His cheeks and ears were red. His eyes looked lucid. His pink lips looked wet and tempting.
Helena almost wanted to kiss them. Before she could move her head forward, she stopped herself. She shook her head to get those thoughts out of her head.
"Who am I? Do you have someone in your life? Who are you mistaking me for?" She doubted that Vernon was drunk, and he thought of some lover when he looked at her.
He once again tilted his head, "What are you talking about? You are Helena. My one and only wife and my one and only love. Whom would I call Babe other than you? Don't you know how much I love you already?"
Helena was stunned.
[Was this a confession of love? Vernon loves me? When did that happen? Is he mistaking me for someone else? No. He clearly said I am Helena. So he was confessing to me and not someone else. What is going on here?]
