[Third Person POV]
The next day passed relatively smoothly—except for the increasingly obvious closeness between Kaminari Denki and Yaoyorozu Momo.
They talked more frequently, sat together during lunch, walked side by side between classes, their body language comfortable and familiar in a way that made everyone notice.
Ashido Mina and Kirishima Eijiro exchanged knowing looks throughout the day, occasionally giving the pair teasing grins that made Momo blush and Denki smirk.
"They're totally dating now, right?" Ashido whispered to Kirishima during a break.
"Definitely," Kirishima confirmed with a manly grin. "Look at how comfortable they are! It's so manly how straightforward Denki is about it!"
"I know, right?!" Ashido bounced excitedly. "And Momo actually looks happy! Like, genuinely relaxed!"
Hagakure's uniform sleeves gestured wildly as she joined the conversation. "Did you see them holding hands in the hallway earlier? It was so cute I almost died!"
"THEY HELD HANDS?!" Ashido grabbed Hagakure's invisible shoulders. "Why didn't you tell me immediately?!"
"I'm telling you now!"
Jiro rolled her eyes but smiled. "You guys are way too invested in this."
"Says the girl who was literally spying on their date," Ashido shot back with a grin.
"That was—that was different! That was for... investigative purposes!"
"Sure it was," Hagakure giggled.
Most of the class seemed supportive—or at least amused—by this development. Except Mineta.
Mineta looked like he wanted to commit murder and his face twisted in a combination of jealousy and grudging respect.
His eyes followed Kaminari with a mixture of burning envy and grudging respect.
"How?!" he muttered to himself, gripping his desk until his knuckles turned white. "How did he do it?! What's his secret?! He's not even trying and girls just—just—"
Yet even in his jealous agony, there was a glimmer of respect—the grudging acknowledgment that Kaminari had somehow managed to win over someone as incredible as Yaoyorozu Momo in just a few days.
Sero and Sato had taken it upon themselves to console their suffering classmate, patting his shoulder with varying degrees of sympathy.
"It's okay, man," Sero said, though he was clearly trying not to laugh. "There are plenty of other—"
"Don't," Mineta interrupted in hollow tone. "Just... don't."
"There are other girls in the world," Sato added helpfully, offering him a piece of candy.
"NOT LIKE HER!" Mineta wailed dramatically, snatching the candy and stuffing it in his mouth. "She's perfect! Beautiful! Smart! Rich! And she has—"
"We know what she has," Sero cut him off quickly. "Trust me, we all know."
"And that bastard Kaminari just swoops in with his stupid smile and his stupid charm and his stupid hero speech skills—"
"You're really taking this hard, huh?" Sato observed.
"I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO SUFFER!"
"Maybe try being less creepy?" Jiro suggested flatly as she walked past.
"I'M NOT CREEPY!"
"You literally just said you wanted to 'observe' Yaoyorozu-san's hero costume from 'optimal angles.'"
"THAT'S FOR TACTICAL ANALYSIS!"
"Sure—but make sure Kaminari-kun doesn't hear that. If he does, you'll get hit by that Roar of the Lightning Dragon move he used during the USJ attack."
Mineta froze on the spot, like his soul had just evacuated his body.
Bakugo and Todoroki seemed completely indifferent to the developing relationship, though for different reasons.
Bakugo simply didn't care about anyone's love life that didn't involve him—which was to say, everyone's except Midoriya.
Across the classroom, Bakugo was pointedly ignoring the entire situation, his feet propped up on his desk as he glared at nothing in particular.
Kirishima approached cautiously. "Yo, Bakugo! You excited about the Sports Festival tomorrow?"
"Tch. Obviously," Bakugo grunted. "I'm gonna crush everyone and take first place."
"Even Denki?"
Bakugo's eye twitched slightly. "Especially Sparky. I don't care who he's dating or what flashy moves he pulled at USJ. I'm stronger."
"That's the spirit!" Kirishima grinned. "That manly competitive energy!"
"Shut up, Shitty Hair."
Todoroki was too focused on his internal struggle with his father and his determination to prove himself using only his ice to pay attention to teenage romance.
'He's strong,' Todoroki thought while watching as Denki laughed at something Momo said. 'Stronger than he showed during the entrance exam. The USJ incident proved that. But I need to defeat him to prove I don't need my father's power.'
Nearby, Midoriya was frantically scribbling in his hero analysis notebook, occasionally glancing up at Kaminari with an expression of intense focus.
