Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Vs the spider horde

He called all of the combatants down, they stood Infront the metal door. A tiny hole had been burnt through it.

Even with the anti acid coating, the spiders still managed to eat through it. Which he kind of understood.

The coating was made to resist ant acid. The first thing he ordered was for an earth wall to be raised.

The wall was short enough for shooters to be able to aim over it while standing but tall enough for them to hide behind.

He was positive these spiders could spit their poison as projectiles, it was a common trait for spider monsters and beasts.

More so for monsters, spider monsters were very terrifying, a trait they took from their mother whose name he had forgotten.

Spider beasts on the other hand were common spiders who evolved due to mana, they might gain certain abilities but they weren't as terrifying.

Fortunately for them, what they were facing were mere spider beasts. The hole on the wall grew wider and wider.

Until it was wide enough for a full sized dog to pass through. " Fire." He ordered. The first spiders came through.

A bullet flew like a streak of red, it went through multiple spiders killing them all. These spiders were not even rank 1.

Plus they were tiny so a single bullet dealt significant damage to them. More kept coming out.

However these were weak, too weak to make them worry. It took only a few bullets to kill them all.

A single bullet killed multiple of them but the door was being corroded rapidly now. " Be ready."

The mages stood back and readied their spells. He figured he should probably craft them staffs when he get the chance.

The only thing he lacked were elemental crystals matching their elements to make the staffs more effective.

He turned his attention to the spiders coming out like a flood. A pile of them lay on the ground dead.

Yet more kept rushing out as if they were not afraid of death. Eventually the door was completely destroyed.

Then the wave came flooding out, the spiders climbed on top of each other and lunged at them.

His people stood still unmoving, he was caught off guard as he didn't expect them to just freeze.

" Flames of old, rise from the depth and obey my words. Hell Inferno" a cyclone of flames spawned amidst the spiders and incinerated them.

" GET BACK TO YOUR SENSES YOU USELESS MARGOT, DO YOU WANT TO SHAME THE GREAT LORD OF DREAMS."

Viona shouted bringing them back to their senses. When she mentioned the god of dreams, new vigor filled their veins.

He decided to encourage them as well, he used two divine points to make his presence known as if he was standing there with them.

This did nothing really, it was just a way to encourage believers, to make them feel like their God was with them.

But that shouldn't be underestimated, faith could make people do the craziest things. It started with one.

A man roared and started unloading his entire magazine on the spiders. Others followed.

They were so excited, one of the mages, a woman cast a spell and fired a water arrow at the spiders.

Khali looked at her and shook his head, she looked embarrassed and apologised. The mages had another task.

One they've all been training for since the day they opened their first mana nodes and became initiate.

As the fight continued they started running out of ammo. He whispered to one of the warriors who turned and ran back up.

Eventually the ammo ran out, he looked at them and nodded. They put down the guns and pulled out their melee weapons.

Most were wielding swords like Viona, just of different sizes and shapes. Only a few had their own unique weapons.

Like the massive warrior who almost got snatched by the forest, his weapon was a mace.

A small woman was wielding two daggers, two warriors, a man and a woman who were twins both wielded spears.

Khali promised himself to learn the names of the humans instead of just calling them that one or that one.

It's just that to him, knowing the names of humans was like knowing the names of mayfly.

They would die in the time it took for him to take a nap, of course that was in the past, now he was living amongst them.

However that was for another time, they had more pressing issues than names right now. The warriors were all squires.

Even the weakest and slowest of them was many times stronger than these spiders, even so, they were outnumbered a lot.

After a while they started being overwhelmed by the sheer number of the spiders.

He looked at Viona and nodded. She grinned excitedly and pulled out her sword. When she joined the fray it became visible.

After all, as a warlock she was very powerful, with enough power to match a two mana nodes squire or initiate.

Her sword turned into a flaming red blur, everywhere she went death followed. " In the name of the great God of dreams you will perish by my blade."

She growled as she pointed her sword at the spiders. The moment she said that Khali heard a click in his soul.

A faint connection was formed between them. She couldn't tell where it came from but she could clear feel it as well.

" THE LORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED ME, PRAISED BE HIS NAME." The others had no idea what was happening.

However they heard praise his name and so they did enthusiastically. They roared with her and attacked the spiders with new vigor.

While the others didn't know, how could he not. Viona had become his first real worshipper.

He could now receive divine energy from her simply because she exist. However the connection was not too one sided.

While it doesn't give her direct power, it cleared her mind and heart removing her fears.

For a talented battle maniac like her, this was a god given gift and it showed immediately. With a clear heard and higher concentration she was able to read the flow of the battle much easier.

She started flowing like a dancing fairy through the spider horde. They stood no chance against her.

Before she could realise, she had killed all of the spiders around her. When she looked around there were no longer any.

However Khali wasn't happy. Deep in the dark tunnel. He saw 8 massive eyes glaring at him.

However that isn't what made him worry, through the eyes he saw an intelligence he did not expect.
