Chapter 50 - Bonus3– The Guest Lecturer

Jane adjusted her glasses for the third time in five minutes.

"You don't have to come," she said, glancing at Levi. "They're just students."

Levi raised an eyebrow. "You say that like they don't already intimidate me."

Jane laughed. "You faced a dragon general."

"Yes," Levi replied calmly. "These are teenagers. Much worse."

They arrived at the lecture hall together. Levi wore a subtle illusion—no horns, no wings, her demonic aura sealed neatly beneath the pendant Jane had made. To anyone else, she was simply… striking. Tall, composed, quiet in a way that made people look twice.

The students noticed immediately.

Whispers rippled through the room as Levi took a seat near the front.

Jane cleared her throat. "Alright, everyone—settle down. Today's lesson is about spell stability and ethical application. We also have a guest observing."

Levi inclined her head politely.

A hand shot up immediately.

"Yes, Kai?" Jane sighed.

"Miss Elion," Kai grinned, "is she your wife?"

The room exploded into laughter.

Jane turned bright red. "She is not— we are not— class, focus!"

Levi, however, smiled faintly.

"Partner," she said calmly.

The laughter stopped.

Jane stared at her. "You didn't have to—"

"I wanted to," Levi replied softly.

The class stared in open fascination.

Jane recovered, rubbing her temples. "Right. Moving on."

As the lesson continued, Levi listened closely. She watched Jane move between magic diagrams and tech schematics with confidence and patience. The students respected her—not because she was powerful, but because she cared.

Another hand rose.

"Question," Lena—no relation to Jane's friend—asked. "What happens when magic and instinct conflict?"

Jane paused.

Before she could answer, Levi spoke.

"Then you learn restraint," Levi said evenly. "Power without control is not strength. It's fear wearing armor."

The room went quiet.

Jane blinked. "That's… actually perfect."

The students nodded slowly, scribbling notes.

After class, a few lingered.

"Miss Elion," one student said hesitantly, "is your partner a mage?"

Levi smiled gently. "No."

Jane raised an eyebrow.

"I'm a reminder," Levi continued. "That what we survive doesn't have to define what we become."

The student nodded, thoughtfully.

Outside, walking home, Jane bumped Levi's shoulder lightly. "You know you basically terrified them, right?"

Levi hummed. "Good."

Jane laughed, slipping her hand into Levi's. "Thank you for coming."

Levi squeezed her hand back. "Thank you for letting me see the world you're building."

For a demon queen who once ruled through fear—

Watching Jane teach hope was its own kind of victory.
