Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Mark I Armor is Unveiled

"This is Captain America, Steve Rogers—a war hero from World War II who was recently freed from the ice." Tony's confidence surged when he saw his friend arrive.

If he knew Steve had been flirting with Sharon for the past two months while watching him suffer, would he break up with him on the spot?

"I treat you like my brother… and you just watched me suffer, huh?"

"Let's talk after we get out. Yinsen, help Tony—there's not much time." Steve was excited too.

The Mark I armor—his chance to see Tony become Iron Man—was finally close to completion.

With Steve's encouragement, Tony and Yinsen worked faster, installing the armor piece by piece.

But it wasn't just physical assembly; a simple program had to be implanted to allow mobility. Without it, Tony couldn't move an inch in the heavy suit.

Steve studied the armor. Simple as it was, its quality was undeniable—a hidden gem among the scraps.

Suddenly, footsteps and shouting echoed outside.

"Oh no! They've discovered us!" Yinsen panicked. "But the program is only halfway installed!"

Gritting his teeth, Yinsen picked up a gun. "I'll go stop them."

"Leave it to Steve. Help me with the final adjustments!" Tony snapped. "It's been two months. Those bastards will learn how powerful I am!"

Steve drew his shield and flicked a Coke can like a discus, a half-smile on his face. "If I act, they're all dead. Want me to leave any for you?"

Tony's anger flared. "Of course! Do you know what I've endured these past two months? Those bastards will pay! And after nearly three months without a woman, even a sow looks good to me!"

Beep beep!

The countdown for the bomb installed outside the iron gate ended in a thunderous explosion. The five terrorists were blown away instantly.

Steve moved forward, shield ready, pistol in hand. His physique and reflexes made his shooting deadly precise.

Assault rifle bullets clanged off his shield, deformed, and fell harmlessly to the ground.

A terrorist lying in ambush attacked with a dagger. Steve swung the shield with his left hand, knocking him aside, and shot three precise rounds to the head.

A sneak attack? Steve hated that the most.

Behind him, a mechanical grinding sound announced Tony's voice: "Steve, my turn! Watch my new invention."

"I know, I know. Stop showing off and go!" Steve stepped aside to watch.

At the exit, more than ten terrorists fired simultaneously.

Bullets clanged off the armor, rebounding and hitting the attackers.

Tony pulled a primitive fuse and launched a small grenade. Swoosh! It flew out, exploding to wipe out the remaining enemies.

"Not bad," Steve said as he walked out with Yinsen. The armor was impressive, but for full-scale combat, it still needed improvements.

Outside, Tony activated the armor's flame system, igniting surrounding flammable materials.

Terrorists screamed, burning alive—a cruel justice for their cruelty. Ammunition exploded, turning the area into a fireworks display.

Tony extended a hand to Yinsen. "Come on, I said I'd get you out!"

"What about the Captain?" Yinsen hesitated, concerned for Steve.

"I have my own way. You two go first. We'll meet outside," Steve reassured, leaping to a higher ledge with agility.

The armor's flight mode transferred energy to the ground. Flames roared as Tony and Yinsen soared skyward, the thrill of flight amplified by the explosions below.

But the spectacle lasted only seconds; violent vibrations caused the armor to disintegrate. Tony and Yinsen crashed into the desert, covered in dust, but alive—and smiling.

"Yinsen, if there's ever a chance in your hometown, I'll help you find your family," Tony said, grateful to his benefactor.

"My family… they're all gone. The war took them," Yinsen replied sadly.

Steve arrived on an off-road motorcycle, Sharon holding on behind him. "I called a helicopter. Congrats on escaping! Remember to treat me to a meal later."

"I need a burger!" Tony thought.

"Thank you, Captain!" Yinsen stood and bowed deeply to Steve.

"You're welcome," Steve replied, glancing at the approaching helicopter with Coulson and Rhodes aboard.

"Plane's here. See you back at the base!"

Steve revved the throttle and rode off with Sharon. The mission was complete. Time to celebrate.

"Ding! Mission completed. Rewards sent. Please put the motorcycle in the garage for upgrades—it'll take one hour."

After returning to the Air Force base, Tony was immediately examined. Any injuries were treated promptly, and only after being declared safe could he return to the U.S.
