Listening to the faint complaints of his classmates, Kaiser pondered about the weird gaze Instructor Rina had given him. He knew she was interested in his affinity for darkness. However, why did he see a hint of longing in her eyes?
Did he remind her of someone or something? He didn't know, so he decided to set the matter aside. Picking up his schoolbag, he prepared to leave.
"So you have an affinity for darkness, huh?"
Hearing that aloof voice speak to him, he sighed. It was no surprise that she had noticed. After all, she had been standing beside him.
"Is there a problem with that? Or are you just surprised?"
He hung the strap of the bag on his shoulder, then turned to her.
Hazel met his indifferent gaze with equal aloofness. Her brown eyes, filled with loftiness, seemed to say she didn't care.
"Don't flatter yourself. There is nothing special about a person's affinity. What matters is how it is utilized."
Her tone was icy as she spoke, conveying her disdain for narcissism.
"When did I tell you it is special? Don't jump to conclusions, girl. It's annoying."
Kaiser shook his head, as if scolding his little sister, then walked away. He had other important things to do than entertain a proud and aloof tsundere.
Hazel blinked, stunned by his words. Her cheeks flushed in shame. Did he just scold her? Ever since she had been born, only her father had scolded her. Yet, this guy…
'Tch.'
Her lips twitched, and she suddenly felt the urge to step on him. Even then, she realized her mistake. She was indeed surprised by his affinity for darkness. However, to mask this surprise, she had spoken harshly, believing he was being narcissistic.
'Fine. You win that.'
Just as she was preparing to leave, someone approached her. Seeing that it was Liam, she decided to not ignore him.
"Hi, Hazel." He smiled, then waved his phone. "I already got the Rules and I'm about to send it to the class group. However, you're not on the group."
Hazel nodded. Indeed, when Ysabella had previously approached her, she had shut the girl down and refused to give out her contact. Now though, it seems she needed to join the group.
"Alright. Here's my number."
Liam saved her contact, then added her to the group immediately.
"Thanks. I'll send it now. Enjoy the rest of the day."
He smiled, then turned away.
"Wait!" Hazel stopped him, her expression focused. "Do you know who exactly sold you the rules?"
Liam paused, then shook his head.
"No. I was just messaged out of the blue. And the account didn't have any bio-data. So I guess the person wanted to remain unknown. It could be a fellow first-year, or an upperclassman."
Hazel nodded in agreement. "Alright. That's all I wanted to ask."
As Liam left, Hazel quietly wondered who exactly had sold the information to her class. It seemed a lot was bound to be abnormal in this school.
...…..
Meanwhile, Kaiser headed straight to the Student Council Office. On the way, he met with the Student Council Vice-President who was chatting with a female upperclassman, their conversation circling around indecent topics.
Kaiser ignored them, then entered the office after hearing Senior Reas's voice.
As soon as he entered, President Anthony raised his head from the stack of papers before him.
"Kaiser. You're here. I presume you have enough credits to buy the One-Month Ownership?"
Kaiser nodded, not bothering to sit on the cushion. He strode towards the president, then whipped out his phone.
The blonde man nodded, then took out a document. He then gave him a card which contained the account number for Kaiser to transfer to.
Watching his 'hard-earned' money reduce by almost half, Kaiser winced slightly. Then, he read through the documents. It claimed that the buyer had ownership of the twenty security cameras located in the first-year classrooms, and every information recorded by it, for a month.
"Does this include the first week of resumption?"
Kaiser asked without turning to the president, still reading through the documents.
"Yes." President Anthony nodded, confirming his guess.
Kaiser was satisfied, then proceeded to sign the document. Keeping his own copy, he gave the other to President Anthony.
After that, the blonde man gave him a small device resembling a flash drive.
'So this is it, huh? Let's see how much we can do about it…'
"Kaiser. Do you mind me asking how you got enough credits to pay for this?"
With his chin rested on his interlocked fingers, the Student Council President asked. His eyes, covered by a white blindfold, was focused on Kaiser's figure.
Kaiser paused, then turned to Senior Reas. While he was confident that the Student Council President might not leak the information, he wasn't so sure about his assistant.
"You can trust her."
Sensing his questioning gaze, the blonde man vouched for his assistant.
"Alright." Kaiser shrugged, then told them. "I simply got the school's important information, then compiled it into a readable file. After that, I sold it to my class for a considerable sum."
Reas blinked in surprise, her rosy lips parting slightly. Before President Anthony could speak, she quickly asked.
"Wait, your class? Why would you collect credits from your own classmates?"
From her perspective, he was supposed to give it to his class freely, then sell it to the other classes. After all, knowing the rules would help his class greatly, probably surpassing Class-D, even.
Kaiser rolled his eyes. "There's no need to think too deeply. My class needs it the most, and are the easiest to coerce. Other classes are already getting hints and wouldn't be willing to pay that much for the rules, especially Class-A."
Reas blinked again, a bit surprised. So this guy wasn't ashamed of extorting his own classmates? What if they found out?
While she was thinking, Kaiser nodded towards the president who remained silent, then left the office.
Reas exhaled, then turned to Anthony. Sensing the question in her gaze, he smiled subtly.
"Junior Kaiser is definitely intriguing. He doesn't really care about the Class Rankings, so he sees no reason to treat his class specially. Instead, he's more focused on collecting credits."
Reas furrowed her brows slightly. "Really? That's strange. I thought since he knows everything already, he'd want to aim for Class-A as quickly as possible."
Anthony shook his head. "You can't determine a person's goals that easily. Also, have you wondered why he bought the cameras?"
Reas frowned slightly. "Uh… now that I think about it, it's strange. He could have bought the cameras for his class alone, ensuring no Class Rank Points was deducted. However, why did he buy for other classes?"
Suddenly, her eyes widened. "It can't be…! He wants to do that?!"
Seeing that she had realized too, Anthony's smile widened.
"Indeed. I believe he wants to do that. Well, let's wait and see, alright?"