"Whatcha writing, Deku-kun?" Uraraka asked, peeking over his shoulder.
"Oh! Uraraka-san!" Midoriya jumped slightly, nearly dropping his notebook. "I'm just... analyzing Kaminari-kun's potential strategies for the Sports Festival. Based on what we saw at USJ, his speed is his primary advantage, but he also demonstrated incredible power output with that final attack. If he can maintain that level of performance..."
"You're really thinking hard about this, huh?" Uraraka smiled gently.
"Well, the Sports Festival is important!" Midoriya's expression became determined. "It's our chance to show the Pro Heroes what we can do. I need to understand everyone's capabilities if I want to compete properly."
"You mean you want to beat Kaminari-kun specifically," Asui observed bluntly, hopping over to join them. "Ribbit."
Midoriya flushed. "I—that's not—I mean, yes, but not just him! Everyone! I want to do my best against everyone!"
"It's okay to have a rival, Midoriya-kun," Iida said while appearing suddenly. "Healthy competition drives us to improve! However, we must ensure our competitive spirit remains sportsmanlike and appropriate!"
"Thanks, Iida-kun..."
He recalled the conversation he'd overheard during their date—Kaminari's declaration that he would become the Number One Hero and surpass All Might.
'I need to give my absolute best in the upcoming Sports Festival,' Izuku thought and clenching his fist under his desk. 'I need to show that I can stand beside him as an equal.'
Across the room, Momo was surrounded by her own group of friends.
"So," Jiro said with a knowing smirk, "you and Kaminari, huh?"
Momo's face immediately flushed pink. "I—we're just—it's not—"
"You're totally dating," Hagakure said definitively. "We saw you guys! The hand-holding, smiling at eachother and also the way he looks at you!"
"And the way you look at him," Ashido added with a grin. "You're completely smitten, Momo!"
"I am not 'smitten,'" Momo protested, though her blush deepened. "We simply... enjoy each other's company."
"Uh-huh. Sure," Jiro teased. "That's why you can't stop smiling whenever he's around."
"I don't—do I really smile that much?"
"YES!" all three girls answered in unison.
Momo covered her face with her hands, mortified. "This is so embarrassing..."
But there was one person whose reaction was more complicated.
Emma Akane—actually Toga Himiko in disguise—had been watching Kaminari and Yaoyorozu all day with narrowed eyes.
She participated in class activities, chatted pleasantly with Uraraka and Midoriya, maintained her "good girl" persona perfectly.
But whenever she had a free moment, her gaze would drift to the pair and her expression becoming intense and unreadable.
Kaminari noticed, of course. His electrical sense made it impossible not to.
'I need to talk to her,' he thought while watching Toga out of the corner of his eye. 'She needs to understand that while I care about her wellbeing, I can't return her romantic feelings. Not the way I feel about Momo.'
Still, he had to admit Toga was adapting well. She'd become genuinely friendly with Uraraka and Midoriya, which was a positive sign.
'Progress,' he decided. 'We'll deal with the complicated feelings later.'
...
[The Rooftop]
After Classes ended, Yaoyorozu Momo stood on the UA rooftop, the evening sun casting long shadows across the concrete as she waited.
Emma Akane had asked to meet her here privately—a request that had seemed innocent enough, though Momo's instincts told her this conversation would be anything but simple.
The door opened, and Emma stepped through having an unreadable expression.
"Emma-san, you wanted to talk?" Momo called out.
Then, without warning, her body began to shift.
The gray clay-like substance melted away, revealing blonde hair, golden eyes, and a manic grin that Momo now recognized.
Toga Himiko in her true form.
"Surprise!" Toga said cheerfully, spreading her arms. "Though you don't look surprised, Momo-chan."
"Nope,Toga-san," Momo said calmly, not showing surprise.
Toga's grin widened, "Denki-kun told you about me, didn't he?"
"He explained the situation, yes." Momo kept her voice steady, "He told me about your Quirk and your... unique way of expressing affection."
"Of course he did," Toga giggled before walking closer. "Denki-kun tells you everything, doesn't he? Because you're special to him."
There was an edge to her voice—not quite threatening, but definitely intense.
"Toga-san—"
"I saw your date," Toga interrupted and her smile began to widen. "Yesterday. I followed you both all day. Watched you laugh together, hold hands, talk about your dreams..." Her expression became almost wistful. "I saw how happy he was. How happy you made him."
