Chapter 5 - Experience

Clutching the game helmet, I distinctly felt my heart rate accelerate. Half a year had passed, and I was, after all, returning to my old path of gaming!

Unlike before, this time I was playing an online game. Although I'd heard that success in moons constant depended on one's personal gaming talent, I wasn't confident. Gaming talent? That was like a mirage.

Donning the helmet, my brain instantly felt cool. When I came to, I found myself standing on the edge of a cliff in the cold night. Looking down, my hands had clear lines; this must be my in-game reflection, right?

The ancient-style clothes made me feel very awkward, but the cold wind on the cliff made my garments flutter, adding a unique charm. Looking up at the sky, a moon casting a blue glow illuminated the land. The void beneath my feet was transforming into a gruesome battle scene.

Amidst the blaring horns, disciplined formations of human cavalry charged fearlessly forward, their riders brandishing long spears and sabers. Streaks of ghastly white light sent shivers down one's spine. A group of mages, protected by the knights, slowly advanced, chanting obscure incantations. Massive fireballs erratically plunged into the enemy's ranks, illuminating the dark night.

In the firelight, I clearly saw that the human legion was facing—an enormous Bone Dragon!

Pathetic flesh and blood, both from the dragon and the human knights, clung to its blood-red dragon wings. Fireballs struck the dragon's bones with a "sizzle~" and then vanished.

A dense, dark mass lay beneath the Bone Dragon. Only upon closer inspection did I realize they were Skeleton Warriors, devoid of flesh and blood. They wielded bone shields and rusty steel swords, clashing with the human knights!

The cavalry's powerful charge tore open gap after gap in the Skeleton Warrior formations, only for them to be endlessly refilled. Knights who entered the hordes of Skeleton Warriors were immediately isolated, yet they continued to fight valiantly, repeatedly piercing the Skeleton Warriors' ribs with their lances. When their warhorses fell, they immediately drew their swords and continued to battle. Blood slowly flowed from their bodies. The Skeleton Warriors seemed inexhaustible; whenever a human warrior fell in a pool of blood, their flesh and blood silently dropped away, and the eye sockets of their skulls flickered with a dim light before they joined the ranks of the Skeleton Warriors!

A tangible ripple spread through the air, instantly disintegrating the Skeleton Warriors within a few meters into piles of shattered bones. Immediately after, a milky white light fell upon the wounded knights, and their bleeding wounds rapidly healed. The human priests had finally arrived!

From a distance, dozens of dark Undead Mages were hidden behind the Skeleton Warriors and Bone Dragon; they were the ones orchestrating this bloody slaughter!

Several blurry figures appeared beside the Undead Mages. They had been waiting for an opportunity, and finally, as the Undead Mages concentrated on summoning a second Bone Dragon, a blood-red light flashed across the Undead Mages' putrid necks. Daggers hidden in dark cloth revealed their chilling blades.

Screams rose and fell, and the Undead's strength gradually weakened. The human Thieves had actually decided the victory of a battle!

In the distance, behind the human camp, a group of old, weak, and sick villagers watched the slaughter with wide eyes.

It turned out that what the warriors were fighting to the death for was their home!

The two large characters "moons constant" faintly appeared in the sky, and the war below was drawing to a close.

"Hoo~"

I couldn't help but let out a long breath; this promotional video was absolutely brilliant!

The scene gradually dissolved, and I then appeared at the edge of a spacious forest. Various operation prompts appeared at the side of my vision. To be honest, a game with 70% virtuality like this was much harder to operate than keyboard-controlled games. Fortunately, I did have some talent for gaming. After nearly two hours, relying solely on keyboard and brainwave commands, I could already perform various actions with ease. By the time the game officially launched, I estimated that killing monsters wouldn't be an issue.

It seemed the official website indicated that it would take three days for a normal person to adapt to moons constant's controls, yet I only took two hours. Could this be the so-called gaming talent?

Then I thought, when I played WAR3, I could make six effective clicks per second. It was natural for someone with that kind of operational skill to adapt to a new game quickly. I just wondered if my "old acquaintances" could also master the controls so fast. Ye Qiu's operational speed was even a bit faster than mine; if he abandoned Warcraft for moons constant, he probably wouldn't be far behind.

"Ding! System notification!"

"You have been online for eight hours. Please take a rest!"

"This is your first time using this helmet. Do you require iris lock?"

I quickly clicked confirm. After spending most of the night, it was already 3 AM when I took off the helmet. I quickly washed up and went to bed. If Xu Lin saw me still awake at 3 AM, she definitely wouldn't give me a good look.

Lying in bed, I was still thinking about the feeling of the game. Such a realistic game truly made one look forward to it. Before the game started, many functions were not yet enabled, such as pain and taste systems, which were currently off. Also, there wasn't a truly personalized character yet. It was said that character's facial features in the game were confirmed by scanning the player's face with the helmet and could be modified appropriately, but it couldn't turn a dinosaur into a beauty.

That's good too, but I bet a shameless woman like Xin Yu would definitely modify her appearance to be even prettier. That would make it easier to hook men... but she was already very beautiful, and even without modification, she could charm a whole bunch of single-minded men. Lu Xuehan, of course, was even more stunning; her face was the kind that would make men drool.

Xu Lin was also beautiful, but compared to Lu Xuehan, she had a more enchanting charm and was a bit more mature. If body scanning were available, she would probably choose a Night Elf MM, which would surely make many wealthy young masters in the game devotedly follow her around.

Speaking of which, after half a year here, I'm still not entirely sure what her identity is. She never entertains clients, and although many regulars made such requests, she always politely refused them. Xu Lin is also quite good to her employees, at least she doesn't deduct salaries or commissions.

Lost in thought, I finally drifted off to sleep. When I woke up the next day, the sun was already high in the sky. Fortunately, the others seemed to have played for too long as well; I was actually the first to wake up.
