Chapter 3 - Chapter 3:An unreconciled death .

The cold harrumph was particularly jarring in the forest.

Tushan Lin paused in her stroking, her face stiff.

Tushan Xin was stunned, her mouth wide agape, she tugged at Bai Shou's furs hurriedly.

She explained nervously. "Sister Lin, don't blame Shuo'er, she lost her memories so she doesn't have a sense of properiety." She paused and shot a subtle warning to Bai Shou. " Shou'er, this is Sister Lin."

"Oh…., it's okay, I understand." Tushan Lin replied in a soft voice, her perfect and warm smile back in place .

Bai Shuo sneered inwardly. A Soul Transformation Realm expert with such good temper?

Pretentious!

"Hmph..What memory loss?A useless piece of trash like you should go back to the clan, you are not worthy to serve in the court."

"Tushan Huiii!!!!!!!.."

"Ok,ok,ok.., no arguing alright." Tushan Lin's soft and firm voice interrupted them .

Bai Shuo's fox pupils narrowed at the voluptuous beauty before her. "Tushan Hui right? She is already getting on my nerves." She exhaled lightly through her muzzle as if to calm down.

"Are you guys done?" A frosty voice rang out and everywhere went silent. Even the wordy Tushan Hui kept her mouth shut.

Tushan Fei continued with a cold expression. "I've already contacted the clan and we are told to wait for reinforcement before proceeding."

Bai Shuo clearly heard the sighs of relief from both Tushan Xin and Tushan Hui.

"Reinforcement?…What happened? How did I get injured? Where are we going to?" Bai Shuo couldn't hold herself back anymore.

The ladies gave her a blank look for a while before recalling about her "memory loss".

Tushan Fei didn't wait for the others to reply and directly said leaving no room for argument. "Your questions can wait later, Xin Xin can fill in your missing memories but for now, we look for a safe place to wait for reinforcement."

She wasn't amnesiac — she simply had no memories of Tushan Shuo's life. Pretending was safer than being labeled a soul-stealing demon.

Of course, Bai Shuo wouldn't say these out loud, she squinted at Tushan Fei and thought irritatedly. "That icy face is really annoying."

" Only my Mo Xuan's icy face is handsome and attractive."

Her eyes grew dazed as the thought came to her mind.

Mo Xuan.

She felt a sharp pain in her heart at the name.

Mo Xuan.

Hee…She can't believe that she could still think of him even dying after at his own hands.

He was the man she loved with every fiber in her being. The whole Human Realm knew of her devotion to him.

They might not have had a pleasant first encounter but she had really treated him with sincerity, pouring out her heart for him.

Yet, her current feelings for him were complicated.

Resentment?

She wanted to resent him but couldn't. Ultimately, she had ulterior motives for taking him in then but didn't expect to fall in love with him.

Anger?

Hatred?

Betrayal?

Disgust?

She wasn't exactly sure but she really didn't want to think of him now. She had fought many life and death battles but heaven made a joke at her to die at the hands of her cultivation partner.

She remembered the last conversation with him and muttered a name in am eerie calm voice.

"Bai Yu!"

Her fox lips curled slightly into a self mocking smile.

She was unsure of her feelings for Mo Xuan, however, she couldn't be mistaken of her feelings for her scheming sister- Bai Yu.

She was unreconciled and indignant.

She had always believed that all schemes were meaningless before overwhelming strength.

The entire Human Realm knew of her fiery temper. Even children knew the Fiery Goddess's favorite line to people she generally disliked:

Don't appear before me. Otherwise, every time I see you, I'll hit you.

Naturally, her enemies were a different case. She directly kills them.

Bai Yu had been one of her earliest victims, constantly suffering beneath her fists. Bai Shuo was well aware of her sister's petty tricks — she simply disdained such tactics.

In fact, she especially enjoyed the twisted look on Bai Yu's face whenever she dismantled her schemes with nothing but brute force.

Her own master was an old fox who adored manipulation and calculations. Though she had witnessed his monstrous strength, it never changed her contempt for roundabout methods.

If someone had told her she would one day die because of her sister's schemes, she would have beaten them until they vomited blood.

Yet… she truly had.

Fox Bai Shuo could almost imagine Bai Yu's smug laughter. Her blood boiled at the thought.

For the first time, she felt genuine killing intent.

No matter how malicious Bai Yu's past schemes had been, they had never stirred such thoughts in her heart — but this time was different.

Was Master right?

A little scheming here and there… doesn't hurt?

She didn't know.

But she knew one thing — she would never show mercy to her again.

"You say… Shuo'er, you really dared to snort at Sister Lin?"

Tushan Xin's amazed voice snapped her back to reality.

Bai Shuo raised a brow.

"Tsk." Tushan Xin continued cheerfully while stroking the little fox in her arms. "You've really grown bold after losing your memories."

Bai Shuo wanted to chop off the hand petting her like a spiritual beast, but her current injuries made even breathing a chore.

She twisted uncomfortably. "Why? Because I'm only at Foundation Establishment?"

Tushan Xin hesitated. "Well…" She paused. "Sister Lin and Sister Fei are the most talented in our clan. You've always respected them."

Bai Shuo's fox eyes narrowed.

That wasn't just respect.

It was deference.

Her vision swam slightly. The world blurred at the edges. She flicked her ears and asked weakly, "How are we going to find a cave like this?"

Tushan Xin was about to reply when—

Boom.

A beautiful firework exploded high in the distance.

Her face lit up. "That's Sister Lin's signal flare! She must've found a cave!"

She rushed toward the direction immediately.

"There's a cave here!"

Tushan Lin's ever-gentle voice was the last thing Bai Shuo heard before darkness swallowed her whole.
