Chapter 82 - Chapter 82 : Guilliman's Resurrection

Facing Calgar's inquiry,

Alex replied, "I am the spokesperson for the Emperor's will. You may call me Guide."

"You are not Sanguinius?" Calgar frowned.

It was no wonder he asked that; the resemblance was simply too striking.

Alex shook his head, "I'm sorry, I am not."

Calgar scrutinized Alex again,

and found that his face indeed did not resemble Sanguinius in the images.

Realizing that the other party was truly not Sanguinius, Calgar stopped asking further questions,

and turned to walk towards Hera Fortress,

"Let's go, I'll take you to the Primarch Sanctuary."

...

On the way to the Sanctuary,

Grand Master Woldaes of the Grey Knights Third Brotherhood also joined the procession to meet the Primarch.

Calgar had summoned him,

evidently, Calgar did not fully trust Alex and the others.

The Players curiously observed the Grey Knights, discussing them in their communication channel.

The Grey Knights were also a legacy left by the Emperor and Malcador for humanity,

and were experts at fighting demons.

They soon arrived at the magnificent Primarch Sanctuary.

Thanks to Alex, the Warmaster, Tenjiro, Bald Donkey, and other Players were able to enter with them.

The Primarch Hall was like a colossal arched tomb,

marble columns soared, supporting a dome of stained glass and obsidian,

the dome adorned with murals depicting Guilliman's past victories.

The dying Guilliman sat silently on an exquisite throne, eyes closed,

the wound on his neck clearly visible, blood glowing like jewels,

a greatsword rested on his knees, the Emperor's own Sword.

A stasis device stood beside the throne, humming.

The matrix emanated a stasis field of ethereal light,

keeping the Primarch forever in the second before death.

The pilgrims walked to the throne, Cawl's auto-reliquary automatically following them.

"Is this the blue sun in the hearts of Ultramar's citizens??"

"What you said is strange, a bit like the general's style."

"Are you thinking of eating the general's loyal orange??"

"I've always wondered something: when Horus was stabbed, Abaddon and them panicked, insisting on sending him to the Davin Temple. Why didn't they send him into a stasis field and call Holy Terra (Earth/Reality)?"

"Don't ask. If you ask, it's because Ahriman didn't allow it. If you ask again, it's the great power of the Chaos Gods / The Four Gods. If you still ask, it's the great Black Library at work."

"Heretical statement, calling the Inquisition."

"You keep calling me a Heretic. Believe it or not, I'll report you to Holy Terra (Earth/Reality)."

"It's time for another plotline. Can't we just start fighting directly?"

"You're the type who mashes the spacebar and skips all the cutscenes when playing games."

"I have no interest in the cause and effect; I just want to go on a rampage."

"..."

The Players joked around, showing no seriousness, which made Calgar frown slightly.

If it weren't for the Living Saint Celestine saying they were God Chosen,

Calgar would have really wanted to throw these guys out.

"Now can you tell me why you absolutely must see the Primarch?"

Calgar took a deep breath and asked Cawl,

Having personally seen the Primarch, Cawl no longer insisted and revealed his mission.

Years before Guilliman was gravely wounded by his brother Fulgrim,

he had summoned Cawl and entrusted him with certain tasks.

The first task was for him to recover the original primogenitor and create a new batch of warriors to become the protectors of the Imperium.

The rebellion of the Astartes made Guilliman realize the risks of large-scale legions.

However, if the scale was not large enough, the Astartes' abilities would be insufficient to bear the heavy responsibility of protecting the Imperium.

Guilliman hoped that Cawl could make the Astartes even stronger,

so that they could perfectly uphold the Codex Astartes,

becoming the Imperium's special forces, protecting the Imperium from alien harm.

Unfortunately, a few years later, Guilliman was sent to the ICU by Fulgrim's sword.

Without resources, Cawl struggled, only able to slowly accumulate resources.

