Chapter 14 – Shadows Behind the Smile
The Xun family villa was silent, but the air buzzed with tension.
In her room, Xun Lanyue stood by the mirror, staring at her own reflection. Her hand clenched the edge of the dresser until her knuckles turned white. She had painted her lips in a perfect smile, but her eyes burned with fury.
"He hugged her. In front of me. Hugged that fool," she whispered, her voice trembling with suppressed rage."What does she have that I don't?!"
The door creaked open.
Jin Wurou strolled in casually, a bruise darkening one cheek, the faintest trace of dried blood still at his collar. He carried a glass of wine, swirling it as though the humiliation at the bar had been nothing.
Lanyue turned sharply.
"Brother! He dared to touch you—!"
Wurou raised a hand, smirking.
"No, sister. He didn't just touch me. He humiliated me. In front of everyone."
His smile faded, leaving only cold sharpness.
"Han Zixuan thinks he can break my bones and walk away? That fool girl has already bewitched him. She's no idiot, I can feel it. She's dangerous."
Lanyue's chest heaved, her eyes wild.
"Then let's destroy her. I won't allow her to stay by his side. She's mine to crush, not his to protect!"
Wurou chuckled softly, taking a sip of wine.
"Calm down, little sister. Revenge isn't a dish we serve raw. We'll let her act her silly fool act. The longer she stays in Han Zixuan's heart, the more blind he becomes. And the more blind he is…"
He leaned close, his voice like venom.
"…the easier it will be to cut them both down."
Lanyue's smile returned, brittle but beautiful.
"Then let's make her regret ever being born."
In the flickering candlelight, their shadows stretched long across the walls, intertwining — two predators weaving their trap.
