The moment Lionel took a step, he felt a difference from his usual self; his stride length was the same every time, and his pace hadn't changed, but his speed was getting faster and faster, as if he had detached from the World and was moving in another dimension.
When Lionel finished experiencing this strange sensation and came back to his senses, he had already arrived at the left side of the target car, moving at the same speed, neck and neck.
"On your left."
Lionel felt that saying this at such a moment was perfect. After greeting, Lionel's speed increased again, instantly surpassing the car.
The car owner, hearing the greeting, subconsciously turned his head to the left and returned a greeting, then froze, looking at the dashboard: 30 miles per hour, what the hell? The car owner turned his head again, and Lionel was already gone. He rubbed his eyes, but there was nothing unusual.
"This is absolutely insane!"
Lionel continuously changed how he overtook target vehicles along the way, needing only one or two seconds to surpass each target. He also discovered that this effect existed regardless of his method of movement, so he had already switched from unconsciously running to strolling, only the speed of his stroll was incredibly fast.
Moreover, when using the "On Your Left" Entry, Lionel did not feel any physical exertion, as if his legs were moving but not doing any work, thus consuming no energy. Yet, he was indeed moving forward, which was quite miraculous.
Rapidly passing one target vehicle after another, Lionel moved forward as if operating a game screen, simply too exhilarating to stop.
"It seems we've arrived."
Lionel, engrossed in his journey, suddenly stopped and took off his glasses. He should have reached the location given by the Old Priest. This area was on the outskirts of Bronx, with extensive greenery, and most houses were detached two-story residences.
"The Campbell house, it's over there."
Lionel dialed the Old Priest's number, confirmed the location, and continued walking.
On the other side, the Old Priest hung up the phone and looked at the time on his mobile phone with some confusion. It had been less than 10 minutes since he asked Lionel for help, and he had arrived so quickly. He knew Lionel's apartment was in Manhattan, and it would take at least half an hour to get to Bronx, and if the road conditions were a bit worse, it might even take more than an hour.
The Old Priest held a pile of ashes, his face full of confusion, beside him a middle-aged woman and a pale young man whose exposed skin was covered in scars.
The weak young man asked, "Father, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, the powerful exorcist I told you about is coming. The problem will be solved very soon."
"That's wonderful!" The young man forced a smile.
The young man's name was Matt Campbell, and the woman beside him was his mother. Now, he was so weak that a gust of wind could seemingly blow him over. This was unavoidable; he had been diagnosed with cancer and needed regular special treatment at the hospital. Because of this, his family sold their original house and moved to an inexpensive house in Bronx, closer to the hospital for his convenience, but this also led to many strange and terrifying incidents.
"Hi, Old Priest!" Lionel hurried over.
"Lionel, you're so fast, it hasn't even been ten minutes!" The Old Priest chuckled.
Lionel casually gave an excuse, "Oh, I happened to be handling a commission nearby. I received your request and came directly. But Father, why are you in Bronx? There should be churches here too, right?"
"That's how it is. I'm old, and old people get sick easily. I met Matt, who was receiving treatment at the hospital. He told me about the strange events he encountered, so I came to take a look, and it turned out things were a bit beyond my expectation."
The Old Priest held up the ashes in his hand, gesturing to Lionel.
Looking at the ashes in the Old Priest's hand, Lionel asked curiously, "What is this?"
"The ashes of a medium. The medium's soul is right next to me. Can you see him? If so, it would be better for him to explain it to you personally."
"The medium's soul?"
Lionel felt it was magical. He scanned around the Old Priest but didn't see the soul he mentioned. However, after the Old Priest's reminder, Lionel, through the constantly circulating chi within him, could indeed vaguely sense another strange aura around them, besides the three people.
Is that the medium?
Lionel closed his eyes, then quickly opened them. The iconic rainbow pupils of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception appeared in his eyes, and he looked again at the location of the strange aura.
A young man in a black suit appeared before his eyes. The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, in addition to granting Lionel the ability to see the lines of death in all things, also gave Lionel a special perspective. From this special perspective, Lionel could see many things that are normally invisible, including ghosts.
The suited ghost joyfully said, "You can see me, that's wonderful!"
Lionel was very curious; it was his first time speaking with a ghost that possessed normal intelligence: "Are you the medium the Old Priest mentioned?"
"Yes, just call me Jonah," the suited ghost, or more accurately, Jonah, introduced himself.
Seeing the young exorcist suddenly talking to thin air, the middle-aged mother beside him covered her mouth in surprise.
The weak Matt held his mother's hand and explained:
"Mr. Exorcist is communicating with the ghost in the house. It's nothing."
Matt could also see the soul beside them, because to see ghosts and other ominous entities, one either possesses strange abilities, like a medium, or one must be very weak physically, with insufficient life force.
Because Matt suffered from cancer, he had been seeing various strange events after moving into the inexpensive house bought for convenient treatment. This was not Matt's hallucination or the ghosts in the house specifically choosing to scare him, but rather only he, a patient weakened by cancer, could see them.
"Father said you had something to tell me. What is it?" Lionel asked.
The ghost Jonah turned and pointed to the house behind him:
"Inside there are hundreds of wailing vengeful spirits. They have been trapped in that house for decades, their souls unable to find release, gradually turning into mad evil spirits, disturbing the people who move into that house.
About thirty years ago, my companions and I heard that this place was severely haunted, so we decided to perform a seance in this house to find out what was going on and how to solve it. But we underestimated the ferocity of the evil spirits here. The moment my seance ended, the evil spirits collectively rioted, and Fire began to burn inside the house. All exits of the house were blocked, and all exorcists, including me, died in that incident.
Perhaps it was because I was skilled in spiritualism in life, and my soul power was very strong, or for some other reason, my soul was able to remain in that house. For these thirty years, I have been trying to purify those evil spirits, but it has been useless, and in fact, those evil spirits have become even more dangerous.
Now that my ashes have been taken out of the house by the priest, having lost my suppression, ordinary people can no longer enter the house. Otherwise, they wouldn't even need to sit on the sofa; the evil spirits inside would tear the entrant to shreds."
