Two months.
Selene had been Damian's personal attendant for two months now. Two months of carefully controlled interactions. Two months of daily torture disguised as routine service.
Two months of fighting the mate bond with every ounce of willpower she possessed.
The wound-tending incident from a few days ago still haunted her. She'd barely slept since then, her mind replaying the moment over and over. Being that close to him. Touching his bare skin. Feeling the heat of him under her fingers as she'd cleaned and bandaged that cut.
Her wolf had gone absolutely feral. Howling inside her mind about their injured mate. Demanding she stay close. Demanding she protect and heal and comfort.
Selene had fled his chambers the moment the bandage was tied, practically running down the corridor. She'd made it to the servants' quarters and collapsed on her bunk, trembling from the effort of not doing something catastrophically stupid.
