Deja vu is the brain's way of saying you've been here before. Lucian Moon was experiencing it at maximum volume. He had stood here before and had done this. He had no explanation as to how he knew that or why.
The thought arrived and left in under a second, dismissed by a brain that had more pressing concerns, specifically the scent that was still detonating through his nervous system and the wolf that was still slamming the word MATE against the inside of his skull with the subtlety of a battering ram.
Fin caught it. The flicker. The deja vu. The briefest crack in Lucian's composure that suggested his soul remembered what his mind did not.
The recognition lived in a place that had no name. Deeper than memory. Deeper than instinct. A place where Lucian's soul had stored the ending of a story his brain had never been told, and the ending was screaming at him through a closed door.
"Yeah," Fin said quietly. "You've been here before, brother."
