Chapter 7 - EPISODE 7: THE INVITATION

This moment has been the most amazing moment for Evelyn. Since her daughter came back home for holidays, she thought of everything possible to make her comfortable around her home.

"What would I even do ?!" her thoughts wild around. Her Brain gave her a couple of suggestions: Take her to the park, then go for shopping or would be nice if I organize a house party.

Her Brain is at war while trying to choose what best to do or rather which one to begin with. "I want the world for my princess" she whispered softly.

Evelyn stood by the wife living room window, her phone warm against her palm had sunlight poured into the house like a blessing she had not asked for but desperately need.

She smirk to herself before dailing the first number.

"Hey Sandy" She said brightly

"Hey Evelyn" it came in response

"How re you doing?"

"I think I'm fine, Sharon been giving me hard time lately"

"I completely understand, sometimes it's demanding bringing up these kids. Anyway, guess what guess what girlllll"

" You sound excited, got a new position at work ?"

"That's not it Sandy. My girl is in town"

"Your girl….wait, which?"

"My daughter" she said giggling and tearing up without a notice.

"This is so much goodnews, Evelyn"

"How is she doing?"

"She's good. You should see how grown she is now. Tall. Calm. So beautiful that it scares me something and I be like is this the little girl I held"

"Wow, my goodness! I'm excited to hear this"

"So Sandy, a little house party will hold weekends, come over with the kids. I want the house lively".

"Okay , I get the whole point. Bye"

"Yes. Take care. See you weekend".

She ended the call smiling and immediately tapped on another contact.

"Hello Zoe" She said when the line picked up"

"No, nothing is wron. Something is right for once" she laughed historically.

"Girlll, I have goodnews" she chuckled

"Oh yes, I expected that"

"Thalma is back, my girl is home"

Her voice dropped into something tender .

"Come with Gia and Jeff, she need to see them all. It's weekend, Zoe.

"Okay, I'll be there"

"Bye!!"

By the third call, Evelyn's Excitement had softened into something deeper: pride mixed with relief.

"Hello, Renee" She said gentle "Yes, yes I know it's been a while"

She leaned against the arm of the couch.

" Yes babes, been busy with work and family. Not easy being a woman"

" I completely understand. I have goodnews though . My daughter is home . And before it gets busy again I want her to be surrounded by people who will see and and love her without questions". She smiled faintly.

"You've raised your kids so well. I think Thalma would like to see them. They are around her age , aren't they ?"

"Yes, perfect"

"It's weekend, make it up to me"

"Sure, bye !"

When the call ended Evelyn lowered the phone and exhaled slowly pressing it against her chest for a moment. The house felt fuller already as though the walls themselves were preparing tomhold more laughter.

She turned just right in time to see Thalma standing by the door way. Their eyes met.

"Come over here, Thalma"

She moved gentle to here her mom stood.

"I hope you don't mind" she said gently

"I want people to see you. They know you're here"

"Thalma hesitated, then nodded".

"Okay" she said . "That's fine"

But as she stood up a thought lingered quietly in her chest: Being seen was new and new things always come with fear…
