It was Penguin Logistics, after all—nothing they did was ever truly surprising. With all the chaotic nonsense that had happened before he even arrived, it wouldn't be shocking if he somehow got stuck holding the bag for Exusiai and the others. No big deal.
And reporting a suspicious, non-official military shipment—one entangled in the relationship between Columbia and Lungmen/Yan—should have counted as a major merit. When you added up the credits and debits, he should have been fine.
But the moment he heard the reason he was being held, Li Lin felt profoundly insulted.
Deeply. Historically.
"Harassment? Me? That's unbelievable! Are you sure? Me???"
He hadn't even touched the pork cutlet rice bowl. Staring at the serious-looking female officer across the table—glasses, proper posture, the whole deal—Li Lin nearly sprang out of his chair.
"A fifty-year-old woman accusing me of harassment?! I swear on my conscience! Penguin Logistics is a literal cloud of beauties, and I'm even living with them! Sometimes I can see them changing clothes! If I'm not harassing them, why would I go harass random passersby?!"
"Mm." The officer adjusted her glasses. "Your coworkers said something similar. Big courage in the imagination, zero courage in practice."
"Huh?!"
"I mean," she said calmly, "you never know with this sort of thing. In our line of work, we do run into… some fairly unusual cases."
She sat there, flipping through a file on the desk, face serious and composed.
And yes—she was serious, because Li Lin knew exactly who she was.
Ch'en Hui-chieh. One of Lungmen's most famous "well-connected" people.
Different from the blunt, scowling impression he'd once had, Officer Ch'en now came across more restrained, more even-tempered. She wasn't cold or inhuman when she spoke—but the way she carried herself was still razor-fast and decisive.
Even so, despite her competence and independent streak, everyone also recognized the obvious: she was top-tier, undeniably well-connected. Pair her with another "well-connected" figure like Swire, and then add the only one the average Lungmen citizen believed actually did the work—Hoshiguma, the former gang-affiliated powerhouse—and that was basically the upper core of the Lungmen Guard Department's operational leadership.
One look at that lineup and a bystander would think, LGD is doomed.
No wonder gangs were everywhere. Even the Rat King's daughter was running around with Ch'en—how was public security supposed to improve like that?
Not that any of it had much to do with Li Lin.
What he cared about was the enormous, filthy accusation hanging over his head.
"How can you think that? I'm a good person! I've lived in Lungmen honestly and diligently this whole time. I've never even done 'outside work,' Officer Ch'en. How can you frame an innocent man like this?"
"So we didn't arrest you," Ch'en replied. "We're simply not ruling out the possibility that you could have done it. And the accuser provided a very clear time and location."
"Right, because rich people's kinks can be anything, sure—but I'm not rich!"
Li Lin huffed in his chair, indignant.
"If I were going to harass anyone, I'd harass you, Officer Ch'en. Or Officer Swire. Or Big Sis Hoshiguma! You're all gorgeous, you're built like you mean it, and you're capable—honestly, you probably wouldn't even get mad… so why would I harass someone who isn't even attractive? What would I get out of that?"
"Ahem." Ch'en cleared her throat. "Please refrain from irrelevant remarks during questioning."
She went back to the documents.
"Leaving that aside—this is mainly about your identity. You need to acknowledge something, Mr. Li Lin. Your identification paperwork still hasn't come through, and your background is highly suspicious. You also refuse to cooperate with our investigation. That puts us in a difficult position. Lungmen is an inclusive city, but it is not a city that shelters filth."
Oh, come on—Lungmen has the audacity to say that? Are you joking?
The words nearly flew out of his mouth. But seeing the beautiful officer tilting her head slightly, he swallowed his commentary.
The situation wasn't in his favor. Officer Ch'en had decided—for whatever reason—that he was potentially "useful." In that case, this wasn't the moment to provoke her. This was the moment to wait for a price tag.
Smoothing down his emotions, Li Lin looked at her politely.
"…You're not wrong. So what do I need to do for Lungmen to consider me trustworthy?"
"Very simple," Ch'en said. "Are you willing to do something for Lungmen?"
Li Lin fell silent.
Across from him, Officer Ch'en crossed her legs and smiled as she nudged her glasses—posing in a way that made every advantage of her figure impossible to ignore. In his head, Li Lin sighed.
Here it comes.
No—wrong.

And this, right here, was exactly why he was always so repressed.
Every single one of them looked unreal, with bodies that made no sense… and yet they all acted calm, composed, perfectly collected—like he was the one who was abnormal.
Sure, from the perspective of this world, maybe he was abnormal. But even if he was, weren't they at least half responsible for dressing like that? You could walk down the street and see people wearing gauzy, semi-transparent outfits in broad daylight—others with their tails out, waistlines cut down to the V-line—
Was this really his fault?
Fate itself was out to get him.
And then, on top of being forced to process that kind of temptation, he still had to figure out what the person across from him wanted him to do. Was this a place meant for human beings?
He honestly wanted—desperately—to just grab those full, round curves and vent.
But tragically, aside from how people dressed, everyone here was somehow more proper than back in his old world.
So the world really was broken, wasn't it? Everyone was gorgeous, everyone dressed more revealingly than the last, yet somehow nothing ever happened. Right now he could practically see the deepest line of her thigh and the cut of her waist, the prominent curves of her body—and she had absolutely no reaction at all.
At this rate, he was going to lose his mind.
He needed to solve this early. Finding a girlfriend was the only correct path.
A mess of thoughts churned through his head. Li Lin sighed again.
"So," he asked, lifting his brows, "what exactly do you want me to do, Officer Ch'en?"
"Let me be clear first," he added quickly. "I'm just an ordinary person. No power, no special skills. The ways I can help you are limited. And I'm not going to sell out Penguin Logistics. Worst case, I'll quit and go run catastrophe-messenger shifts—I'm not betraying my rice bowl."
"I'm not asking you to make an unethical choice," Ch'en said. "We've worked together a few times. I do trust you, Mr. Li Lin. This time, I simply need a stronger relationship of trust."
She tugged at her snug uniform a fraction, then gave him a perfectly natural smile.
"You just need to be my informant."
