Chapter 2 - Demon Name

"Quick! Pick up the ax and start mining. You're lucky to have already found Velour Rubies."

Myles was taken aback. He was still in a daze when he received the ask from the imp.

He grasped it tightly as he continued to stare at his face in the stone.

"Start now! If the Alpha notices you slacking off, he will disable you with his tail!"

"What's the point of staring at your face?" The imp chuckled. "You're already ugly. Is it that hard to accept?"

Myles frowned and his face became even more ugly.

"Damn it! I can't be uglier than this."

Myles found it difficult to accept, his once handsome face was reduced to a repulsive, sickening, he barely could call face.

Whack!

A sharp noise echoing behind him startled him awake.

"Quick! Act like you're working now while the Alpha is still busy with others."

Myles sighed and raised the ax, hitting at the rock around the gemstone.

He asked, "What is this gemstone called?"

"Gemstone? That's Velour Rubies. They are used for contract seals or pleasure artifacts."

"Pleasure artifacts?" Myles frowned.

"You seriously have lost your mind, haven't you?" The imp stared at his friend in disbelief.

Myles did not reply and he continued, "The succubus are known to create pleasure artifacts. That's why the Lady of Chains and Whispered Vows own the city and the rights of the mine."

"Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows? What's with that cringe ass—"

"Shh!!!" The imp panicked. He immediately stopped mining and said, "Why are you insulting our city lord?"

Myles rolled his eyes and said, "Can't she have a proper name?"

The imp was dumbstruck. He sighed and said, "Alright, I'll treat you as someone who lost his memories and never received the general knowledge of the Demon World after you're born."

The imp was about to open his mouth when he realized something.

He grinned and asked, "Don't you have a name? What is your name?"

"My name?"

Myles thought for a while and said, "Myles Martin."

"Myles Martin?" The imp stared at him with furrowed eyebrows and said, "Sit."

Myles glared at the imp and growled. "Are you treating me like a dog?"

"Dog?" The imp shrugged and said, "So, it was not your name."

Myles was surprised. I guess he was asking for my real name here, not my previous name as a human.

He said, "Well, I don't know about my name. Do you?"

"I can't believe it." The imp drew a sharp breath. "Everyone can lose their memories, but not their name. It's as important as their life."

"Why can't they forget their name?"

The imp sighed helplessly. "I have a name, but I won't dare to tell anyone about it. Same as you, you never told me your name, so how can I know? Same for the Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows.

We call each other depending on how we address each other. I call you Kin because we are on the same level and in the same race. We call him Alpha because he holds authority over us and he's a lot stronger despite being in the same race."

Myles frowned and said, "Why can't we let others know about our real name?"

"Because, it only means we are submitting to that person we told our name to. Us demons are born with a name. The moment we arrived into this world, we heard the first two words and that's our name. We will never forget it. Even if others try to erase our memories, it will never disappear.

If others get to know our name, our soul will enter a contract where we become their slaves. We can't do anything about it."

Myles was silent for a while.

He continued hitting the rocks and pondered.

I guess, I'm lucky that I don't know about my demon name.

He furrowed his eyebrows and grumbled in exasperation.

Damn it! I'm still a slave!

As Myles was pondering about how to escape the place, the same voice echoed in his head again.

[You have finally integrated into the body of an imp.

Do you want to see your status?]

Myles was startled.

He turned around and swept his gaze. He glanced at the imp beside him, who stared at him with confused expression, and asked, "Did you hear that voice?"

"Voice?" The imp frowned. "Other than us? No."

Myles lowered his head and mumbled, "I swear I heard it."

The imp was stunned and dropped his ax, grabbing Myles shoulder.

"Quick! What did it say? Did it tell you your name?"

Myles was surprised.

He turned towards the imp and spoke into the voice in his mind.

"Please do."

[Understood.

Here is your current status.]

[Name: Myles Martin

Demon Name: Vorash Kael Nethrux Zaal'eth Omnigra

Rank: Rank 5 Lesser Demon

Bloodline: Ancient Demon of Gluttony

Skills: Energy Drain]

Myles was frozen.

He stared at the hologram-like screen in front of him.

He turned towards the imp and pointed at the screen.

"Do you see that?"

"See what? Rocks?"

Myles was lost for words.

He stared at the screen once again and read the contents.

Am I really the only one who can see it?

As he was pondering, he read his demon name and was startled.

He turned towards the imp, who kept staring at him with a confused expression, and said, "You said my name should be two words."

The imp nodded innocently.

"Yes. Even Greater Demons only have two words. A Demon Lord has three. A Demon King has four."

Myles turned towards the screen and turned towards the imp again, confusing the imp even more.

He asked, "How about five?"

"Five?" The imp frowned.

"I don't know, I never heard about it."

Myles turned towards the screen again and counted each word of his demon name.

There are five. That means my potential is higher than a king.

His eyes shone with delight.

There is a chance… I can rule this world.

He recalled what his boss said and grinned.

It seems you jinx it twice, boss.

He laughed harder, gaining the attention of the Alpha…
