Chapter 7 - Clash of titans

The core chamber shook as Kael and the shadow figure collided. Each strike sent shockwaves through the hall, splintering stone and lighting up the room with bursts of energy. Lyra hovered to the side, chanting spells that reinforced Kael's attacks.

"Focus on its core!" the System advised.

Kael dodged a swipe from the massive claws, rolling to the side, and slammed Shadow Strike into the creature's chest. Sparks erupted, but the shadow barely flinched. Its laughter echoed, a sound that made the floor tremble beneath Kael's feet.

"You think you can win?" it growled. "This is only the beginning."

Kael gritted his teeth. Then let's begin the real fight. He drew deeper into his power, feeling the System pushing him forward. Shadow Strike evolved mid-combat, forming twin blades of darkness. Every movement he made was faster, more precise.

Lyra's hands glowed brighter as she created a protective circle around him. She's more than a support… Kael realized. The synergy between them allowed them to anticipate the enemy's moves.

The shadow roared again and struck with a wave of energy. Kael barely managed to deflect it, sliding across the floor as stone shards rained down. Sparks flew from his blade with every impact.

Then, suddenly, the shadow split into three forms. Each one faster than before, attacking from different directions. Kael's mind raced. Multi-target combat… perfect for leveling up.

With a smirk, he whispered, "Let's see what you've got." Shadow Strike extended into a whirling spiral, cutting through the first clone. He pivoted, striking the second, and launched himself at the third midair. The System flashed:

"Combo Mastery Achieved: Power +25%."

The battle ended with the remaining shadow dissolving into black mist, leaving the core chamber intact but shaking. Kael collapsed onto one knee, breathing heavily, adrenaline pumping through every vein.

Lyra approached, placing a hand on his shoulder. "That was incredible… Kael."

Kael looked at her, eyes glowing faintly. "We're just getting started."
