Chapter 41 - Being Human -> News about Frank's Disappearance.

By the time Maru arrived at his castle he wasn't able to attend to any of his duties nor receive any reports from his loyal officials because traversing the deadly roads that provided a path to the underground system leading to the dungeon the elders stayed was littered with different slumbering monsters that shouldn't belong to the world of life, he moved around at super sonic speed causing him to be in a state of immense mental and soul fatigue.

He gradually became mad after planning traps, waiting and setting alarms that he used to plan properly until the last second to escape harrowing beasts and foes, planning routes and making assumptions on a whim when a path was blocked by an especially gruesome monster.

He had been doing this for the better part of 8 days and was only able to recover his mental health for a few moments by planning to rest for short periods of time before he planned to attack, run, trap and take notes of less dangerous paths in the underground system that lead to the dungeon the elders of the citizens were residing.

So when he arrived at his castle he ordered his officials not to disturb him as he walked over to the bed that was laying in the throne room which contained, light blue pillows, white sheets, a pair of new hinges laid at the side of the bed while the bed was well laid and the rotting wood which was the structure holding the bed before was replaced with a new one formed from a variant of the oak tree which existed in the world of New Darkovia and was polished to become a deep brown colour, adorned with beautiful motifs carved into the wood.

Maru approached the bed he was about to sleep on without even admiring the beauty and lied on the bed with the tattered garment he wore.

The tattered garment had once been a garment fit for a prince, one which was almost compared to a skin suit but after he used it to move to and from the underground system and also wearing it to fight harrowing creatures that he had met at land.

The beautiful black skin suit had changed into one filled holes, grime, patches and the structure of the garment had changed from a plain style that was uniform to one that was crooked and unnerving displaying a few pieces of cloth that had refused to burn into unsightly holes and was patched by Maru together to keep them from falling off.

The tattered garment was then held together in the waist by a robe belt made from the same material his torn skin suit was made from and a piece of animal hide.

Maru slept for the better part of the day completely unaware of what was going on, he could be likened to a dead man placed in a coffin only that Maru wasn't technically dead and was not also alive and he wasn't laying in a coffin but a beautiful bed which white sheets that was gradually getting stained by the dirt contained in the tattered garment of Maru.

Maru slept for what could be perceived as a day in New Darkovia and two days on earth by the time he woke up his officials were visibly surprised when they saw him, after receiving strange glances from a number of his officials he asked:

[Is there something on my face]

The official unable to talk for a few moments shook his head to signal the word "No". Unsatisfied of his answer Maru pressed on and asked:

[Then why is everyone looking at me strangely.]

[Did anything bad happen while I was away.]

The official still frozen in the moment shaked his head saying "No".

Maru left the frozen official and headed outside the castle to the Servant's camp in order to watch was going on. In truth there was nothing interesting about cleaning the servants camp without a cleaning aid but he still came to watch.

It was because of this he was able to spot Frank's absence prompting him to say:

[What the hell.]

[Where is he?]

Maru felt like leaving the lofty part of the dome in which he was spying on the servants and descend down into the servants camp down there to ask his officials what was going on but he didn't need to because the person who he had left to be in charge of his castle had arrived.

Sebastian had only come there to give a report concerning the troops of skeleton knight and lich, Maru had sent earlier to intercept the cohort formed by Diego that wanted to restore the motherland - Darkovia, so Sebastian relayed the message to Maru who was half deaf to what he was saying.

When he finally completed his report, Maru asked only one question:

[Where is Frank?]

Feeling a little grim but finding a way to hide his emotion, Sebastian said:

[That mysterious fool is probably skipping chores or he probably overslept. I would personally walk over to his room to wake him up and also bring him out into the open.]

Maru's expression betrayed the motion the he understood Sebastian excuse for Frank not engaging in the work assigned to him.

He had almost let the matter go when he said abruptly:

[Then bring him out of the room.]

Sebastian complied, he turned back the way he came, drifting down the steps while opening the gate that lied between the camp and the castle, he then walked directly into Frank's room.

Frank's room was arranged neatly, a well laid slightly soft bed and nothing else of standard, the signature hole in the ground that was common in all the servants room was not in any part of the floor in his room, the floor remained the same while the walls remained the same, devoid of life or any semblance of movement.

Knowing what this meant he drifted out of the room without anyone behind him or him holding anyone, his face devoid of emotion and his movement light and slow, before he approached the top of the dome where Maru was to relay the message subtly, Maru had already conveyed what was going on

- Frank was gone.
