"Oh Kat....." Lars frowned as he read the note from Katarina. When he woke up from his slumber, he was confused why Katarina and her belongings were gone, which was when he found the note she left.
'Hey.... So I just got promoted and reassigned. It's classified of course. I just want to apologize for suddenly leaving without telling you anything, the agents were really insistent that I be quick.
I really enjoyed my time with you. Without a doubt you brought some light into my boring life in the Chasm. So I'm gonna miss you....
Anyways, I hope you get out of the chasm soon(I still don't know why or how you got in here by the way). Let's meet each other soon, even though we're probably gonna be enemies the next time we meet.
See you soon, Lars.
-Kat'.
Lars sighed after re-reading the letter before placing it aside. He stepped out of his tent. "I don't even know why I'm expecting her to be near the campfire." He mumbled, clutching his sword tightly.
"Well, no time to waste, gotta get to training."
Lars pushed himself more with an increased vigor, finding that his strength would increase with it. He noticed that the Ruin Guards would appear more now ever since he defeated the first one. Lars didn't dwelve on it much, but it really is a coincidence.
As time passed, Lars found that he could slice through their metal bodies easily now. He felt in his body that it was trying to achieve something, but he wasn't sure what that 'something' was. Yet again, he didn't think about it too much.
But now, his goal was to fight the boss of this Chasm. The Ruin Serpent. It's a boss found in the game, and he found out that it actually existed from his conversations with Katarina. So Lars made defeating it his final goal before he would make his way out of the Chasm.
"Well, if I'm not wrong, it's hideout should be right... over... here..." He muttered as he was faced with a giant ominous cave. He sighed as he clutched his sword tightly.
"Well here goes." Lars made his way in the cave, only to find himself standing in a big opening. But the Ruin Serpent was nowhere to be found.
"Did it chicken out or something?" He joked to himself before he narrowed his eyes as the ground started to rumble violently. Not long after, a giant metallic serpent burst out of the ground and landed in front of him.
"Hah, I should shut my mouth sometimes." He mumbled as it charged towards with speeds unbefitting for a giant metal snake.
"Woahh!" Lars quickly jumped back as the robotic serpent almost crashed straight into him before digging itself into the ground once again.
Lars stared at the spot where it burrowed itself. He had a feeling that something bad was going to happen, so he got on his guard. Just then, a giant metal drill, spinning furiously, popped out of the ground and quickly fell towards his direction.
"Ah shit!" Lars attempted to dive away, drill slammed into the ground, sending a giant shockwave that blew Lars away. He grunted as he tumbled on the ground ungracefully, rolling to a halt.
Lars coughed as he got up, gripping his sword tightly as the Ruin Serpent re-emerged. Without letting Lars have a chance to breathe, It slammed itself on the ground before it started rolling to its side, steamrolling towards him.
Lars was able to leap over its spinning body just in time before he charged in and delivered some slashes to it, only managing to cut out small chunks of it.
'Crap. Its body is tougher than those Ruin Guards. Well what did I expect? It's a 'boss' after all.' He thought before taking a few steps back as the serpent straightened its body again.
"What is it doing...." Lars whispered in confusion as the Ruin Serpent started to spin around rapidly. He noticed an orb being charged up at the center of where it was spinning. The orb quickly rose up high before the serpent suddenly burrowed itself again.
That's when Lars realized. It was—
"A BOMB!" A large explosion rang through the open area as Lars managed to jump away just in time. But then, from the explosion, multiple orbs were heading straight towards his way.
Lars swiftly dodged them, as one of the orb exploded before him, blocking his vision and sending dust flying to his face. He coughed a little as he found himself surrounded by a smoke screen.
He widened his eyes as he noticed a silhouette approaching him. The serpent emerged before he could do anything. He didn't have time to dodge out of it's way. So he charged in and clashed with the serpent.
The clash lasted for a few seconds. Lars gritted his teeth as he was putting all of his strength into it. And throughout it all, his sword started cracking, but Lars didn't noticed. After all, there were more concerning problems in front of him. But it was to no avail as he was easily overpowered by the serpent.
"Aghhh!" Lars yelled in pain as he was sent slamming straight into the cave wall. He slid down the wall and lean against it, coughing non-stop.
'I think my ribs broke...' Lars thought before he coughed once more. Well, this was what he got for overestimating his abilities. But Lars was stubborn, he wasn't about to cry, or question his fate. There was always a way for him to get out of this.
"Oh you thought I was done?" Lars smirked at the serpent. It then sent down it's tail drill towards him. Lars, despite his body being in pain, forced himself to leap out of the way.
Lars winced as he felt a surge of pain going through his body. But, he wasn't about to give up. He clenched his fist and glared at the serpent.
It didn't care that he was in pain. Showing no mercy, it started charging headfirst at him. Lars clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "C'mon stupid body.... Break your limits..." He growled as the snake got closer.
"C'mon..... C'MOOONNNNN!!!"
Lars felt something coursing through his body. The feeling was indescribable, maybe it was enlightenment. But what he could tell right now, was that it was an incredible surge of power.
"RAGHH!!" Lars threw his fist straight towards the metal snake. A giant boom resounded as a shockwave was created from the crash. Lars grinned as he stared at his fist coated in a black tint.
"Well, you came in at a convenient time...." He put more strength into his fist, winning the clash as he sent the Ruin Serpent flying back into the cave wall.
He grinned, cracking his black knuckles while staring at his work. His body was ignoring the pain as adrenaline coursed through his veins like a drug.
"Let's do this, stupid snake!"
To be continued....
(Well well well, the convenient power up returns.)
(oh and gimme power stones)
