Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Circle

When he no longer deliberately maintained it, the sphere of light in Suō Tsukasa's hand quickly dissipated into the air.

Without any pause, he immediately began a second attempt.

Surprisingly, this time, without conscious guidance, Suoketsu and Hakusui instantaneously resonated in synchronization. Spiritual power naturally flowed through his body, and the Reishi sphere of light reappeared in his hand.

"Very good."

Suō Tsukasa looked at the light sphere in his hand. With a thought, he controlled it to alternately enlarge and shrink.

Regardless of the change in size, the sphere of light consistently maintained a stable contour and a concentrated halo, showing no sign of disorder.

It's even simpler than expected...

There was no time for self-satisfaction. Suō Tsukasa continued to practice spiritual power control repeatedly until it became an instinct, like breathing.

In just a moment, the goal was achieved. After that, he began to attempt a deeper level of cultivation.

Following his own ideas, he tried to cover his entire right hand with spiritual power, gradually condensing it into a thin layer of uniform and gentle light film, enveloping his palm.

In the quiet night, the faint light of spiritual power intertwined with the moonlight, reflecting and twinkling in his dark eyes.

After a long time, Suō Tsukasa dispersed the spiritual power and slowly exhaled a breath of stale air. A wave of fatigue immediately washed over him, and tiny beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

Everything in excess is as bad as too little. Being a novice with spiritual power, he couldn't help but be a little too fascinated, consuming too much mental energy and spiritual power.

Tonight, he had already made progress far exceeding expectations. Being too greedy and advancing rashly would only backfire. He moved his somewhat stiff limbs, deciding to rest for now.

"Hmm, it's gotten darker!?"

Just then, Suō Tsukasa noticed that the color of the circular pattern on his chest seemed to have deepened, and he was momentarily stunned.

With his current keen eyesight and extraordinary memory, this was naturally not an illusion.

After the late market closed, only he was left in the shop. While cleaning his body with a cloth, he had already discovered this fist-sized circle on his chest, which was an imprint that did not exist before he transmigrated.

However, at the time, he couldn't mobilize spiritual power and didn't find anything peculiar about it. His body also didn't show any adverse symptoms, so he didn't dwell on it too much.

Using spiritual power, he lightly brushed his fingertip over the outline of the circle, but the pattern showed no change.

Suō Tsukasa thoughtfully withdrew his finger. Since he couldn't figure it out right away, time would naturally provide the answer.

The next thing he needed to do in the coming period was to find a way to increase the quantity of his spiritual power. There was still a lot to do.

"Sleep."

Casting aside the miscellaneous thoughts in his mind, Suō Tsukasa retreated into the warm bed. Closing his eyes, he quickly fell into a deep sleep.

The next day.

After breakfast, the refreshed and energetic Suō Tsukasa slightly narrowed his eyes, standing relaxed at the entrance of the shop, waiting. While doing so, he absorbed the pulse of the world in the early morning.

He looked up at the distant street. Figures gradually became denser, and various vendors were setting up stalls in front of their houses.

Yesterday was rather rushed, and he still needed to buy some items, especially men's clothing.

Izakayas generally start operating at the lunchtime market, leaving a long period of free time in the morning.

Before going out, Miss Terada handed him a coin pouch, saying it was an advance on his wages. It felt somewhat heavy in his pocket now.

"Tsukasa-kun, good morning."

"Tamaki-san, good morning."

Before long, Tamaki's greeting came from beside Suō Tsukasa, and he turned his head and raised his hand in return.

The two had already made plans yesterday. Since he was new, he was unfamiliar with the currency situation in West Third District, and the enthusiastic Tamaki had proactively offered to help.

"Let's go. I know a really good shop. Their materials are honest, and their prices are fair. All my family's clothes are bought there."

Tamaki walked lightly to his side, saying with a smile.

In a short while, led by her, the two arrived in front of a garment shop.

Pushing open the door and lifting the curtain to enter, a woman dressed in a dark blue kimono, with her hair neatly tied in a round bun at the back of her head, sat by a table. A few strands of silver hair were mixed with her black hair, and wrinkles were evident at the corners of her eyes, but her face still retained traces of youthful beauty.

"Welcome."

"Oh my, what a rare guest. Isn't this Tamaki-san? Long time no see."

Hearing the door open, the proprietress knew a customer had arrived. She stopped her needlework, casually stuck the sewing needle back into the pincush beside her, and greeted them with a beaming smile.

With her movements, the sleeves of her kimono fluttered lightly like dancing butterflies.

"Mrs. Nishikata, long time no see."

"This is Tsukasa, the new chef at our shop. He specifically came today to buy some clothes."

Tamaki returned the greeting, her tone very familiar, and introduced Suō Tsukasa beside her.

"Tsukasa, is it? A nice name."

"And he's quite handsome, too. What a pity he's a little young," the proprietress said with a smile, appraising the tall, black-haired young man next to Tamaki with a tailor's specific precision and a slight teasing tone.

"Thank you for the compliment. Good morning, Mrs. Nishikata."

Suō Tsukasa bowed gracefully, returning an appropriate smile.

"That's wonderful. I like him even more."

"We recently made clothes from a batch of new fabric that just arrived. They are very nice and would be perfect for you."

"Come with me."

Slightly surprised by his composure, Mrs. Nishikata's eyes curved in a smile, and she led the two directly to an area with a row of dark-colored kimonos featuring simple patterns.

"This one would be very suitable."

"Would you like to try it on?"

Mrs. Nishikata took a light-black, vertically striped kimono from the hanger, briefly held it up against Suō Tsukasa, and recommended it.

"It is nice."

Tamaki nodded in agreement from the side, affirming that the proprietress had an unique eye. The outfit she held genuinely matched Suō Tsukasa's overall temperament.

"Okay."

Suō Tsukasa accepted the kimono and walked straight to the fitting room on the side of the shop. The curtain was lowered to lightly cover the entrance, and soon the rustling sound of fabric being shaken could be heard.

A moment later, the curtain was gently lifted.

Having shed his coarse cloth clothes and changed into the kimono, Suō Tsukasa stepped out with a slight smile. The soft touch of the new cotton fabric on his body made him quite satisfied.

The light-black vertical stripes of the garment perfectly accentuated his tall, straight figure. The smooth texture of the cotton fabric further enhanced his refined and elegant demeanor.

His long hair, which had been casually tied, now fell naturally over his shoulders, softening his facial contours and adding a touch of gentleness.

"Oh, this is absolutely wonderful."

Mrs. Nishikata's eyes lit up, and she couldn't help but clap her hands lightly in praise.

"It truly suits him."

"I feel like something is still missing... wait a moment."

Tamaki's eyes flashed as she mused. Then, she drew a light-colored hair tie from a nearby display rack, walked behind Suō Tsukasa, gently combed through his long hair with her fingers, skillfully gathered the strands, and carefully tied them up with the new hair tie.

"There."

Having completed the final, crucial touch, she stepped back to admire her handiwork, a satisfied smile blooming on her lips.

Suō Tsukasa turned to look into the copper mirror on the wall. The person in the mirror had clear features and was elegantly dressed, looking completely different from the dusty, ragged person he was yesterday.

"Good taste."

The young man with his hair tied up looked more composed. Mrs. Nishikata stood aside, nodding in approval.
