Chapter 29 - Service With a Smile

Jax stepped into the room—

—and stopped.

The scent hit him first.

Warm food. Melted butter. Fresh herbs. Candles. A trace of incense curling through the air like a lazy invitation.

The lights were low.

The table was set.

And surrounding it…

Four women.

Each dressed alike.

Each unmistakable.

Black-and-white dresses cut far shorter than any uniform had a right to be, aprons hugging curves they did nothing to hide. Lace trimmed bodices dipped low, offering more than polite society ever would. Stockings clung to toned legs. Ribbons. Ruffles.

And smiles.

Oh gods.

"What…" Jax managed, blinking once. Then again. "What is going on?"

Nyxian curtsied—smooth, practiced, exaggerated just enough to be dangerous.

"We are here to serve you, Master."

Jax felt his brain short-circuit.

He looked at them one by one.

Aurabelle—ears perked, dress riding just high enough to make him look twice.

Zee—cheeks flushed, hands folded nervously in front of her apron, eyes bright.

Llandra—standing tall despite the outfit, posture regal even now, pen and notebook clutched like part of a role she wasn't quite sure she could maintain.

Nyxian—smiling like she'd planned this moment for days.

They had always been beautiful.

But like this?

He would be lying if he said he didn't like it.

Understanding it, however, was another matter entirely.

Bunny shifted her weight, suddenly shy. "We wanted to… spice things up for you."

Zee nodded quickly. "Cosplay. Something different."

Jax let out a small, breathless laugh despite himself.

"You do realize," he said slowly, rubbing the back of his neck, "that my entire life here already feels like cosplay?"

They blinked.

"I mean," he continued, gesturing vaguely, "I live with a bunny girl, a succubus, an elf, and a woman who literally glows when she's happy. Isekai doesn't get more committed than that."

Nyxian snorted. "Fair."

Then his smile faded.

Something else crept in.

"I just…" He hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "I didn't realize you felt like we needed to change anything."

The room stilled.

"I thought I was paying attention," he went on quietly. "I thought I understood what each of you enjoyed. I react to your reactions—I try to. So when I saw this…"

He exhaled.

"For a second, I wondered if I wasn't doing a good enough job."

That did it.

Llandra froze.

Then stepped forward, eyes wide. "Oh—no. No, no. Jax, you've misunderstood completely."

Nyxian moved as well, placing herself beside Llandra, voice softer than he'd ever heard it. "This isn't about you lacking anything."

Zee nodded. "We're more than happy. Truly."

Bunny, completely earnest, added, "I reach fulfillment every time. Usually more than once."

Nyxian shot her a look. "Aurabelle."

"What?" Bunny shrugged. "It's true."

Nyxian sighed, then turned back to Jax, serious now. "This was… strategic."

"Strategic?" he echoed.

"The iPoints," Llandra explained gently. "We noticed they're slowing down. Fewer bonuses. Fewer firsts."

Nyxian folded her arms. "We thought that doing something new might help us level faster. That's all."

Zee clasped her hands. "Two birds with one stone."

Bunny nodded. "We like dressing up too."

Jax stared at them.

Then realization hit.

"Oh."

Relief washed over him so fast he had to sit down.

This wasn't about dissatisfaction.

This was about growth.

Optimization.

Trust.

A laugh escaped him before he could stop it. "I was genuinely worried my stamina was the issue."

Nyxian smirked. "Jax, you're amazing at that. Not just any man can go 8 times a night."

"And satisfy every single time," Bunny added helpfully.

He sighed. "Why do you feel like you need to level up so fast?"

Llandra answered without hesitation.

"To earn the right to stand beside you."

That stopped him cold.

He rose slowly, eyes moving from one face to the next.

"There will never," he said quietly, firmly, "be a time when you aren't standing next to me."

Silence.

Then—

Llandra's hands went limp.

The pen and notebook slipped from her fingers and hit the floor.

Zee's breath caught.

Bunny's ears drooped.

Nyxian swallowed hard, eyes shimmering despite her best efforts.

Jax took two steps toward them—

—and suddenly four maids were on him.

Arms wrapped around his shoulders. Kisses pressed to his cheeks, his neck, his jaw. Warm. Urgent. Grateful.

His perception flickered.

Watery eyes.

Every single one of them.

Even Nyxian.

She pulled back just enough to scowl at him. "Damn it, Jax. We paid for the costumes."

A beat.

"Let us finish the act."

He laughed—soft, full, completely undone.

He looked at them, at the table, at the candles.

Then he smiled.

"Alright," he said. "Serve me."

And four very satisfied Vixens grinned as one.