She followed Denki and Momo's date separately, choosing not to join the rest of the classmates in their obvious spying. If she had, it would've been no different from stalking. Instead, she kept her distance—simply observing and not intruding or commenting thier date, she is getting there to observe only.
She also didn't feel the need to tell Momo that a few of their classmates had witnessed her first date with Denki.
Momo's eyes widened. "You were... stalking us?"
"I prefer 'observing,'" Toga corrected cheerfully. "And before you get mad, I didn't interrupt you! I just wanted to understand."
She stepped closer until she was directly in front of Momo, studying her with unnerving intensity.
"I needed to know what makes you so special. How you can make Denki smile like that. What he sees in you that's so..." She paused, searching for the word. "...captivating."
Momo wasn't sure whether to be worried about being stalked or to feel pity for this clearly troubled girl who had feelings for someone who didn't return them.
During their date, Denki had been very clear: he cared about Toga as a friend, maybe even as someone he felt protective of, but he didn't have romantic feelings for her. It was friendly concern but nothing more.
"Toga-san," Momo said carefully, "I appreciate your honesty, but—"
"I'm not here to threaten you," Toga interrupted, her smile becoming gentler. "If anything, I'm happy."
"Happy?"
"To share," Toga clarified. "I don't mind sharing my love. But..." Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Before I fully accept you being with Denki, I need to understand you better. I need to know what he sees in you."
Momo smiled nervously. "I'm... not sure how to take that."
"Then let me make it easier," Toga said, her expression becoming sincere. "Let's become friends, Momo-chan. Real friends. That way, I can understand you, and maybe you can understand me too."
Momo studied the girl before her—the loneliness hidden behind the manic energy, the desperate need for acceptance, the genuine care for Denki despite the complications.
Momo took a breath and decided on honesty. "I thought you were going to threaten me because I like Kaminari-kun."
She then smiled nervously. "I'm... not sure how to take that. But I'm glad you're not hostile toward me, Toga-san."
Then Momo did something that surprised even herself. She extended her hand, palm up, with a gentle and understanding expression.
"Would you like some blood?" she asked softly. "Kaminari-kun explained your perspective on showing affection. If you want to know about me, perhaps it's best if we do it your way."
Toga froze completely while her eyes going wide with shock.
Then, slowly, her manic grin softened into something more genuine—something vulnerable and touched.
"I can understand a little better why Denki-kun likes you," she said quietly before pulling out a small knife from behind.
She made a quick, precise cut on Momo's extended arm—shallow enough to be safe, deep enough to draw blood.
Momo tried to maintain her smile as Toga leaned in and began drinking, though her expression flickered with discomfort.
After a few moments, Toga pulled back, licking her lips with satisfaction.
"Thank you," she said sincerely. "That means... a lot."
They talked for nearly an hour after that—about what they both appreciated about Kaminari, about their different backgrounds, about their hopes and fears.
By the time they left the rooftop together, they weren't quite friends yet, but something resembling understanding had formed between them.
Meanwhile, hidden behind the rooftop entrance, Kaminari Denki leaned against the wall with his back pressed to the concrete, sighing heavily.
He'd sensed Toga asking Momo for a private conversation and decided to observe from a distance—ready to intervene if things went wrong, but hoping they wouldn't.
'Teenage girls are incredibly difficult to understand,' he thought wearily. 'This is one of the main reasons I never tried dating girls my physical age before.'
But now he had a girl obsessed with blood—which was her genuine way of showing love—who had a crush on him, trying to understand the girl he was actually interested in.
He looked up at the sky through the gap in the door, watching clouds drift lazily overhead. 'How troublesome.'
He decided to continue observing the situation carefully and dump any complicated problems onto Future Denki's shoulders.
'That guy can deal with it. Present Denki has a Sports Festival to prepare for.'
He pushed off the wall and headed toward the exit. He had to meet Edna for specialized training, and Eijiro and Mina were also coming to prepare for the festival. 'Time to get serious.'
...
[One Week Later]
[Denki's POV]
And just like that, another week passed in a blur of training, classes, and preparation.
The UA Sports Festival had arrived.
During this time, Eri was now officially my adopted little sister—the paperwork had been finalized days ago. She was coming to watch the festival with our parents, and the thought of her cheering for me made something warm bloom in my chest.
'I have to make her proud. Show her what her Onii-chan can do.'
My thoughts drifted briefly to Toga, who wasn't participating in the festival because of her real identity situation. She was currently on "sick leave" while Principal Nezu worked on clearing her name officially.
