Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : Divine Docter

Chapter 4 — Divine Doctor

"Yes, Lady Aurelia… our situation is pitiful."

"Yeah, I can see."

Honestly, Aurelia had expected Martha's camp to be a good shelter for her and Lucian. That was why she agreed to join them. But after seeing the ragged tents and weary faces, she felt something strange stir inside her — a responsibility she had never known before. This camp might be their shelter, but she realized she had to become the shelter.

"Let's go, my lady," Martha invited softly.

"Okay."

Martha introduced Aurelia and Lucian to the group and gave them a small tent. Then she told the story of what had happened in the forest — the wolf encounter, her father's sacrifice, Aurelia's battle, and the healing that saved her.

The survivors didn't react with shock to the death of Martha's father. Tragedies like that had happened too often in recent months. But one detail caught their attention: Aurelia's healing. In this camp of five hundred, more than two hundred carried injuries or disease. Word spread quickly, and soon people wanted to meet her.

Martha stopped them.

"Why, Martha? Why can't we meet Lady Aurelia?"

"My child has had a fever for five days!"

"…."

"It's not like that," Martha explained firmly. "Lady Aurelia has already done so much. She needs rest tonight. Tomorrow you can meet her. She won't disappear by then, right?"

Reluctantly, the crowd dispersed. Martha had managed to protect Aurelia's peaceful rest.

Night faded quietly. When morning came, the sun's rays slowly embraced the forest, and birdsong echoed through the gloomy camp.

Aurelia stirred awake, her first thought for Lucian. She found him lying beside her, breathing softly. She patted his head and smiled faintly before stepping outside.

The moment she left the tent, a woman blocked her path. Unlike Martha, she wore clothes of slightly better quality, though still worn. Her gaze locked onto Aurelia as if she had been waiting all night. Her eyes were red from crying, her face pale from exhaustion. There was beauty in her features, but grief had stolen it away.

She grabbed Aurelia's hand, voice trembling.

"Please… my lady… help my child. He has had a fever for five days."

Her words broke into sobs.

Aurelia's heart was weak against tears, especially when they came from a mother begging for her child.

"Okay, bring the child. I'll take a look. But don't have high hopes," Aurelia said, guilt pressing on her chest. She knew she wasn't that powerful.

The woman ran to another tent and returned carrying a small girl, no older than six. The child's pink hair clung damply to her forehead, her skin pale and clammy. She looked fragile, as if the fever had drained all life from her.

Martha whispered, "Her name is Carmilla." She placed the girl gently beside Lucian.

"Oo... martha you are her"

"i just fallow luna"

Glitchy, Aurelia thought quickly, do you have any special skill for this?

The system snorted. [Of course I do. You want me to scam this girl right now? I'll do it.]

Aurelia rolled her eyes. Not scam. Help.

A pause, then: [Don't worry. This girl only has a mild fever. She's too weak, that's why it hasn't gone down. Just cast your basic healing spell.]

Aurelia knelt beside Carmilla and took her tiny hand. She closed her eyes and activated her healing skill.

Golden motes of light shimmered into existence, swirling gently around her fingers. They drifted like fireflies, settling on the girl's skin. Aurelia's own hair caught the glow — a few strands shifting from dark to radiant gold, as if touched by dawn.

The child's breathing steadied. Her pale cheeks flushed with faint color, and the tension in her body eased. The fever's grip loosened, replaced by warmth that was gentle, not burning. Slowly, Carmilla's eyelids fluttered, and she let out a soft sigh, as if her small body had finally found peace.

Lucian leaned closer, whispering, "Mom… she looks better."

The system chimed in Aurelia's mind.

[Congratulations, host. You have obtained the title: Divine Doctor Lv.1.]

Aurelia blinked. "Divine Doctor? Really?"

Lucian's eyes sparkled. "Mom, you're a doctor now!"

Lucian's eyes sparkled. "Mom, you're a doctor now!"

Aurelia turned to him, raising a brow. "When did you wake up, Lucian?"

He grinned sheepishly. "Just now… I didn't want to miss it. You looked amazing, Mom. Like the stars were helping you."

Aurelia sighed, brushing his hair back. "Stars or not, I only did what I could." She glanced at Carmilla, who was now breathing peacefully, her tiny fingers curling around Aurelia's hand as if refusing to let go. For the first time since arriving in this world, Aurelia felt the weight of hope pressing against her heart — fragile, but real.
