Morning arrived without ceremony. There was no trumpet, no bell, and no mystical sunrise speech about destiny.
Just weight.
Something warm, soft, and annoyingly fluffy was pressed squarely against Bahamut's face, whiskers twitching faintly with each tiny breath, cutting off half his breathing. His brows twitched first, then his fingers moved, before his instinct kicked in.
He inhaled sharply and stopped.
"This is not death," he muttered.
He lifted one hand and felt it.
Long ears... One of them flopped directly over his eyes like a fuzzy blindfold upgrade he did not request.
"Ren..."
The bunny was sprawled across him like a victorious creature that had claimed territory in the night. His small body was curled comfortably against his face, his nose twitching once every second, tail puffed up, as his ears drooped lazily as he slept with absolute trust.