Many of my classmates were worried about "Emma's" sudden illness—especially Uraraka and Midoriya, who'd become genuinely close with her.
But most people were too excited about the upcoming event to dwell on it for long.
"Damn! I'm so nervous and excited at the same time!" Eijiro shouted with a huge grin plastered across his face despite the clear anxiety in his eyes.
I stood right beside him in the waiting room, watching as students from Class 1-A prepared themselves mentally for what was coming.
A lot of them wore similar expressions—excitement mixed with nerves and determination mixed with fear.
'To be honest, I'm slightly nervous too,' I admitted internally. 'Which is weird. I wasn't nervous fighting actual villains and a bioweapon designed to kill All Might. But a Sports Festival? Stage fright is real, apparently.'
"Yeah, and the waiting is even worse!" Mina agreed while bouncing on her heels anxiously.
Several other students nodded in agreement.
Everyone wore their standard UA gym uniforms—hero costumes weren't allowed for the Sports Festival to keep things fair.
The fact that this would be aired live on national television definitely increased the pressure.
Millions of people watching and Pro Heroes scouting for potential recruits. Our entire futures potentially decided by our performance today.
'No pressure at all for them,' I thought sarcastically.
"Is everyone ready?!" I called out, using my role as class president to rally everyone. "We'll be entering soon!"
"Yeah! I'm so pumped!" Hagakure's uniform jumped around excitedly, presumably with her inside it.
That's when Todoroki made his move. He walked directly up to Midoriya with that intense, brooding expression he always wore.
"Midoriya," he said in a cold and formal tone. "I won't pry into your situation with All Might. But know this, I am going to beat you today."
Midoriya froze while his mouth opening and closing without sound.
'Did that idiot tell Todoroki about One For All too?' I wondered. 'Or did Todoroki figure it out himself? Either way, this is getting messy.'
"Hey! Are you trying to pick a fight, Todo—" Eijiro started while stepping forward protectively.
"I'm not finished yet," Todoroki interrupted, turning his heterochromatic gaze toward me.
'Here we go.'
"Kaminari Denki," he said and his voice is being carrying across the waiting room. "Despite taking out multiple villains in an instant and destroying part of the USJ facility with a single attack, I will show you that my ice is still superior to your electricity." His eyes burned with competitive fire. "Currently, you are my biggest obstacle here. So I will defeat you to prove myself."
The room went completely silent.
I met his gaze calmly, channeling my best confident-but-not-arrogant energy.
"Yeah, sure," I said with an easy shrug. "But if you want to beat me, it's gonna be really hard for you, Todoroki."
Not my best comeback, admittedly, but it was honest.
Todoroki's eyes seemed to literally burn with intensity. His fists clenched, his jaw tightened, and for a few seconds he just glared at me with pure competitive determination. Then he turned and walked away without another word.
The room erupted into whispered conversations about Quirk matchups, power levels, and predicted outcomes.
I glanced over at Momo, who was chatting with Jiro and Hagakure but caught my eye and smiled reassuringly.
That was enough.
Soon the announcement echoed through the waiting area, and we all started moving toward the stadium entrance.
"My heart is beating so fast!" Mina exclaimed as we walked.
"Yeah, my hands won't stop shaking," Tsuyu added with a hint of nervousness.
"There's no need to be nervous!" Uraraka said, trying to encourage everyone. "We'll do just fine!"
"Uraraka-san, you're shaking too," Momo pointed out gently.
"I-I know!"
We emerged from the tunnel into blinding sunlight and deafening noise.
The stadium was absolutely packed—thousands upon thousands of spectators filling every available seat, Pro Heroes scattered throughout the VIP sections, cameras everywhere capturing every angle.
The roar of the crowd hit like a physical wave.
...
[Within the Crowd - VIP Section]
Kaminari Kenji and Kaminari Narihana were seated in the VIP section, along with their newly adopted daughter Eri and Megumi with her boyfriend Aki.
"Look! Look! Our son looks so cool!" Narihana said excitedly, practically vibrating in her seat as she poked her husband repeatedly.
"Yes, as I've said before, he's made us incredibly proud," Kenji agreed, pulling Eri onto his lap so she could see better.
"I'm going to cheer really loud for Denki-onii-chan!" Eri announced seriously while her small hands clutching a homemade banner that read "GO DENKI!" in wobbly letters.
During the past week, she'd grown genuinely attached to her new family, especially her older brother. She knew this was an important event for him and was determined to support him with everything she had.