The second task was that Guilliman, considering how Horus was ambushed by a Warp-infused weapon and then sent to the Davin Temple, eventually falling into corruption,

and how he himself was stabbed by Ko'Farlon of the Word Bearers with a Warp dagger during the Battle of Calth, almost falling to Chaos,

to resolve the hidden danger of being manipulated by Chaos, Guilliman made two preparations.

First, he carried a stasis field device with him,

so that if he were ever gravely wounded,

he would not be sent by his helpless sons into the temple of some dark god.

Second, he instructed Cawl to create equipment capable of purging Warp evil forces.

Due to insufficient resources, Cawl's progress was slow,

and he only completed the commission recently.

Now, all that was needed was to equip Guilliman with the completed Armor of Fate, and he could recover.

At these words, the entire hall was shocked,

even Greyfax and Amaric's eyes widened.

They knew Cawl was coming to Macragge for a major undertaking,

but he hadn't said it was to resurrect the Primarch.

Chief Librarian Tigurius and others showed excitement on their faces,

if the Lord of Ultramar could be brought back, it would be a tremendous boon for the Ultramarines.

For the now fragmented Imperium, it would be even more of a stabilizing force.

Yvraine stepped forward, "This is also why I am here. I am the God Chosen of the God of Death,

"The miracle of reviving a Primarch, Cawl's efforts alone are far from enough; the power of the God of Death is also needed."

"And to revive Guilliman, we must first let him die once."

No sooner had Yvraine's words fallen than Calgar's face showed shock,

followed by volcanic anger.

"Alien, are you joking?"

"While I am here, none of you are permitted to lay a hand on the Primarch."

Woldaes stood by Calgar's side, wary of the Aeldari before him,

Greyfax and Amaric also followed closely.

The surrounding Ultramarines raised their weapons,

pointing their muzzles at Alex, Cawl, and the many members of the Death Guard.

Calgar watched the God Chosen warily, concerned they might act.

However, he found them all standing at a distance, not even drawing their weapons, just watching.

This made him somewhat suspicious that there might be something wrong with these God Chosen.

Things were about to escalate here, yet they could still heartlessly watch the show.

As the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, Celestine stepped forward,

"We are only doing this to bring the Primarch back. Please give us some trust."

"This is the Emperor's will, and even this Guide," Celestine pointed to Alex, who was standing to the side, "even the Guide received the Emperor's guidance and came to assist us in completing the mission."

Chief Librarian Tigurius strode forward, standing beside Cawl, and looked at Calgar.

"We should trust him. I see that his threads of fate are tightly bound to the Primarch."

Calgar was about to object.

The next second, urgent alarms blared.

Boom!

A sky-blue Thunderhawk Gunship, spewing black smoke, crashed through the dome of the temple and plummeted to the ground.

Before everyone could react, the Thunderhawk Gunship's assault ramp suddenly opened.

A group of Black Legion Chaos Space Marines charged out, raising their guns and firing wildly at the Loyalists.

A panicked report crackled over Calgar's comms.

The orbital space station had fallen; the enemy had infiltrated the evacuation teams aboard Thunderhawk Gunships specifically for the Ultramarines, and had now stormed into Macragge City.

Before Calgar could recover from his shock,

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Continuous explosions echoed, shaking the very ground.

Hell Talons continuously broke through the Ultramarines' anti-air defenses, landing within the Primarch's temple.

Chaos Space Marines poured out in an endless stream, unleashing fierce firepower.

This was just the beginning.

A terrifying Warp rift appeared out of thin air.

Accompanied by piercing screams,

A graceful figure slipped from the Warp into Holy Terra (Earth/Reality), dancing gracefully.

"Masked Dancer?"

Upon seeing the newcomer, Yvraine and the other Aeldari felt their hearts sink.

The Masked Dancer, also once known as Slaanesh's Masked Dancer,

is the Prince of Pleasure's most infamous daemon and vanguard.

She was once the Chaos Gods Slaanesh's most favored dancer and chief handmaiden.

However, due to one incident, she lost the Prince of Pleasure's favor.

In the Chaos Gods, the never-ending strife and wars between the Chaos Gods are called the 'Great Game'.

