Chapter 7 - New friends!

Reincarnated as a castle, Day 11

Points: 1 Point generation: 1/day

***

When I woke up, it was already morning. A breezy wind brushed against my walls—cool, crisp, and refreshing. The storm from last night was gone, leaving behind a clear blue sky and puddles scattered across the grassy field around me.

Chirp.Chirp chirp.

Birds were singing, welcoming me back with their cheerful songs.

Meanwhile…

Woah! Amazing!

I could already feel it—my core had grown a little larger than before, pulsing with stronger energy!

I was bursting with power!

Kaka! I'm so happy!

Now that I generated one point per day, sooner or later I'd finally be able to buy something or upgrade my other shops.

All I needed was patience.

Ahhhh~

Now then, it was time for a castle's daily routine.

Which was… doing nothing!

Haha.

I guess I'd just sit back, relax, and hibernate.

But then—

Wait a minute!

I suddenly realized something.

There were chirping sounds…

And what animals chirp?

Birds?

BIRDS?!

Chirp-chirp-chirpy!

I tilted my camera angle downward, zooming in on the tiny commotion near my western turret.

And there they were!

Not just one…

But four of them!

The four little birds—no, fluffballs—were hopping around like they owned the place. Their feathers were a mix of soft browns and creamy whites, with one noticeably bigger bird sporting a bright red chest. It was busy fixing its feathers.

Robins? I think?

AAA! FINALLY!

I FINALLY HAVE SOME FRIENDS!

Needless to say, I spent the next few minutes watching them with pure excitement.

Awww! They're so cute!

Chirpy chirp chirp!

Soon, they landed right on the windowsill of my second-floor arched window. The ledge was wide enough for them to prance about, pecking at the crumbling mortar like it was a five-course meal.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"Uh, hello? That's my wall you're snacking on," I thought at them.

Of course, they just tilted their heads in perfect unison, staring at me with their beady little eyes. The red-chested one even puffed up its feathers, as if to say, And? What are you gonna do about it, brick-face?

Haha. How cute!

Too bad I couldn't talk to them. Or pet them.

Still, with these birds around, at least I wouldn't be so lonely anymore.

Then suddenly, the bigger one with the red chest flew away.

NOOOOO!!!

I wailed.

COME BACKKK!!

I was literally sobbing in my mind.

However, a few minutes later, it returned—with a twig in its beak.

Oh shit!

That was when I finally noticed it.

Nestled in the corner of the windowsill, half-hidden by a loose stone, was a tiny, messy pile of twigs and dry grass.

And… was that a strand of my own ivy?

Oh my god…

It was a nest!

HECK YEAHHH!

A BIRD NEST ON MY CASTLE!!!

The fluffballs were moving in!

Kakaka! Good choice, fluffy friends! There's literally no safer or better place to build a nest than an abandoned castle!

I screamed in joy inside my mind.

And to think I'd get to see baby birds soon…

Aww! This is amazing!

But wait…

There was one bigger bird and three smaller ones, all sharing the same nest now…

OH SHIT!

IT'S A HAREM!

That thought made me giggle.

Hmm… now then… should I name these fellows?

And just like that, I spent the next hour thinking of the best names possible.

In the end, I settled on Jack for the male, and Mira, Sophia, and Bella for the females. They were actually the names of the main characters from my old novel.
