At a small wooden house built in the east of the forest, there was a boy who looked at least seven or eight years old. He had red eyes and black hair, and he wore white garments. He sat outside, watching the beautiful sunset as he sipped warm water and petted a rabbit. Where are they? he wondered, thinking about Fang and Emily. Darkness began to swallow the land as the sun vanished.
The woman was walking in a hurry. I hope he is okay, she thought to herself. Suddenly, a pack of wolves appeared, surrounding her.
"Wolves," she said, shocked as she looked around. "Damn, I am surrounded by them."
The wolves crept slowly toward her. She stood, swerving her head to track their movement, but then she spoke in a cold, expressionless voice, "Frozen spikes."
Tall ice spikes erupted from the ground, killing all the wolves that surrounded her. Bang! A red ogre smashed her spikes with a stone-age weapon in a single hit. Shards flew everywhere as she looked at the ogre. "Sub-Zero," she said.
The ogre froze at the sound of her words. Then, a beast with white fur jumped down from the trees and landed in front of her.
"Fang, I know it's you," she said in a low voice. "Come on, let's go. Alex should be waiting."
"Now I know who you are," Fang said, his eyes shining with joy.
"You don't tell anyone, got it? Not even Alex," she said, turning to him.
"Alright, I won't tell anyone because it's useless information," the wolf said as he walked in front of her. "Are you coming?" he asked, looking back at her.
Why did he want this information if it's useless to him? the woman thought. Completely useless.
"Sigh… now I know that an animal is just an animal," she muttered aloud.
"What did you say?" Fang asked, looking back.
"You heard me," she shouted as she walked past him.
In a short time, they reached the house. It looked bright and a little strange to them. They silently approached the door. Bang! They opened it, and she jumped inside, sword in hand. The house was bright, but silence returned as soon as the door closed.
"Oh, you're back," a boy with red eyes said. "Why make so much noise?"
"Alex, are you okay?" she asked, her eyes scanning the room.
"Yes, I'm fine. When did you get a sword?" he asked, frowning. "Because you don't even know how to fight."
She looked surprised and stood straight. "Um… I found the sword in the forest," she said, walking toward the kitchen.
A new sword in the forest? Impossible… he thought. Maybe… no, she can't. Ugh, let me stop thinking.
This boy is damn not even thinking, Fang thought. She is not any ordinary human. Maybe she is a warrior… or even someone who died long ago, and she knows the boy. Either way, she's not that strong.
He went to her. "I heard you, so don't look down on me, got it?" she whispered.
Fang's eyes widened in shock. She sent him to get the axe that was outside. He went, but not willingly. The moment he was forced out, he returned to his normal size.
I really don't like shrinking just to enter this tiny house, he muttered.
"So don't enter the house then!" she shouted at the door.
How did she hear me? he thought, quickening his pace.
I thought they were going to hunt together and grow their bond… but I was wrong, Alex thought as he saw Emily shouting at Fang.
