards whatever was calling him. Step by step he got closer and the feeling grew stronger and so the boy sped up as he was impatient and whatever was coming was getting faster as well. He ran for a long time, for how long the boy doesn't know as this run was longer than even the wait for the change. Not by a small amount either but the boy did not care as after so long he actually saw something. A light of into the distance, as small as the stars in the night sky, the boy chased after it. It gave off an angelic, harmonic ring, one that no matter how long you listen to, would never get tried of and instead would hope it kept playing. But to no avail, no matter how far he chased the light, it never got closer, in fact it did the opposite. The light was getting farther and that beautiful ringing sound along with it. The light kept getting farther and farther and farther until eventually it disappeared. And so, the boy stopped moving as there was no point any more. The feeling of change disappeared and the only feeling left was whatever was coming for him. Whatever it was, was not coming in peace, the boy could tell this but the boy did not care any more as he had been here for far too long. The hope he had disappeared along with that light. So the boy decided to face whatever was coming for him. And so the boy waited and waited. This time though, it didn't take as long. The thing chasing him seemed to be getting faster exponentially. And in a year or two, the boy could see what it was. A light but not like the other one, this one was pitch black. While the other light gave off peace and hope, this one gave a dreadful feeling, one of despair and misery, pain and suffering, loneliness and sorrow. And just like the other one a sound could be heard, screaming. Not of a little girl being scared but of screams of terror and suffering and not just one but what seemed to be an infinite amount. But the boy did not care, for something is better than nothing so with his mind made up he waited. Until the dark light was right in front of him. At first it was huge and blinding but in the initial confrontation, unlike the boy originally thought, the light did not consume him, and unlike he thought the light wasn't big, nor was it blinding. It seemed to still be the size of a star in the sky with the same brightness and it just hovered around him, circling as if it was looking for something. The boy just stared, waiting for it to do something, anything but the light did nothing. And after a while, it started moving along once more. Startled, the boy yelled at it to stop and tried to grab it but the light didn't stop and phased right through his hand. Once more the boy chased after yet another light but just like the other, the light disappeared into the distance as if it was never there. The boy was done. He knew not of how long he had been here but knew that with time, if any actually passed here, quadrillions of universes could've been created and then died out and that still wouldn't be anywhere close to one percent of the time he's been here. He finally decided to listen to the first thought that he had been feeling. The one telling him to rest. It was time for him to rest, he thought to himself. Even though everything in his body told him not to, he didn't listen. All he wanted was to disappear from this place and it didn't matter how it happened. And with that single thought something once more changed. A new light appeared, not in the distance but this time right just a couple steps in front of him. This one gave a neutral feeling, not evil or good, like if it had just been born. The boy didn't raise his hope this time like he did for the last two but still took a step forward fully expecting the light to run away, but it didn't. And so the boy took another step and still the light didn't move. The boy then took another and another, with each step the boy's hope grew and after half the distance from the light was covered everything shook violently. The boy looked around at what could be causing the shaking and saw the two lights from before. But this time they didn't give the feeling from before. They looked angry or at least the boy thought they were as they seemed to be heading straight for him and the new light. Like a dragon hoarding their treasure and never to use it, keeping it for themselves but then all of a sudden a thief appears saying that he would use the treasure unlike the dragon. The boy doesn't know how he knows this but he didn't like feeling like an object to the light and so he ran towards the new light. The lights behind get closer and closer, he could tell by the brightness of it all. Lights seem to be getting faster, way faster than they have ever been. The boy was just an arms reach from the new light, but everything was too bright. The lights were right behind him but they didn't want him, they wanted the new light. The boy hated that. The lights care not for him but for the new light that just appeared. For the entire time he was here, the lights only just now gave him some attention, but even then, they never gave him the rest he wanted. But now this new light was offering something to him, the old lights wanted to take that away from him. With determination, the boy grabs the dark light with his right hand and the white light with his left. He holds on to them just as they both collide with the new light with his hands in the middle. He felt his hands burn from the collision. The light produced blinded him, even if he closed his eyes, the light shone through. It was too much as the boy feels his conscious fading but he tries to resist but he can't and so he passes out and sleeps even though that the one rule he should follow but for some reason, it feels right. The boy wakes up.
