Chapter 33 - 33: A Divine Weapon?

There was a reason why the Shadowgrave Clan sent three Greater Demons to kill Zaglur who was just a Merchant.

Although the Daegrins were not particularly known for their battle prowess, they were known and feared for one thing.

Artifacts and Treasures

Possession of numerous artifacts and treasures

Daegrins were treasure and artifact seekers, and their bloodline allowed them to find artifacts and treasures other demons or humans would normally not find.

Their instincts towards the locations of treasures and artifacts is unmatched in the three realms.

And this made the Daegrins dangerous.

While a human might only possess five artifacts, a Daegrin of a similar power level could possess twenty or even more artifacts.

Although the Daegrins were not exceptional in combat, the numerous treasures in their possession made each and every one of them a force to be reckoned with.

A lack of information about a Daegrin's artifacts, and a lack of preparation against those artifacts could lead to the death of those who dared to kill a Daegrin.

Daegrins only desired wealth over everything else, even power. But every knowledgeable demon knows that even wealth was power.

This was also why there were so few deaths of Daegrins, and the death of a Daegrin usually sent waves across the upper echelons of the demon society.

In Simon's time, many humans had tried hunting for Daegrins once it was known that they were walking treasure chests.

But 99% of the hunts against Daegrins ended up in massive failures and an immense number of deaths.

The Daegrins were one of the few races in the demon realm with a foundation that was so solid not even the Demon King of Death could shake in Simon's past life.

The Daegrins were dangerous, but because they were neutral and had no desire to be involved in politics and the power struggle of humans and demons, they were left untouched.

Also, the stronger a Daegrin, the more treasures the Daegrin was more likely to have.

Zaglur was a reputable Greater Demon amongst the Daegrins and the upper echelons of the demon society, and the Shadowgrave Clan knew that to kill him they would need to be thoroughly prepared.

However, preparation was not the only thing that gave them the confidence to try and kill Zaglur.

They also knew that Zaglur was broke because of the deal he made with them.

Many of his artifacts which could unleash attacks at the level of a Demon Lord were no more, and the three Greater Demons just had to make sure they killed him in his current state.

A broke Daegrin was a vulnerable Daegrin.

However, Zaglur was proving rather difficult for the Velaris to fight.

As a massive whirlwind of flames roared and crackled into the sky, the three Velaris who were caught off guard by Zaglur's attack struggled to protect themselves.

They screamed as their bodies were burned by the flames, but a few seconds later, their shadows moved and covered them in a spherical barrier.

"Tsk."

Zaglur clicked his tongue when he saw this, then he pulled the string of the bow and the eye of one of his rings emitted a fiery crimson light.

Another flaming arrow appeared in his fingers, and he aimed it at the flaming tornado.

"I told you that you'll regret betraying me."

He closed a single eye, and as he was aiming for the three burning spheres of shadows that were struggling in his attack, his own shadow suddenly rippled.

A figure clad in black cloak slowly rose from Zaglur's shadow. This figure was one of the three Velaris.

Zaglur remained ignorant of the Velari behind him, but when the Velari was about to stab him from behind, one of Zaglur's rings suddenly emitted a glow and time slowed down.

The Velari's dagger which was mere inches from piercing the back of Zaglur seemingly froze, and Zaglur calmly took a step forward and turned with the flaming arrow in his hand.

On his face was the calm and harmless smile he usually had before he got betrayed.

The world's time was slowed down, but Zaglur's time was not. He could move normally while everything in a hundred meters radius around him could not.

This was the power of an artifact.

"Fool."

Without saying anything else, he shot the arrow at the Velari's heart.

The flaming arrow pierce the demon's heart, shattered it, then combusted the heart and the demon altogether.

The demon could not even make a sound before his life was burnt out of him.

Zaglur killed one of the two Velaris, and a few moments later, the flaming tornado receded.

The two shadow spheres also receded, revealing the appearance of the Velaris.

Their cloaks were burnt, revealing parts of their bodies which were bandaged.

One of the Velaris looked at the burning corpse of their partner, and though Zaglur could not see his facial expression, he could clearly perceive the killing intent of not just the Velari but of both Velaris.

"I warned you that you'll pay the price for betraying me."

Zaglur said with a light smile filled with confidence, then he held his bow with his left hand and lowered it.

He raised his right hand which was filled with rings, then he pointed at the Velaris.

"Die for me."

An egg-sized fire ball was formed at the tip of his fingers, and a second later, Zaglur released it at the stunned and shaken Velaris.

The fireball moved at lightning fast speed, then it exploded when it was a meter away from touching the Velaris.

But when it exploded, dozens of bullet-sized fireballs shot at the Velaris at a much faster speed.

BANG!

BANG!

BOOM!

BANG!

BOOM!

The Velaris were bombarded by the dozens of fireballs which were like grenades, but only more powerful.

Dense smoke and a powerful dust cloud erupted as a result of the attack, and Zaglur's smile remained when he saw this.

His breathing was uneven, and sweat could be seen dripping from his chin, but other than that, he was okay.

"Damn. Even with the Miser's Ring, my demonic energy is nearly depleted. Fighting is not meant for Daegrins honestly."

Zaglur wiped away the sweat from his face, and just as he lowered his hand.

Puchi!

A dagger that was emitting a golden glow pierced his heart from the front, and when Zaglur saw the dagger and most especially... the golden glow, his eyes widened in disbelief.

"A- a divine weapon?"
