With the explanation of injured people and the need to have 57 beds moved, two people stepped forward, both middle-aged ladies.
"Sir Dobin, my name is Ariadne, I can heal the others then accompany you to find any other injured if you'd like?" She healed the other two gentlemen who climbed off Rosalie's back once their mobility returned.
The other approached Dobin then curtsied, "I'm Adira. I think it might be easier if I used my teleport ability to move as many beds as I can. Those that are injured can move the rest. The sick will also need to be moved. I think there are a few wheeled hospital beds in storage as well that can be used to transport them to the dining hall."
Dobin smiled, looking relieved. "How about the three of you go to the storage room, Ariadne and I will return to that other room and get those men healed. They join you. She and I continue to look around."
Adira smiled, "I'll have Lady Tanisha contact you once everyone is accounted for."
Dobin thought for a moment, "I don't know if she has my contact information… My sister usually handles all that kind of stuff."
He gave her his information, and the two parties went their separate ways, bidding the others luck as some babies had started crying.
Dobin, Rosalie, and Ariadne quickly and quietly exited the room. Dobin started yawning as they were healing the servants who were pushed. As they were able to speak, he and Ariadne learned Barica lead them to the area and pushed them down the hole.
While the view of the ocean was wonderful, the excruciating pain they all experienced was not. Dobin learned a lot about the woman who terrorized the family. He wondered how much his sister knew about the family history. And… If she knew, why was it a secret from him?
He sent a small curse to his sister under his breath for her secrets then he, Ariadne and Rosalie began the walk around the floor looking for additional missing people.
Just then, his badge went off. He didn't recognize the number so he answered it without knowing that information.
"Dobin! This is Tanisha. Based on what I've been told, there are 27 servants still unaccounted for. Have you found any more?"
"Not yet. I'm quite tired from the day we had but if there are more injured, we need to find them."
"I agree. Ariadne should be able to help you make quick work of it though. Let me know if there's a problem," Tanisha said. "We have all the beds in place and are working on moving the sick in."
"Okay, I'll get you more help as soon as I can. We both need sleep," he said as he disconnected the call.
Ariadne had an idea, "the library can be accessed from several floors. There are a few secret areas off it. I bet we can find some there."
Dobin raised his eyebrow, "several floors? Does my sister know about your library?"
Ariadne thought his reaction was funny and chuckled, I won't know. I've never met her. We were just told about you two."
He followed her to the worshipping center of the written word and his jaw dropped when they walked in the room.
"There are centuries worth of texts in here." She smiled, "I used to joke in private that there are a few things the family hoards: precious metals, jewels, abilities and books."
Dobin chuckled, "based on my sister's wedding dress, I believe that!"
Ariadne looked up at him, her five foot eight inch frame complimenting his, "I bet she was stunning."
Dobin grinned, "she was covered in gems. They were even layers and they gave her wings! He calls her Butterfly, so she had wings to simulate that."
She smiled, "I'd love to meet the Mistress someday. With this being the last batch of children, I'm sure it will be soon."
They were walking up a flight of stairs to the next level. Dobin didn't even want to imagine what would happen if his sister saw this room.
Ariadne pulled some books out of a bookshelf and it moved quietly. She pushed it through the wall and exposed a staircase.
"The only reason I know about this is I was tasked as a research assistant to Lady Barica before the Walkers came to our island. We lost some people so she moved me to the children and just borrowed me a she needed after that."
Dobin nodded and followed her. "I guess you were the right one to help me with this!"
She smiled and descended the four steps that were then then pushed another wall, This opened into a lab.
Dobin's jaw dropped as they entered a room with artificial sunlight and plants all over. Some were in vats, some in pots. There were some being grown in put that resembled round Orbies, clear spheres that absorbed water.
As they walked around, Dobin with his chin still on the floor, they heard moans that sounded like pain. It took them a bit to find the source.
Some of the grow bins had storage cabinets installed in them. Seven of them had a person stuffed in them.
Dobin and Rosalie unfolded them from the tight space while Ariadne healed each of them.
Their tale was rather interesting. Dobin listened as the plant researchers that were also servants, told a tale of working away on comparing growing methods of carnivorous plants when a wind appeared to fill the room.
Then they all got folded up and shoved in the cabinets! They were so cramped in there, they couldn't move to get themselves out.
Even Rosalie was shaking her head about the craziness of the situation. What kind of family did she join!
Dobin called Tanisha and told her about the find. They were all told they could resume their work or go to bed. Whatever they wanted to do.
Only 20 more to go.
Ariadne heard the number 20 come through Dobin's badge and had a thought. Her face turned pale.
"We need to go. Right now!" she took off running. Dobin couldn't keep up and had to climb on Rosalie's back to keep pace.
As she approached the aviary, Dobin called out, "wait. We started it there."
She turned to him, "did you find the secret room?"
"Secret room? No, but my sister put a crater into the floor that blasted her into the wall and knocked her out..."
Ariadne looked at him, blinking, trying to process what she had just been told. Her brain just quit so she turned and walked into the room. Once Dobin came in, she opened the cage door then stopped.
"You weren't lying…" she said, staring at the crater.
Dobin chuckled, "did you think I was?"
She simply nodded, "I thought only Lady Barica or maybe Master Kyle had that kind of power."
Dobin chuckled, "well, add my sister to that list."
She nodded then walked over to a wall that was furthest from the blast. There was no damage to it. Dobin noticed a hole.
"Jethro, mama needs the door open," Ariadne called out.
Before long, the same bird from earlier flew down, stuck his beak in the hole and turned it."
Just like before, the wall moved inward. What he saw made Dobin want to throw up.