During this period, Tzeentch tricked Slaanesh into an unwinnable game against Khorne and Nurgle,

a provocative war destined to fail.

It ended with the Prince of Pleasure's complete defeat and subsequent humiliation by his arch-rivals.

The Masked Dancer, seeing her master in a bad mood, took it upon herself to please her master with the most exquisite dance.

Her leaps and spins once made the Dark Prince laugh and happy.

But this time, Slaanesh was enraged by the defeat; he saw the Masked Dancer's attempt to please him as mockery.

He branded the Masked Dancer a traitor and cursed her,

"If you want to dance so much, then dance forever."

The Masked Dancer's dance was incomparably beautiful and extremely alluring, capable of captivating the gaze of all living beings.

Even Players blessed by the Emperor found it difficult to resist.

One by one, they stood rooted to the spot, their eyes glazed over.

Only the Warmaster and Zigman remained unaffected.

One had a heart like stone, unshakeable.

The other was a Soulless, unaffected by the Warp.

Alex was the first to act.

Wielding a long spear in one hand and the Holy Judgement Blade in the other, he charged directly at the Masked Dancer, intending to prevent her from seducing the Imperial Loyalists with her dance.

A sharp blade appeared in the Masked Dancer's hand.

Her swordsmanship was like a patterned venomous snake, both beautiful and deadly.

As Alex and the Masked Dancer clashed, the others also joined the fray.

Celestine drew her blazing blade, humming a battle hymn as she charged into the enemy.

Amaric did the same, leading his Black Templars brothers to slaughter the Chaos Space Marines.

Woldaes fired his bolter while calling for support.

Cawl did not join the battle; he walked towards Guilliman on the throne, carrying the Auto-Reliquary.

The Skitarii, Death Guard, and Chief Librarian Tigurius guarded him.

Cawl moved quickly.

His mechanical arm operated swiftly.

The reliquary opened layer by layer, revealing a set of exquisite sky-blue Power Armor.

The mechanical arm extended towards the throne, slowly beginning to cover the entire throne.

"No!" Calgar, currently engaged with the enemy, roared in anger.

"Stop it, in the Emperor's name, stop it quickly, Brother Tigurius, stop him."

Chief Librarian Tigurius refused Calgar.

"I'm sorry, I cannot. This is the only chance for the Primarch to return."

Calgar was furious, yet helpless.

He was entangled with the enemy, unable to break free.

Soon, the Auto-Reliquary perfectly enveloped the Primarch's body.

Yvraine swung her sword, severing the cables supplying the stasis field, ending the Primarch's life,

then used the power of the Death God to attempt to awaken him.

The Chaos forces' offensive grew fiercer, wave after wave.

Hell Talons continuously fell, smashing the temple into ruins.

Black Legion, Iron Lords, Midnight Lord, Alpha Legion, and other legionnaires continuously emerged.

Under overwhelming firepower, the Ultramarines fell one by one.

Even the fearless Terminators were reduced to shattered corpses in the hail of bullets.

The defeat of the Loyalists was a foregone conclusion.

As time passed, the readings on the Auto-Reliquary returned to zero.

A clear, pure prompt sound and a voice praising the omnissiah resonated.

Like a sharp blade, it effortlessly cut through the clamorous battlefield, silencing everyone.

The Auto-Reliquary emitted a pleasant sound, its mechanical gears turning, slowly unfolding like blossoming petals.

The Primarch, who had just been pale and could only remain eternally one second before death due to the stasis field, opened his eyes.

His presence was unparalleled, like a sweeping storm, shaking the hearts of every living being on the battlefield.

The Primarch surveyed the battlefield, his extraordinary mind instantly comprehending the entire situation.

His eyes burned with rage, and the Emperor's Sword in his hand blazed with fervent flames.

At this moment, a Khorne Berserker stepped forward, wielding a battle-axe, and charged towards the Primarch amidst the shocked gazes of his comrades.

He intended to claim the Primarch's head for the Blood God.
