Chapter 3 - 3: Killing

She never lifted her eyes from the food. I wanted to laugh but it would be disrespectful. I still depended on her after all.

I stood up and walked to my teachers. They towered over me. I was still a child, so everyone towered over me. It was tiring to look up when talking to someone.

The other two tensed, clearly sensing the tension brewing in the air. My magic teacher was a good-looking man. He was a ten star magician and we'll know in the capital. He was also kind to me, most of the time, but he had the bad luck of being my teacher.

My combat teacher was the complete opposite, with a fiery temper, full of bulging muscles, and a face only a mother would love, but despite this, he was ranked as one of the top adventurers.

Unfortunately for them, they worked under his Majesty and reported to him about my family's progress. It was their duty after all.

"Young master what are you doing?"

My magic teacher asked softly. They all tried to move back, but they couldn't; I had locked them down in place.

" Gravitas"

I chanted under my breath. They all fell down on their knees in front of me. We are at eye level now.

I plunged the knife into my etiquette teacher's neck, stabbing directly into her jugular. She tried to lift her hands to her neck but my magic kept her fixed in one place.

Blood started sputtering the moment I pulled out the small knife.

I glanced at one of the shaking servants. He came forward carrying a glass and placed it under her neck. Blood filled the cup as fast as life drained from my struggling teacher.

They should have expected this, any teacher sent to the Bloodmoor estate never leaves. Secrets were better kept by the dead.

The teachings of the Bloodmoor family that mother had ingrained in me when I was still an infant seemed to have worked really well. Anyone with the Bloodmoor blood was meant to stand on top of the world. I had become a true noble.

It seems my identity as a rencarnator did not affect my judgment or change at all, but it wasn't bad. Being merciful is inviting doom to oneself.

"Young master you cannot destroy the hand that fed you."

My magic teacher said curtly. I laughed at that, it was ridiculous how delusional he was.

"What can I say, I'm ungrateful ."

I plunged the knife into his neck and did the same to my physical instructor, who thankfully, had accepted his fate. The servants fetched their blood and brought it back to the dining table.

I threw the bloodied gloves to the floor before walking back to the dining table to enjoy my fresh human blood. It was still warm.

All of us knew the king wouldn't bother with their deaths, that was the cruelty of this world I was born in. Peasants were nothing but mere playthings for Nobles, left to scrape their way in life, only for it to be torn apart by a bored Noble.

Unless they became an adventurer there was little to no chance of changing their lives. My beloved teachers were lower nobles just the same as peasants to us.

"Sister how is the academy?"

I asked sister Seraph. I was genuinely curious since she spent most of her time there and rarely came home after she got admitted at sixteen. She still had two more years before she could come back home and help her mother take care of the estate.

"Very well... the third prince is trying to court me. Foolish. Does he think I wouldn't notice his condescending eyes every time he looked at me?"

She was clearly displeased by his advances. Sister Seraph was the epitome of beauty but from the looks of the Prince was probably trying to get the Bloodmoor support through Seraph but sister was going to inherit after mother of course she would know his intentions.

" And what do you plan to do about it?"

Mother asked. She took a sip of the fresh blood I had prepared for her. The king was getting older and the princes were all trying to find support. Bloodmoor was the most powerful but we maintained a neutral standpoint in the Kingdom. Why waste our time on matters of mortals?

As long as they didn't bring their fight into our dukedom we'll remain that way.

"I thought of draining him but that will be too much of a hassle. Killing him directly would be better."

Sister said nonchalantly.

" That would bring a lot of backlash Sister. Why don't you give him to me, I might be able to put him to good use. "

I interjected. An idea was brewing in my mind but it would require several experiments before I could perfect it.

My sister's face twisted into utter disgust. She was not a fan of what I was doing.

"Are you still not going to stop that disgusting practice. It's for lowly nobles and commoners. Do you enjoy dirtying your hands that much?.... Mother, tell him. "

She turned to mother for support. She hated that I practiced alchemy despite being magically gifted. Like her she wanted me to focus solely on magic and physical training.

I did focus on them but it seemed it wasn't enough for her. She was a sword fanatic so it was understandable.

" Your sister is right in some parts, your obsession with alchemy is getting out of hand. I have received complaints from the servants. You should focus more on your magic. I want you to be the best magician in the kingdom. "

I was surprised. Mother had been supportive at first but it seemed she was getting tired of my late lights in the laboratory.

" I'll think about it.. "

I gave the generic answer I always have when I get scolded by mother whenever she decides to. I looked up at my sister. She was smiling smugly at me as if she had worn a fight.

Sometimes she was a little endearing and competitive but her qualifications as the heiress were solid. She was the epitome of a gifted child.

Only a few people on earth could achieve what she had achieved single handedly and that was what made her special.

She started reading at barely two, was good at socializing with the nobles, carried herself just like mother and to top it off she was talented on both ends.

"I asked you the first time, but you evaded the question. What maid would you like? you are too old for a nanny. "

The nanny was the one who fed me blood when I was little and helpless. I could only lie there as I soiled myself and waited for her to change me. That had also been the worst moment of my life.

With the body of an infant, being attacked with repeated nightmares and the inability to even do anything but lie there as perspiration soaked by body was not a feeling I would love to go through again.

An adult in a defenseless child's body was not something I would love to experience.

"Can't I just find my own?"

I asked. I didn't want a maid assigned by mother. She would definitely report everything I did to mother . I wanted loyalty, blind loyalty to be exact. A maid assigned to me by mother would not be ideal.

"Mother stop worrying about those useless things. Just let brother buy a slave if he doesn't appreciate your concern."

Seraph chimed in. She was definitely goading mother against me. I could look after myself so I didn't need a maid or a slave.

"Then you will buy a slave for yourself ."

Her decision was final.

" Where will I get money to buy a slave mother, I've unfortunately spent all my money?"

I asked. I had indeed used all my allowance to fund my research. Although mother indulged me, she still took my experiments as a child whims something I would eventually move on from.

I had been waiting for this month's allowance so that I can buy ingredients for my next phase in my research. I was sure I would make a break through after this.

"I'll give you your allowance in advance."

She smiled at me while she said this. Mother never smiled unless it was something she was satisfied with.

It seems despite being her favorite, she still did not like that I dubbed in research. It was a dirty and time consuming activity, something that no high ranking noble would do.

She was trying to cripple my research. Sister was also smiling as if she won a war that I didn't know I was participating in.

A slave.

These were people who were treated like mere animals. Peasants at least had freedom but slaves none. An obedience spell forced on them from the moment they were marked and sold to the highest bidder.

With the amount of money I got as my allowance, it was enough to buy a slave but I would not be able to buy all the ingredients for alchemy.

"But..."

I tried to argue but mother banged her hand on the table. Everything shook and some glasses broke. It was lucky the table didn't break in half.

"Lucian Bloodmoor,if you do not do this you won't get any allowance for the month."

She said her voice was loud and commanding . I could feel the pressure emitting from her forcing me into submission.
