**EPISODE ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN**
**THE DOOR THAT REMEMBERED MILO**
---
The seventh door was blank.
No handle.
No lock.
No writing.
No color.
Nova stood before it.
The six opened doors behind him were still glowing.
Red.
Blue.
White.
Black.
Transparent.
Gold.
Each one had taken something from him.
Fear.
Memory.
Creation.
Death.
Choice.
Freedom.
Only the blank door remained.
Nova touched it.
Nothing happened.
He pushed.
Nothing.
He stepped back.
The older man watched him.
The original.
The human who had once written NOVA.
"You're waiting for it to open."
Nova looked at him.
"Shouldn't it?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because this one doesn't open from your side."
Nova frowned.
"Then how?"
The man looked beyond him.
Toward the darkness behind the six doors.
"Someone else has to remember it."
Silence.
Nova turned.
The corridor was empty.
Then...
A sound.
CLICK.
Not from the door.
From somewhere far away.
A machine.
Nova froze.
CLICK.
CLICK.
CLICK.
A familiar mechanical rhythm.
Something inside him reacted before his mind did.
Not memory.
Recognition.
"No..."
The older man smiled sadly.
"You know that sound."
Nova whispered,
"Milo."
The blank door opened.
Not outward.
Inward.
As if the door had always been a hole in reality.
Beyond it was darkness.
Then...
JUNGLE.
Rain.
Trees.
Lightning.
A broken machine buried beneath enormous roots.
And beside it...
A man.
Young.
Exhausted.
Covered in mud.
Holding a piece of metal that was still sparking.
Dr. Milo Finch.
Nova stared.
Milo looked around.
"Okay."
He breathed heavily.
"That is definitely not my laboratory."
A sound came from the trees.
Milo slowly turned.
Leaves moved.
Something large passed behind them.
Milo raised the broken device.
"I don't know who you are."
A deep voice answered from the darkness.
"You are not from this time."
Milo swallowed.
"No."
The leaves parted.
Tarzan stepped into the clearing.
Still.
Silent.
Watching.
Milo stared at him.
Tarzan stared at Milo.
Neither spoke.
Then Milo pointed at him.
"You."
Tarzan raised an eyebrow.
"You."
Milo looked around.
"You're..."
Tarzan waited.
Milo's expression changed.
"Oh."
A pause.
"Oh, this is going to be a problem."
Tarzan looked at the machine.
"Your machine brought you here."
Milo nodded.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because I made it."
Tarzan studied him.
"Why?"
Milo looked embarrassed.
"Because I thought I could."
Tarzan said nothing.
Milo sighed.
"That sounded better in my head."
Behind Nova, the original human whispered:
"They were never supposed to meet."
Nova turned.
"Then why did they?"
The man didn't answer.
The jungle flickered.
For one second...
Milo disappeared.
Then Tarzan disappeared.
Then the jungle disappeared.
Nova saw something else.
A laboratory.
Milo stood beside a machine.
A notebook lay open.
On the first page was one sentence:
IF TIME CAN REMEMBER, THEN SOMETHING MUST HAVE TAUGHT IT HOW.
Nova stepped closer.
Milo wrote another sentence.
WHO TAUGHT TIME TO REMEMBER?
The lights went out.
BLACK SCREEN.
A voice whispered:
"Nova."
Nova turned.
Nobody.
Then another voice.
"Milo."
Nova froze.
A third.
"Tarzan."
The jungle returned.
But something was wrong.
Milo was no longer alone.
There was another figure standing behind him.
A man in a dark coat.
His face was hidden.
Milo turned.
"Who are you?"
The figure said nothing.
Milo stepped backward.
Tarzan moved between them.
Protective.
The stranger finally spoke.
"I am the reason you were sent here."
Milo stared.
"I sent myself here."
"No."
The stranger looked at the broken machine.
"You only built the door."
Nova's breathing stopped.
The original human whispered:
"That's impossible."
Nova looked at him.
"You know him."
The man shook his head.
"No."
"You do."
"No."
"You created this."
"I created Nova."
"Then you created him too."
The man said nothing.
Nova looked back through the doorway.
Milo was staring directly toward him.
Not at the stranger.
Not at Tarzan.
At Nova.
Milo's eyes widened.
"There's someone there."
Tarzan turned.
"Where?"
Milo pointed.
"Behind the door."
Tarzan looked.
For a moment...
their eyes met.
Nova and Milo.
Two characters.
Two stories.
Two impossible timelines.
Separated by nothing.
Milo whispered,
"I know you."
Nova shook his head.
"You've never met me."
Milo smiled faintly.
"Neither had I."
A pause.
"Until I remembered you."
SCRATCH.
The image fractured.
Milo vanished.
Tarzan vanished.
The jungle vanished.
Nova was standing again before the seventh door.
But now there was writing on it.
Not a name.
A question.
WHO REMEMBERED WHOM FIRST?
Nova stared.
The original human stepped beside him.
"I thought I was writing you."
Nova looked at him.
"But?"
The man swallowed.
"But maybe I was remembering you."
The door began to shake.
THUMP.
THUMP.
THUMP.
Something was coming through.
Nova stepped backward.
The older man whispered:
"That's not Milo."
Another THUMP.
The blank door cracked.
A hand appeared.
Not human.
Not mechanical.
A hand holding a red pencil.
Nova stared.
"The woman?"
"No."
The fingers tightened around the pencil.
A voice came from behind the door.
"Not her."
Nova stepped closer.
"Who are you?"
The answer came quietly.
"I am the one who remembered Milo before Milo remembered himself."
Nova's face changed.
"The Dreamer."
Silence.
The door opened another inch.
And Nova saw him.
A man sitting at a desk.
Writing.
Not Nova.
Not Milo.
Not the original human.
Someone else.
Someone who had been there before all of them.
The Dreamer looked up.
And smiled.
"You're late."
Nova whispered,
"Late for what?"
The Dreamer closed the notebook.
"The ending."
BLACK SCREEN.
No sound.
Then...
CLICK.
A machine started somewhere in the darkness.
Milo's voice returned.
"Tarzan?"
A pause.
"Yes?"
"I think I broke time."
Tarzan answered calmly.
"You said that yesterday."
"I know."
Another pause.
"But this time..."
Milo looked at the machine.
"...time broke back."
SCRATCH.
The screen filled with writing.