"Kayy, too cute, Eri-chan!" Megumi cooed, then raised her binoculars to scan the field. "Let me find him... aha!"
She spotted Kaminari and Momo walking together, their body language comfortable and familiar.
A knowing smirk spread across her face. 'Found you with your date, Denki-kun~'
Aki, sitting beside her, thought nervously, 'It seems Denki is going to plot another revenge scheme against Megumi-chan if he finds out she filmed him while he was preparing for his date last week. I should definitely keep my distance from their revenge plots.'
Kenji and Narihana both wore expressions of immense pride.
Their son had already made them proud countless times, but they still wanted him to achieve first place today.
'Knowing him,' Kenji thought warmly, 'he'll definitely get it.'
...
[Denki's POV - On the Field]
As we walked to where the other UA first-years were gathered, I could hear excited and nervous whispers all around.
I was slightly distracted, still processing the sheer scale of this event, but I caught fragments of conversation.
"—Class 1-A really—"
"—that's the kid who fought those villains—"
"—think he'll win—"
I looked at Momo and said quietly, "Good luck. Be careful out there.
She nodded with determined but calm look. "I hope to see you in the finals then."
We both kept nonchalant looks as we said it, though I could sense her elevated heart rate through her bioelectrical signature.
'She's nervous but hiding it well. That's my girl.'
"We must give our best performance to impress everyone!" Iida declared.
"Wow! Look at all these people!" Hagakure exclaimed.
Several students nodded in agreement, looking overwhelmed.
"This is definitely intense," I agreed, trying to locate my family in the crowd.
I knew they were here somewhere, but finding specific people among thousands of spectators—even in the VIP section—was nearly impossible with normal vision.
'My electrical sense doesn't work that well at this distance either with too many overlapping signatures.'
Midoriya looked around nervously as the crowd's cheers washed over us.
Present Mic's voice suddenly boomed across the stadium, introducing Class 1-B and the other departments participating.
The crowd roared with each introduction.
Then came the moment I'd been dreading and anticipating in equal measure.
CRACK!
A whip snapped through the air, and Midnight stepped onto the stage in her... extremely revealing hero costume.
'Yep. That's definitely 18+ rated,' I thought while keeping my expression neutral. 'She really does embody the R-Rated Hero aesthetic,' I thought appreciatively but professionally. 'but I have to respect the craft.'
Most of the male students—and quite a few female ones—started whispering about her outfit.
The men in the crowd went absolutely wild with cheers.
"Now, now, play fair~" Midnight purred, cracking her whip again.
The effect was immediate—the crowd settled down, hanging on her every word.
'The power of a dominatrix Pro Hero,' I observed with amusement.
"Everyone be quiet!" Midnight commanded. "Representing the students is Kaminari Denki from Class 1-A!"
She cracked her whip one more time for emphasis.
The crowd immediately went silent and all eyes turning toward me.
'Alright, let's do this.'
I walked forward calmly, mostly affected by Midnight's... assets, but didn't show it out unlike many of the hormonal teenagers around me.
I stopped in front of Midnight, turned to face my fellow students and the massive crowd beyond, and took a breath.
I'd practiced this speech dozens of times over the past week, refining it until it felt perfect and it was time to deliver it.
"Good morning, everyone," I began in a calm tone and my voice is carried across the stadium through the microphone system.
"I'm Denki Kaminari, from Class 1-A. And standing here today... honestly, it's kind of unreal."
I paused, letting the moment settle. "When we entered UA, a lot of us thought being a hero meant being strong or fast and flashy." I gestured to encompass everyone around me. "But after training, classes, and facing real danger, we learned something important—strength alone isn't what makes a hero."
The stadium had gone completely silent with everyone listening.
"A hero is someone who stands up even when they're scared. Someone who keeps moving forward, even when they mess up. Someone who protects others before thinking about themselves."
I made eye contact with my classmates—Midoriya, Eijiro, Mina, Momo and all of them.
"Every first-year here has struggled. We've failed tests. Lost control of our Quirks. Hit limits we didn't even know we had." I smiled slightly. "But none of that means we're weak. It means we're growing."
Murmurs of agreement rippled through the first-year students.
"This Sports Festival isn't just a competition," I continued with my voice growing stronger. "It's a chance to show our resolve. To show that we're willing to take responsibility for our power—and for the people who will one day depend on us."
I turned specifically toward my fellow first-years.
