Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Ultra-compact Nuclear Reactor

Chapter 19: Ultra-compact Nuclear Reactor

Kyle has a weakness!

Or rather, all humans in the future of the Terminator world have weaknesses.

Because the future of the Terminator world is extremely difficult; the battle between Skynet and humanity has no end, only the complete annihilation of one side can end it.

Under these circumstances, Kyle travels back in time to 1984. On the surface, Kyle's biggest goal is to stop the Terminator T-800, thereby protecting Sarah Connor, and ultimately having a child with her.

Emmm...

having a child is all for saving the world!

But if you look beyond the surface, Kyle's true purpose is still to save the world, save humanity, and avert the crisis of humanity being wiped out by Skynet.

Therefore, Marcus, standing on the moral high ground, changed Kyle's mind.

"Congratulations! The host has changed Kyle Reese's beliefs, causing fluctuations in the River of Destiny. The system has successfully collected 20 destiny points!" the Transcendence System reminded Marcus in his mind.

20 destiny points!

Marcus was secretly shocked. The destiny points he had previously obtained were insignificant, only one or three points. This time, he directly obtained twenty destiny points, which truly surprised Marcus.

"It seems Kyle is a very important variable!" Marcus thought to himself.

Marcus couldn't stay in the Terminator world forever. Even though he had already gained some influence there, with his Transcendence System, how could he possibly remain in the Terminator world forever?

After receiving the notification from the system, Marcus personally unlocked Kyle's handcuffs and then said to Richard, "Boss, could you help arrange an identity for Kyle?"

Richard jokingly replied, "Still an undercover agent?"

Marcus laughed, "Everyone knows Kyle's identity. Can't we just recruit him into our field office?"

Marcus added, "Kyle is also an elite soldier in the future world. He has extensive combat experience, and his overall qualities definitely meet our requirements."

Richard considered for a moment before nodding, "For now, consider him an unofficial member of our organization."

Kyle quickly thanked him, "Thank you!"

Richard nodded casually, "Wait a moment, I'll have Stevens take you to register your identity and get your credentials, but we can't issue you firearms for now."

Kyle nodded understandingly, "Okay, I understand."

While waiting for Stevens to arrive, Marcus added, "Stevens, could you please help him get cleaned up?"

Kyle's current appearance was a bit rough!

Stevens nodded affirmatively, "Okay." He then added, "Hehehe, Marcus, you'll pay the bill, right?"

"Of course," Marcus readily agreed, then added, "Kyle, get ready. Once we locate the Terminator T-800, we'll need you to handle some things."

"Huh?" Kyle looked at Marcus in confusion.

"The power cell inside the Terminator T-800 needs to be removed beforehand," Marcus explained.

The Terminator T-800 uses a compact nuclear power cell design, so in the original story, whether it was crushed into pieces in The Terminator or thrown into a molten steel pool in Terminator 2, it didn't explode.

In later Terminator sequels, the Terminator was upgraded to the T-850 era, using hydrogen fuel cells, which is why battery damage could cause an explosion.

Marcus asked Kyle to remove the power cell inside the Terminator T-800, not to prevent an explosion, but for the sake of that power cell itself.

Kyle agreed, "No problem."

After Stevens took Kyle away, Richard spoke up, "Marcus, are you really not confident?"

Marcus shook his head, "I really am not confident. Boss, only the future knows."

"I really hope for a bright future," Richard sighed.

Marcus shook his head again, "I'm sorry, the future is not bright at all. In the timeline I came from, humanity was on the verge of extinction, and I was the last hope of that era. If... sigh!"

Richard patted Marcus's shoulder reassuringly, "I believe we can change the future this time."

"I also hope we can change it," Marcus nodded.

It was almost six o'clock in the evening.

A phone call from LAPD broke the peace!

"Everyone move! Plan Three!" Marcus shouted as soon as he hung up the phone.

LAPD had received a report from a citizen that the Terminator T-800 had been spotted at a phone booth.

This was the best-case scenario!

As Marcus had anticipated, the Terminator T-800 first searched for Sarah Connor's address in the phone booth's directory, then proceeded to track her down, eliminating all possibilities.

The FBI's Los Angeles field team sprang into action, along with plainclothes LAPD officers, primarily responsible for surveillance.

Once the Terminator T-800's target was identified, the LAPD officers would notify the FBI's Los Angeles field office, and the field team would then pursue and intercept it.

"Kyle, you should be able to disassemble the Terminator T-800, right?" Marcus asked confidently.

Kyle replied, "Yes."

"That's good!" Marcus breathed a sigh of relief.

Kyle asked curiously, "Actually, the Terminator T-800's power cell has a rather limited overall power output. What do you need it for?"

Marcus then launched into his explanation, "Alas! In the timeline I came from, humanity was already on the verge of extinction; complete annihilation was only a matter of time. Electricity supply was severely insufficient."

"Wait!" Kyle seized on the key point, "You mean, you can still go back to the future?"

In fact, Marcus had intended to bring up this topic!

Marcus nodded slightly. "In the timeline I came from, temporal displacement technology was extensively researched. I have a biological device implanted in my body that allows me to return through time. Once I resolve things here, I might be able to return to the future."

He took a deep breath. "So, Kyle, I hope you won't disappoint me. If you keep our agreement and let time and fate flow in another direction, perhaps the future will be different. I..."

Kyle interrupted Marcus. "I will definitely keep my promise. Although it will be very painful not to be with Sarah, I will keep my promise and strive to change the future of all humanity."

"I believe in you," Marcus patted Kyle's shoulder. "Be careful when we engage the Terminator T-800 later. We can't issue you weapons right now; you can only step in and remove its power cell after we've subdued it."

"Understood," Kyle readily agreed.
