Before any more of this verbal push-and-pull can go on between us and the toxic siblings, a distant, tense murmur ripples through one side of the Grand Hall.
Our conversation immediately stops. Lucian, Adrian, Sylrienne, and my eyes all dart in that direction.
The crowd of gossiping nobles is actively, cautiously backing away, leaving a wide circle of empty space. Standing perfectly in the center of that space is a tall, incredibly well-built Elven noble. He radiates a heavy, suffocating aura of pure, condensed force. And worse... he is standing directly in front of Grandpa Eldric.
I catch sight of the arrogant, razor-sharp smirk on the Elven man's handsome face as he leans in, speaking quietly to Grandpa.
Who does this guy think he is? I narrow my eyes, my instincts screaming at me.
I quickly lock onto the Elven man.
