Chapter 56 - Sparring (2)

CHAPTER 54

"Let the spar begin!"

The moment the order was given, the simp darted forward at a decent speed while Flinn's friend took a clumsy stance, watching the teen rush forward.

'Hey wait. I thought this was meant to be a demonstration or som…' he trailed off as the simp's foot flew through the air toward his head.

"Shoot." He cursed, then, by the skin of his teeth, ducked down, avoiding the straight kick heading for his neck.

Rolling to the side, he stood up, ready to counter, when a low crack was heard as the simp's heel smashed into his nose, sending him sprawling to the ground.

Blood oozed from his nose as he reeled in pain, sprawled on the floor.

"Tch." The simp placed his leg back down with a wide grin on his face as he turned to face Trisha, who didn't even glance at the fight taking place.

Her hands were crossed over her generous chest while she stared straight ahead as if the whole thing was a bore.

'Really? I didn't even get her attention?'

Meanwhile, Trisha was in her own head.

'This place reeks of weaklings. Why did I even transfer here in the first place?'

"You did well," Jake's voice cut through the air as he stared at the simp. "But I asked you to teach not to swiftly overpower your opponent."

"I'm sorry."

"Whatever." Jake waved his hand dismissively, a bit annoyed.

"Next!" he called out after Flinn's friend was lifted and taken off to the side.

The next spar was a bit slow as the two were slightly evenly matched, and throughout the fight, the second simp gave pointers to his opponent.

Soon enough, it ended in a win on the simp's side.

The same pattern continued with Flinn's third friend, until it was Flinn's turn.

He stood before his opponent, whose gaze was always fixed on Trisha specifically, her long, slender legs hidden behind her pants.

"Begin!"

Without waiting for his opponent to be ready, Flinn rushed forward, aiming to overpower him quickly.

His fist shot forward.

Feeling the change in the air, the Aspirant quickly turned around and swung his foot out, slamming it onto Flinn's knuckles, then used his second leg to push himself backward, creating distance.

This was the 'push kick.'

Staggering back a bit, Flinn dashed forward again, but his opponent kept maintaining distance while giving words of advice.

Then he suddenly paused and turned to face Trisha, who still didn't give a shit.

"Hey, beautiful. Over here!"

Hearing the voice, she finally turned her gaze to the fight—only for Flinn to grit his teeth angrily and bolt forward, catching the Aspirant off guard before hammering his fist into the guy's nose, breaking it and sending him reeling to the ground.

Trisha said nothing as she shook her head and turned away with a disappointed look.

The next person was called out to try and defeat Flinn, but it ended in the Aspirant's defeat.

The following person actually managed to defeat Flinn.

He was told to step aside to join the previous three who had won their matches.

"Trisha, you are up next," Jake called out, the same dark glint flashing across his face.

One of the remaining five Aspirants was called out, his grin widening to the extent that his lips looked as if they were touching his ears as he walked forward.

"Begin."

The command was all Trisha needed.

She vanished in a blur, appearing in front of her opponent.

"That grin disgusts me."

A loud crack echoed through the hall, and the Aspirant crumpled to the ground, yelling in pain.

Everybody gasped in horror at what they had just witnessed.

The Aspirant's leg was shattered, bones protruding from his flesh.

Everything happened within the blink of an eye—too fast for normal eyes to follow, except for two people who saw everything perfectly.

Captain Jake and Ray.

Trisha had just swung her foot out, bashing it against the Aspirant's leg—specifically the side, a bit below his knee and the result was this.

The others gulped loudly, fearfully taking a step back, unwilling to continue the spar after seeing the state of their partner.

Even though the Corps employed a high-grade healer, nobody wanted to have their leg shattered by a girl.

It was too much pain to endure, especially if they couldn't see her move.

Placing his finger on his ear, Jake muttered something, and soon enough, two men appeared in the room.

They grabbed the injured Aspirant and then vanished.

"That's all? Nobody wants to challenge her again?"

Gulp—!

The others stepped back, making their choices clear.

"I will." A sudden voice cut through the silence as a hand rose confidently.

Parting aside like the Red Sea, a young boy with silver hair stood there, a calm smile on his face.

"Eh? You really want to challenge her?" Jake asked again, seeking confirmation.

Ray nodded.

Finally, Trisha showed an emotion as she tilted her head to stare at the one who had decided to take up the challenge.

Aside from the ridiculous silver hair, there was nothing special about him.

He just looked… mid at best.

So what was giving him the confidence that he could defeat her?

Unknown to her, Ray actually never intended to fight her.

It was just a thought that had stirred in his mind, birthing this situation.

'If only I could perfectly see how she did that technique, maybe I would be able to perform it too.'

DING!

[The system would help you with that]
