12 members of the entire assault assembly were killed. 10 were wounded, and 3 of those seriously. 26 freed captives were dead out of 8,348 that were no longer slaves. King Wen's ministers calculated that over 40 million gold coins worth of value had been stripped from the enemy stronghold. The daring bank raid by the stonekin and assassins constituted the bulk of this amount. So the stonekin were awarded 4 million gold coins, and the sandkin were awarded 1 million gold coins. After the value placed on lives and the awarded amounts were removed, approximately 24 million gold coins remained. Of this number, the crown kept half, as it was through their offices that the mission even took place. 2 million was set aside for freed captives to have a stipend as well as bereaved families of the fallen. 8 million coins were then split among the 300-plus assault team members, resulting in roughly 25k coins per team member. 17 prisoners were taken, 3 of whom were valuable intelligence assets. One general was taken, though he was badly wounded.
Ming Tao was the most useful of the intelligence officers. He recognized right away that his life would be forfeit if the Zon ever took him back, so he wholeheartedly joined the effort to strip the castle and integrate himself in Thrain's machinations. He toured the castle, as it was being stripped, pointing out hidden caches and safes. He helped gather the most sensitive papers and fully cooperated in every way. Ming Tao was half Thrainian and half Zon; his father had been a brilliant Zonian general, and his mother a beautiful genius Thrainian slave. They had fallen in love, his father had resigned his commission, and the couple had retreated to a small Zon backwater to live out their lives. When Ming Tao was born, they trained him rigorously in every art and avenue of higher learning. The king granted Ming Tao certain freedoms for his actions, though he was watched closely. His first action as a free man was to hitch a ride to the estate, and so he found himself in front of Arya.
Arya was healing, he left hand would never be the same, but her shoulder wound was being treated, and the healers said she would soon be as good as before. Elanor and Arya were having an informal chat when 4 stonekin and Ming Tao were shown in. Elanor was discussing the fact that there were over 6,000 treekin and that they had access to only 5 ships. One of the stonekin, a rather slender fellow, spoke up, "Begging your pardon, your ladyships, perhaps we stonekin may be of service in this matter?" Both Elanor and Arya looked at him, and Arya motioned for him to explain. The man bowed and began, "The stonekin earned great monetary rewards for their part in this raid. A good deal of that money has been spent on two very large vessels and some crew to handle them. But there are only about 1000 of us willing to make such a long voyage to new lands. We stonekin are not sailors by nature, your ladyships, but we mean to throw our lot in with you, as you all head to new lands in the east. Perhaps excess treekin can fill out our crew and ships? We mean to join your assembly and voyage with you; we will pay as we can and offer the full services of our people in the meantime. We have come to realize that the stonekin, as a people, will no longer be able to survive in our homelands here. We wish to resettle as we can in the east if you will allow." Ming Tao said, "The stonekin are correct, the Zon will overwhelm this part of the world. Perhaps this raid will have set them back a year or two, but they will flow over everything here. They are also now aware of the East and what it might represent in their ambitions to conquer the entire known world. I, too, wish to throw my lot in with you all and journey to the east, for my life is forfeit here, I know. Please, if you will have me, I will swear full fealty and help you in any way that I might." Ming Tao bowed deeply while introducing himself. Arya looked at Dirk, who had attended this meeting, and Elanor, who both nodded, and Arya said to them. "Kneel and swear full fealty to Westeros forever." They knelt and swore, and Arya got a thoughtful look on her face and wondered aloud, "I wonder how House Glover will feel having a new Warden over the North West taking some of their lands and improving their lives?"
Back in King's Landing, Bran was having very troubled sleep and awoke with a shout. "Arya is in trouble...we are all in trouble. I hope she comes home soon. This enemy may be the death of us all." He shouted for his ministers and sent a message to Winterfell for Sansa to come quickly. There would be many changes in the North soon, and it was best to get started as soon as possible. He summoned his war captains and informed them of an upcoming invasion that they might only stave off if they started preparing right now. "But your eminence, we have no evidence of an invasion now," they responded. Bran spat at them, "You have me and my visions and my connection to my sister, who is among the enemy now!"
