Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: A Bit Of Gossip

When the Kemble ladies got acquainted with Daphne, they hurriedly monopolized her, and Beatrix, and Amabel didn't seem to mind at all.

In fact, while those ladies were chatting, the two, as well as the other nieces were in the middle of a gossip continuation, slightly a bit distance away from Daphne's group.

"Philippa married into the Langdale family but until now, there haven't been any child. It is making a lot of people to wonder whether the couple doesn't like children or can't have them," Berth clicked her tongue as she animatedly spoke.

Who in this circle didn't understand the importance of having children?

Children expands the family bloodline. Without an extension, where would the wealth they worked so hard for to amass go to?

Wouldn't it be a waste?

Amabel couldn't help but recall how desperate her lover Valentine was for a child. Was he also in the same situation as Mr. Langdale?

Were these women refusing to have their husband's children?

She wasn't even sure Valentine was married. After all, she had never seen him with a wring and she didn't have the resources to investigate him. Besides, it didn't matter. Whether married or single, Valentine was hers, and she was going to make sure of that.

As for whether her actions were selfish, she was already past that.

She was now living for herself and whatever actions she takes, she no longer regrets any of it.

Since she chose this path, she was going all out and won't be stopping midway.

"I heard someone saying that its Mrs. Langdale who didn't want children. She wanted to focus on her career first before having children," another niece chirped in sharing what she overhead.

"I heard others saying that Mr. Langdale, is not the faithful kind. He keeps mistresses outside."

"Is that true? Then, isn't Mrs. Langdale pitiful?"

"Humph! While it's a pity that he has mistresses, I don't believe that such a man born in such a family would do something reckless. What if something is pushing him to do so?"

"Moreover, there isn't any evidence that he actually keeps them mistresses."

The story started straying from the path, and Amabel and Beatrix listened to this gossip with stars in their eyes.

Who would have thought that such an arrogant woman wasn't having it easy?

"Is there a way to check this Mr. Langdale?" the more she heard about the man, the more curious she became.

Amabel was curious to see what this man looks like.

Unfortunately, the answer she got was disappointing.

"Mr. Langdale, is very formidable. Unless he wishes for it, not even a single reporter can take his photo," they regretful informed him, making her sigh with regret.

"So, how do people even see him?"

"If you are lucky to attend those charity banquets or family banquets, you might bump into him."

"I once saw him from a distance. The man is fine like wine. I envy Mrs. Langdale so much."

"What's there to envy?"

The group chuckled as they gossiped heartily, and once the known gossip on Philippa was over, the topic shifted to Daphne.

"Auntie Amabel, you really met today with that Grimshaw woman?"

Amabel nodded, and truthfully responded, "Yes, we met at the hospital and since we were all coming to the same event, ended up coming together. Why?"

Berth's eyes lit up as she scooted closed to Amabel and in a lowered voice said, "then you need to learn a bit about your friend, in case you offend her without knowing."

When that was said, Amabel looked gratefully at Berth, and Berth beamed as she started sharing what she knew.

"Daphne had been friends with Philippa since university. She is from the Grimshaw family, and it's a family that is in the top ten. Their family is involved in entertainment industry and happen to own the top entertainment company in Harmony City."

Their main business revolved around the entertainment industry, but they are also involved in other industries through investments.

Daphne is the only girl amongst the two boys. With the older one being the current CEO, and the youngest, a well-known actor and currently hospitalized.

Talking about hospitalization, Amabel and Beatrix couldn't help but recall Beatrix's hospital visit. Was she there to visit her brother?

Anyway, the gossip continued.

"Daphne is a tech guru. She runs a tech company and you will be surprised to know that some of the games we love playing recently are from her company.

Not only does she run such a company but she also has two fashion brands, with one them majoring in ..." as Berth spoke, she couldn't help but eye the clothes that the two were wearing and exclaimed, "where did you get these clothes?"

The two, thinking about where they got it, truthfully responded and the nieces' eyes were nearly popping out of their sockets as they enviously looked at them.

"You are really ….. she must really like you. Do you know how difficult it is to get even a single fascinator from that shop? To think that you actually got the full package, you must have struck her heart to make her like you."

It was quite surprising to learn that, but it also made the two friends' happy to know that.

Once Berth had calmed her envious heart, she continued to share about Daphne.

"Do you know that Daphne hasn't married yet? Some they say that her family once chased away the man she loved, so she vowed never to marry anyone again and wait for him,"

Amabel rolled her eyes as she found that hilarious.

"Is that even possible?"

Berth chuckled as she found that hilarious as well and continued, "some say that she is not interested. Anyway, she is purely dedicated to her work, and is quite loyal to her friends.

To cut the long story short, don't play any tricks on her. She has the capital to ruin you and make the whole internet to forever remember you. I have seen how brutal their agency is, when dealing with enemies."

Berth didn't want her new auntie and the one she barley like to end up getting crucified on the internet just because they have offended Daphne in some ways.

It was normal for people to underestimate themselves, and seek more than what they should. Once that happens, who knows the kind of consequences they might suffer?

She wasn't looking down on her two aunts, but was sincerely hoping that no harm will befall on them.

If a scandal rises about her third aunt, the whole Kemble family will suffer. She doesn't want to see that happening to her own family.

As for Amabel, it would be terrible if anything else happened. Her mother was already in a bad shape and if more trouble comes, then … she didn't dare think farther about it.
