The city of Aurora never truly slept.
Even after the sun dipped beneath the western horizon, life continued beneath thousands of softly glowing mana lamps that lined the streets. Taverns filled with laughter, musicians entertained weary travelers, and merchants worked tirelessly beneath enchanted lanterns that burned without fuel.
The capital looked peaceful, safe, and normal, exactly how someone wanted it to look.
Far above the bustling streets, a lone figure watched from the roof of a cathedral. Her crimson eyes reflected the sea of lights below. Long white hair danced gently in the evening breeze while two rabbit ears twitched atop her head.
A smooth black mask concealed everything beneath her eyes, and only those unsettling crimson irises remained visible.
Beside her, an enormous black wolf sat silently. Standing over eight feet tall at the shoulder, the beast's blood-red eyes scanned the city without blinking.
