Chapter 4 - After everything

The media rushed to the HQ of the Blue Fire Legion, and from there walked out the chairman and team. The moment he appeared, the reporters surrounded him, bombarding him.

"Did you even retrieve the body of the young slayer, Gu Weiyi!!?", asked a reporter.

"Um...his body can't be discovered as there have been no sightings for over 3 days," he replied.

"This is the 5th time a slayer has been killed from your legion. Are you planning any future actions to protect the slayers?," asked a female reporter.

"Yes, we are planning something!!", annoyingly repliedthe chairman.

He quickly walked into his car and ordered the driver to head towards the SSU office.

The driver hit the accelerator, and the car moved. In the cushioned seat sat the chairman, enjoying the view outside while sipping champagne from his glass.

"Seon, according to you, what gives weeds the right to live among the crops?", asked the chairman.

The driver was silent, and then he looked up into the blue sky. He then turned back and replied...

"Sir, who even gave you the right to think that?", asked the driver.

"What do you imply?", asked the chairman.

"In this world, no one decides what weeds are and what are crops...the very crops you sow might one day turn into weeds," said the driver.

"So you know everything?", asked the chairman.

"Yes, I knew that Weiyi's death was a result of your intentions," replied the driver.

"What made you conclude it?," asked the chairman.

"Schweister," answered the driver.

"..."

"The device that protects the slayers at all costs, sustaining their heartbeat and increasing their chances of survival through artificial means," told the driver.

"Your conclusion is on point," answered the chairman.

KUSEN PRIVATE HOSPITAL, CHEJU

The snow covered the whole of Cheju Island, freezing the waters and painting the scenery white.

In front of the hospital, a frozen body was being taken out of the ambulance. The doctors rushed to the operating theatre.

"What is the name of the patient!!?," asked a doctor.

"His name is...Kang Sae, a slayer," replied the nurse.

In the file, his name was mentioned, and a report was made on his condition. The report cited 'coma'.

Another nurse walked to the ward, carrying medicines and water, and some extra clothes. As she entered the ward, she headed to the first bed. Grabbing the medicine in which the name "Tae Li" was mentioned. She kept it beside the bed.

"Please take your medicine, Miss Tae Li," said the nurse.

She looked at Tae Li's pale face. Dark circles under her eyes gave her the appearance of someone who had lost their mind. Her dried lips made it worse, and her cold eyes struck the nail in the coffin.

"..."

Tae Li was looking outside, into that snow-covered ground. She had no more tears in her eyes to cry. Just that dead look, a look that resembled a withered flower. This saddened the nurse.

The nurse sat on the bed, calling her name. But it never reached her. Again, she called, and then she shouted.

"Ms.Tae Li!!"

Her eyes turned towards the nurse, and then she gave a slight smile. But soon that disappeared.

"You loved him, right?", asked the nurse.

"..."

Again, Tae Li was silent.

"Answer me!! Tae!!", she shouted again.

Tae nodded and then looked at her. The nurse patted her head and hugged Tae.

"Sorry that you had to go through this... cherish those memories forever, but it's time to move on," said the nurse.

"..."

Again, Tae was silent, her eyes downcast. But then her lips moved, and the voice came out of her mouth.

"Perhaps...we weren't favoured by fate," she responded.

"Something won't just happen because something else should happen. That is all...," said the nurse.

Tae's eyes widened, and again she looked into that snow-covered scenery. The face of Gu Weiyi appeared in Tae's mind.

"His funeral is over...his sister collapsed when she heard about it. Seo Mina took the responsibility of being her guardian," said the nurse.

Tae took the tablet and jotted it down with a glass of water. For the first time, she took the medicine. This nurse was overjoyed, seeing this, she said.

"So you have decided to move on..."

*************

SOMEWHERE IN HOKKAIDO.

The mountains were covered with snow, and on top of a snow-capped peak came into view a destroyed temple. In that white ground lay a body, completely covered in snow, with only a hand popping out.

The snowstorm has peaked, and the body moved, moving away all the snow it moved. Rising on the foot, the man stood up.

His eyes opened, revealing light for the first time. He felt intense cold and moved into the temple. His wallet fell on the ground, revealing the man's name. The photo in that is somehow ruined.

The letters got almost erased, but the ink spread in ways that resembled a new group of Korean letters. That was written on top of the subtle name "Gu Wieyi", which was previously written in that.

The ink spread read...

"Lee Jaehyuk"

The man was shivering...his hands trembled, and when he collapsed, he held onto a broken statue.

"Where am I?", he muttered while he began to walk again.

A single sentence replayed inside his brain...told by a shade. It continued to play on his mind like a loop.

"You will be the one to end everything"

The feared man walked here, and there an finally found a habitable room inside the temple. The moment he entered the room, a blue screen appeared before him. A floating, strange, blue screen that displayed a weird message...

[WELCOME SOUL KING]

"A hologram?," he uttered.

His face was pale, his vision blurred, his auditory senses were distorted, and his body was weak.

"My limbs...?", he whispered.

He noticed that his amputated limbs were magically intact. He walked into that room, and the system again flashed. A map appeared in the system, which showed a radius of 10km around the area where he stood.