"To my fellow students, don't compare yourself to others. Don't let fear decide your worth. Fight in your own way, with your own strength, and with your heart in the right place."
Then I addressed the entire stadium—the Pro Heroes, the scouts, the millions watching on television.
"Everyone watching today—heroes, students, Pros, and the entire nation—we are the first-years, and this is our first step into the world of heroes."
My voice carried absolute conviction now. "We stand on the same ground where legends once proved themselves. Where dreams were tested, crushed, rebuilt, and sharpened into something unstoppable." I raised my fist. "Today, it's our turn."
The energy in the stadium was building and I could feel it.
"Some of us were born strong. Some of us had to fight for every inch of power we have. Some of us are still figuring out what kind of heroes we want to be." I paused. "But make no mistake—we all came here with the same resolve."
"This festival isn't just about winning. It's about showing the world our courage, our growth, and our refusal to back down."
I made sure my voice reached every corner of that stadium. "Don't doubt yourself. Fight with everything you have—not for glory or for applause—but for the future hero you want to become."
"Everyone, please remember this, We may still be students... but we're already learning what it means to protect, to endure, and to never give up."
My expression became fierce and determined. "We're not perfect. But we promise this—we'll keep trying to become heroes worthy of your trust."
I turned back to my fellow first-years one final time. "This is our time. Let's reassure the previous generation that they don't need to worry about the future."
I grinned, letting absolute confidence radiate from every fiber of my being. "UA First-Years... let's give it everything we've got!"
I raised my right fist high. "Let's go... PLUS ULTRA today!"
The stadium erupted. "WOOOOOAAAAHHHHHH!"
The roar was deafening—thousands of people on their feet, cheering, screaming, applauding.
Even the other students who were supposed to be my competitors were clapping and cheering.
And more importantly, even with the noise roaring around us, my ears caught someone saying, "That's my boy."
I just smiled and didn't need to look to know who that voice belonged to. Feeling the energy wash over me, I slowly walked back to my position and my classmates were going absolutely wild.
"Kaminari-kun..." Midoriya looked like he might cry from sheer emotional overwhelm.
Even Bakugo looked grudgingly impressed, though he'd never admit it.
"Denki, that was incredible!" Mina shouted.
Eijiro immediately fist-bumped me when I reached the group. "Dude! DUDE! That was incredible!"
Momo asked me more quietly, "Kaminari-kun... tell me honestly. Did you practice that speech?"
I gave her my most charming smile. "Every single day this week before going to bed."
She laughed, the sound musical and genuine. "I thought so. It was perfect."
"Now, let's get started right away!" Midnight's voice cut through the noise, refocusing everyone's attention.
She explained the first event, an obstacle race course around the stadium.
I remembered it from the anime, but I listened to Midnight's explanation anyway. 'I'm a good student, after all.'
A massive screen lit up behind her, revealing the first challenge.
"The first task will be an OBSTACLE RACE!" Midnight announced. "The course is four kilometers around the stadium! As long as you stay on the course, it doesn't matter what you do—anything goes! Take your places, everyone!"
We all gathered at the red starting gate, which had three green lights mounted on top.
I turned toward Momo one last time. "Good luck."
She smiled back. "You too."
Yellow electricity began crackling in my eyes as I activated Raijin Drive at low power and slowly yellow aura and electricity began crackling across by body.
The world sharpened, time seeming to slow slightly as my perception accelerated.
"Three... two... one... START!" Midnight's voice rang out.
And immediately I activated Raijin Drive at full power.
FWOOSH!
Before anyone could even process the starting signal, I was gone.
A bright yellow flash of lightning streaked across the starting line, leaving shocked students frozen in my wake.
Not even five seconds later, Present Mic's voice exploded across the stadium speakers.
"W-WHAT?! NO WAY!!"
He turned to Aizawa, who was sitting beside him. "What the hell just happened?!"
"Announce it," Aizawa said flatly, not even opening his eyes. "That's your job. Let me take a quiet nap."
Present Mic stared at the monitoring screens in disbelief, then grabbed his microphone. "WINNER OF THE FIRST ROUND IS KAMINARI DENKI FROM CLASS 1-A!!"
The stadium erupted into chaos—half the crowd cheering wildly, the other half demanding replays to see what had actually happened.
Meanwhile, I stood calmly at the finish line, not even out of breath with electricity still crackling faintly around me.
I looked back at the starting gate—where my classmates were still frozen in shock—and grinned. 'Sorry, everyone—but today is the day lightning shines the brightest.'
