Ye Sheng raised an eyebrow: "I heard Caesar bought you a Ferrari and set off fireworks for you for so long. I thought you must have been won over."
"What do you mean 'won over'? You make me sound like an NPC in a game," Nono said thoughtfully, wrapping a strand of hair around her finger. "I'm not like those silly girls who get overwhelmed by a grand confession and agree without thinking. Girls are sensitive, and many boys exploit that. I'm not sure if Caesar is that kind of person...
"That's true. Aki and I were discussing this on the plane in Cairo, worried you might be tricked by a scumbag."
Nono chuckled, "I definitely won't be tricked. But Senior Sister Aki, look how smooth-tongued Senior Brother Ye Sheng is. You should be careful about being tricked."
Sakatoku Aki's face grew redder, and she whispered next to Nono, "Ye Sheng and I are just colleagues. Don't talk nonsense..."
Aki's voice became softer and softer, and she buried her head lower, but she couldn't help glancing at Ye Sheng out of the corner of her eye, anticipating and nervous about his reaction.
Ye Sheng's face also flushed, but he quickly regained his composure: "You should still worry about Caesar. What if he doesn't give up and keeps sticking to you?"
"Well, that depends on his performance. Maybe one day he'll genuinely move me, and I'll agree in a moment of impulse."
Cheng Sui also noticed the commotion near Sakatoku Aki, his sharp hearing allowing him to catch some of their conversation.
Ye Sheng and Sakatoku Aki, are they here to interview me?
Cheng Sui took a sip of the Mushroom Cream Soup, feeling curious about the interview content.
It couldn't be like joining a club in his previous life, where they just asked about hobbies, right? Since he was going to be their sole contact during their infiltration, the interview should logically be much stricter.
The notification sound of a phone email interrupted Cheng Sui's thoughts.
Cheng Sui opened his phone and found an email sent by norma.
To student Cheng Sui, Class of 2005:
The 3E Exam scheduled for you by Principal Angers will begin at 2:00 PM, ninety minutes from now, in Classroom C202 of the Academic Building. This exam will re-evaluate your bloodline. Please be sure to attend.
Cassell College Central Hub. norma
Cheng Sui turned off his phone screen, finished the last bit of his meal, and let out a satisfied burp.
Since it was still early before the exam, Cheng Sui decided to wander around campus first to see if he could trigger any missions.
Nono took a sip of Coke, pointed her chin at Cheng Sui's retreating figure, and said to Ye Sheng, "So what interview did you arrange for him? I'm quite curious."
When this was mentioned, Ye Sheng and Sakatoku Aki exchanged glances, both seeing unusual emotion in the other's eyes.
Ye Sheng avoided Sakatoku Aki's gaze, scratched his head, and spoke hesitantly: "Actually, we didn't arrange it for him. The Principal did."
"The Principal?" Nono's voice rose an octave.
Sakatoku Aki quickly put a finger to her lips, signaling Nono to quiet down.
Nono realized her voice had been too loud, lowered it, and couldn't resist gently poking Sakatoku Aki's slightly baby-fat cheeks: "Why would the Principal arrange an interview for Cheng Sui for Professor Manstein's internship? Is the Principal that free?"
Ye Sheng shrugged and shook his head: "That's beyond our knowledge, but we can infer from Professor Manstein's words that the Principal places exceptional importance on this suddenly rising senior 'new student,' even more so than Caesar and Chu Zihang."
"The Principal is over a hundred years old and still so flamboyant every day. Could Cheng Sui be his illegitimate son?" Nono looked up, wearing a seriously thoughtful expression.
"Pfft." Sakatoku Aki couldn't help it and covered her mouth, chuckling softly.
Ye Sheng rolled his eyes: "Aren't you afraid Professor Manstein is nearby and will give you a demerit for damaging the Principal's reputation?"
Nono playfully stuck out her tongue.
"However, the mission the Principal arranged for Cheng Sui truly exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't have thought it was an interview task for a senior student's internship; it sounds more like a mission I should be doing."
Nono's curiosity spiked: "So what is his internship mission? Can you secretly tell me?"
Ye Sheng's expression turned serious as he looked at Nono and said:
"To single-handedly kill an A-rank Dangerous Hybrid who is loose in Chicago."
...Cheng Sui wandered around campus for half a day, but didn't trigger a single mission.
Checking the time, Cheng Sui headed straight for Classroom C202 in the Academic Building.
As soon as Cheng Sui entered the classroom, he saw a burly man with his back turned, eating something, reminding him of a bear stealing honey.
"Fingel? What are you doing here?" Cheng Sui recognized the back view and asked suspiciously.
Fingel turned around, holding a KFC Family Bucket, with a half-eaten Fried Chicken Leg in his hand, his mouth glistening with oil.
Seeing who it was, Fingel put the Fried Chicken Leg back into the Family Bucket and vigorously wiped his hands on his pants.
"Yo, junior, long time no see." Fingel extended his hand, a smile somewhere between fawning and radiant on his face.
Cheng Sui disdainfully pushed away Fingel's sauce-stained hand and looked over Fingel's shoulder to survey the classroom environment: "Fingel, why are you here? Are they suspicious that your bloodline assessment was wrong too? Like maybe it should be E instead of F?"
Fingel pouted: "Who wasn't A-rank back in the day? I'm here to collect the answer sheets. I get course credits for this."
"Since I'm the only one taking the exam, is it really necessary to send you just to hand out the test papers?"
"No choice, it's procedure." Fingel leaned close to Cheng Sui's ear and whispered mysteriously: "Be careful, your invigilator is the Head of the Execution Department, Professor Schneider."
Before Fingel could finish speaking, Cheng Sui heard the sound of a small cart scraping the floor outside the door.
A man wearing black leather gloves pushed open the classroom door. Von Schneider stood at the entrance, his gaze sweeping over Cheng Sui and Fingel before settling on the Family Bucket in Fingel's hand.
"No items unrelated to the exam are allowed in the testing room. Take it out." Schneider's voice was hoarse and thick, giving listeners an indescribable sense of strangeness.
Fingel straightened up and scurried out of the classroom, hugging the Family Bucket.
Professor Schneider watched Fingel's retreating figure, a flash of guilt crossing his eyes. Fingel had once been as proud as a lion, yet now he had become like this... But Schneider quickly composed himself, his iron-gray eyes fixed on Cheng Sui.
"You have already taken the 3E Exam once, so I won't elaborate on unnecessary details. Don't do anything irrelevant."
Looking at the man wearing a black mask in front of him, Cheng Sui maliciously wondered if the System would judge him to be Kakashi, since both of them wore masks.
"Understood, Professor." Although mischievous thoughts ran rampant in his mind, Cheng Sui maintained a serious expression and quietly sat down in his seat.
Schneider checked his watch and said hoarsely: "Place your student ID in the upper left corner. The exam begins."
